Dangers of Delaya (Mission, Ask)

Toefi rose before the sun that next day, practically skipping down to the hangar to meet Rev. Hooray for mission day! She didn't bother hiding her excitment, or any emotion, as she slumped down to the floor againt a cold stone wall, humming merrily to herself while awaiting her master. For once in her life, she was early.

This would be great! There'd be mercenaries and hostile wildlife to negotiate with, a new world to explore, and as Rev mentioned a few times a tranquil, grassy place perfect for meditation. Pff, the former few sounded so much funner than the latter. She was psyched, and so turned her merry hum into a cheerful whistle while she impatiently tried to wait.

 

[Rev]

Arising not soon after Toefi had his own excitement had been well within himself. He appeared no different than he had the days before. Stretching out he threw the cloak over his stocky form before walking down the Ossus temple hallways. Comming to a corridor he took a left, the evergoing click as each step was taken they seemed to echo an eternity. It being as early as it was the temple was very much 'dead.' Those that weren't sleeping were preparing for the day through meditation or showering. He had managed to prepare himself the night before and was more than ready for the adventure that would soon be before him, and his padawan learner.

Comming to the hanger he sensed his apprentice before ever seeing her. The joy radiating from her like heat from a flame. Smiling across at her he stared at the freighter that had been put in place for them to enter the tranquil world of Dantooine. Walking up next to her then signaling for the boarding ramp he finally broke the sound of her whistles.

"I hope you are prepared my Padawan, this will show if you are ready to become a Knight, or if we must further your training. I feel you are more than ready for the next stages in your quest of a Jedi, though it is you that must prove this."

He reassured her with a smile before stepping onto the old ship and sitting back, waiting for the engines to lift them off...

Toefi followed him into the ship, grinning. He seemed excited too, or so what little sensing she could do seemed to tell her. "Do you really think I have what it takes?" she asked, when she finally stopped looking at all the flashing lights and buttons and sat down. "I mean, Jedi are supposed to be strong in the Force and calm and understanding and all that jazz... I'm serious. I wanna know your opinion." Toefi looked up at Rev as she buckled herself in, believably sincere with her question for once.

 

[Rev]

Taking a seat along side Toefi he simply smiled at her question. Almost shaking it off as the thrusters pushed them into the air and soon enough through the atmosphere.

"I feel you are as ready as you will ever be my Padawan... not all Jedi are as you say. A serious Jedi can be all that you have just spoke of, it takes control and choice.. always look for the better in others. Never take the negative from one, you can bring light into the darkest of souls if you show them a glimpse of the light."

He closed his eyes as he felt the hyperspace engines hum to life and send them on their way. It would be sometime before they reached their destination, but they would surely get to the planet known as Delaya.

She smiled and sat silently for a few minutes, peering out into hyperspace. The effect made her dizzy after a very brief time and she shook her head and turned away from the viewport. This was intense! She twidled her thumbs for a bit and studied some of the blinking lights and non-flashing ones. It had probably only been 10 minutes tops before she was bored and needed something to do.

"So, Rev..." Toefi began, feeling unomfortable with the silence "What was your first mission like?" She had no guilt at all asking questions. She didn't feel like she was being nosy. She was just curious... and despite the relaxing hum of the hyperspace engines, hated the quietness.

 

[Rev]

He thought about it and finally remembered what it was. It had been so long ago and so normal that it blended in with every other mission he had done throughout the years. Even if it was only 5 years since he had been a padawan and now was training one of his own. Time seemed to fly he thought.

"It was Coruscant... beautiful planet if I must say though. Filled with lights, everything moved, nothing was ever the same. I was sent there, alone, believe it or not to investigate a small band of thieves. They were stealing from the beggars and poor of a certain sector and I was to investigate and lend a hand if the reports were true."

He smiled and leaned back in the chair watching the time slowly tick by. They had some time before their arrival would come to.

"So what made you want to become a Jedi?"

He had purposely avoided answering the rest of the tale of his first mission in a hope that he could later on, or that she wouldn't pick up on it and he could keep it to himself. Yawning he awaited his own answer from the girl next to him.

 

[PaRRoT]

Her senses, slightly heightened with the Force, knew that he hadn't finished his tale, and her face showed that she was curious. Toefi however tried to be not so nosy and didn't ask but rather decided to answer his question.

"Well, I became a Jedi because..." she began, but paused to ponder. She twirled a strand of hair around her pale finger as she tried to think of the words to explain without sounding forced into her new 'proffesion.' "Hmmm... well, I guess I became a Jedi because my mom and dad wanted me to. I was almost 7, 6 and a half-ish to be more specific, when they sent me away to Ossus for training. I suppose I couldn't have wanted anything more. Chandrila, my homeworld, was boring. I would've been a farmer's wife had I not come, and my parents wanted a better life for their only child I guess."

She stopped talking again for a moment, as if remembering something that brought a smile to her face. "In reality, I wanted to be a hero. I loved adventure and taking risks for the thrill. Jedi training would get me off Chandrila. And away and safe from anymore kidnappers. Mom and dad didn't really like it that I was kidnapped for two years." Toefi chuckled and her grin showed that she actually had a fondness for being kidnapped "So, in sumary, I became a Jedi because my parents wanted me to be protected and have an oppurotunity for a better, more exciting, life."

 

[Rev]

Rev listened contently it was how most hopefuls got into Ossus, simply having their child discovered and shipped off for training. Should they get through the first stages they would become a padawan. Closing his eyes he relaxed for a moment thinking about how everything had happened in his mind once again before smiling contently.

"An interesting tale, so you like adventure it seems... just know not all Jedi are so adventurous we find ourselves stuck on Ossus or Coruscant a lot of the time."

He laughed before looking out the viewport for a few moments wondering how much longer it would be.

 

[PaRRoT]

"But not all Jedi are stuck on Ossus or Coruscant all the time either," Toefi replied with a smirk as she too turned to look out the window. Nothing to interesting. More starlines that would give her a headache if she looked to long. Hyperspace was unfortunatly not as impressive as she'd imagined.

She turned back from the viewport to look at Rev, "What about you? Why'd you become a Jedi?" She was curious as to why other people did. Toefi had always been rather self centered, not thinking that other people might have thoughts and feelings until maybe a year ago. After discovering this, questions became more frequent. She liked to get to know people, Rev especially. He'd have to teach her, and she'd have to know and trust him in order to be taught.

 

[Rev]

His mind thought back to when he wanted to become a Jedi, asking himself why it was he wasn't really too sure. Looking over to Toefi he gave her that friendly smile and answered with a truth that could only be held by the beholder.

"That question I do not know, I remember being young and seeing a Jedi, what they were capable of. They were like a old holostrip of a super hero it seemed. I wanted to be one... then I was discovered to be sensitive and sent off. I guess you could say that is my reason, though I believe there was more behind it back then. Maybe it was just to help others, work for the greater good of the galaxy, or even to improve myself.... Whatever it was I believe I have accomplished what I suck out..."

With a hum the ship started to jolt and hyperspace finally came to a close, the gentle hum of the engines died to silence and he knew they were outside Delaya. Turning to the viewport he could see the green planet and smiled.

"It seems we will be there soon my padawan..."

 

[PaRRoT]

Toefi dashed over and pressed her face against the veiwport as soon as Rev said they were almost there. It was cold to the touch, and goosebumps rose on her arms, but she ignored that. Delaya looked so beautiful. A gorgeous shade of green. A whole new world for her to explore.
She turned smiling over to Rev. "You have no idea how excited I am," she chuckled "Thank you soooo much!" They were closing in on the planet now. This should be fun!

 

[Rev]

The ship began to rumble as it began breaking through the atmosphere. Relaxing in the seat he closed his eyes and simply waited until the landing gears deployed and they finally hit ground with a soft thud. Continuing his gaze out the viewport he smirked.

"Well dont thank me yet... getting here is half the battle, getting off will be the fun part."

He laughed and rose from his seat, heading towards the loading ramp.

 

[PaRRoT]

Toefi followed eagerly, like a little puppy on its first walk with its new master. She scampered down the loading ramp and just stopped, looking around. The smell of fresh, clean, warm air hit her first, full of flower fragrances. Then the sound of twitting birds and a light breeze brushing across her face and finally, she looked around off of the landing pad and was mildly disappointed that it looked a lot like Ossus just emptier. She hid this however and smiled at Rev. Delaya would be more exciting. She knew it. There were pirates here somewhere after all... and hostile wildlife!

 

[Rev]

He sensed the excitement die from her if only for a moment. Then it was there again, so all of her hopes weren't sent away which put a grin on his face. Looking up at the sky he stared at a single cloud before looking over his shoulder and calling out to her.

"Lets go... we need to talk to the Mayor who's starting up the project here.."

 

[PaRRoT]

"Sweet. A Mayor. How..." Toefi paused trying to think of a good word, before settling on "Important." The light breeze brushed across her face as she trailed behind Rev. "So where are we going big guy? Where is Mr. Mayor?" she asked as they ambled through the new world. This 15 year old was ready for excitement, adventure, and whatever would come their way as long as it wasn't something dull and boring.

 

[Rev]

Pointing ahead there was a rather large building in comparison to the others. Large was an overstatement though it could be no bigger than a Republic recruiting center back on Ossus. Looking over at Toefi he was almost positive she wouldn't be impressed with it but it didn't matter, just offered more of a challenge for the two. Flashing her a smile he quickened the pace.

"There, we'll be in and out in no time and on this mission I hope.. things are looking like they'll go by smoothly with the small nature of the town."
