History
As long as there has been Jedi and following the Great Schism that first tore them apart, there have always been those who walked a darker path than their lightsided counterparts. And while the largest amounts of those masses chose to flock to the Sith Order after it's creation, some chose to walk a different path. Reasons and choice varied as wide as the Galaxy, but the intent was all the same. These beings chose to walk as Darksiders independent of a Religion or Order. Because of this, there is no fundamental foundation nor structure that holds this community together.
And that is the intent of this Galactic Guide. To foundationalize the unstructured.

Structure and Ranking
While there may not be any organizational structure to this group of Darksiders simply known as Dark Jedi or Independent Darksiders, there is a Primordial Aspect that is present within each of them. We call this the Primordial Aspect the Prime Example. And with it, we will try to emphasize the commonality that brings together this community under a broken but perseverent banner.
There is always a teacher and a student, a Master and an Apprentice. Legacies are passed down through generations and teachings, from one to another, and the roots are always the same rotted as they be. They are as prevalent as any Sith or Jedi that makes their counterparts. In this, we can not only gain an insight into their existence, but gain a sense of their Rankings in contrast to their counterparts within the Sith and Jedi Order's.
Darkside Acolyte(Rank 0.5) - By definition, as well as default, this is the standard equivalent of any beginner of any structured organization. They are but the first step into the Darkside of the Force, equivalent to the Jedi Padawan or Sith Apprentice in both power and understanding of the Force.
Darkside Adept(Rank 1) - As with the Darkside Acolyte, the Adept is both the definition and default of those whom have risen in power and understanding in the Force. As such, usually their stature within the Galaxy as changed and became more prominent, equally and equivalent to most Jedi Knights and Sith Champions.
Dark Jedi(Rank 2) - This is usually where we find a large amount of difference between these Independent Darksiders and their counterparts within the Organizational Orders like the Jedi and Sith and is where they are generally defined by the societal recognition as Dark Jedi, a term that was originally coined to term unaffiliated Darksiders into a generalized term before the foundation of the Sith Order and prevalently carried on to term the Darksiders who walked the Galaxy independent of the Orders. We've come to know these Dark Jedi in equivalency to Jedi and Sith Masters due to their push to the Galactic forefront and societal acknowledgment of their skill in the Darkside aspect of the Force.
This is usually where the commonality of the Ranking System is comparison to the primordial structure of the community against that of the foundational structures of the Jedi and Sith Orders end and the Independent Darksiders become known solely upon their deeds and Mastery over the Darkside of the Force. There, is however, an equivocal essence laid down by those who came before that could, in comparison, be acknowledged as the societal ranking for Independent Darksiders in equivalency to Jedi and Sith Council Members. Members that sway society in a way that bolds and emphasizes their part within it.
Darkside Prophet(Rank 3) - By comparisons, this is a very rarely attained Rank by Independent Darksiders that sway the masses in such a way that is comparison to the sway that Jedi or Sith Council Members hold over their foundational structures. These members are held in both regard and disdain by their counterparts in the Jedi and Sith Orders, essentially being placed upon them by those very peers as exceptional and impressive Mastery over the Force, and even amongst other Independent Darksiders as well.
And finally, the legendary Rank that supercedes above all else, a Rank that remains only in legends passed down foundationally by both the Jedi and Sith Orders, as well as acknowledged by societal recognition and is solely a prophesied Rank within the Legendary aspect of Darksiders as a whole.
Sith'ari(Rank 4) - This Legendary Ranking has never been achieved, but remains both a societal and foundational ranking that is generally accepted by all. History tells of it being achieved only once during the reign of King Adas I over Korriban, Sith Space, and the Sith Purebloods of Legacy. But the generalized consensus points to it being the both the societal and foundational aspect of Leader and Living Embodiment of the Darkside in mortal form and in essence, the Overlord of all Darksiders, both Sith and Independent. But only in when conceded by all.
