Creation, starring Paul Bettany, details Darwin's "struggle between faith and reason" as he wrote On The Origin of Species. It depicts him as a man who loses faith in God following the death of his beloved 10-year-old daughter, Annie.

The film was chosen to open the Toronto Film Festival and has its British premiere on Sunday. It has been sold in almost every territory around the world, from Australia to Scandinavia.

However, US distributors have resolutely passed on a film which will prove hugely divisive in a country where, according to a Gallup poll conducted in February, only 39 per cent of Americans believe in the theory of evolution.

Movieguide.org, an influential site which reviews films from a Christian perspective, described Darwin as the father of eugenics and denounced him as "a racist, a bigot and an 1800s naturalist whose legacy is mass murder". His "half-baked theory" directly influenced Adolf Hitler and led to "atrocities, crimes against humanity, cloning and genetic engineering", the site stated.

The film has sparked fierce debate on US Christian websites, with a typical comment dismissing evolution as "a silly theory with a serious lack of evidence to support it despite over a century of trying"....

I think the producers are blowing that one out of proportion. Sure, some people will be pissed off about it, but they're also pissed off over the Harry Potter movies and no one gives them the time of day. It wouldn't be anymore divisive than Harry Potter, IMO.

Paul bettany is a good actor and that looks like a good film.

Ad you can't not believe in Evolution, it's a bloody fact.

It's like not believing in the sun.

Scientists would beg to differ considering it's called the "Theory of Evolution."

Oh yeah. Wording loopholes. Eat me.

Interesting.
Im personaly agnostic but I dont know what to think of Darwinism.
But the movie does look good to watch but not everyone should go overboard about these type of things.

The Theory these days is more based on piecing together the blob of goo to the blob of Mullluns rather then it not being a fact.

Time for a conservative to post in this thread and get his head ripped off.

But seriously. Banning a film is dumb...

Though Evolutionists do plenty of that to supporters of ID, or just people who don't care about evolution.

People have lost jobs just because they don't buy a Theory.

That ticks me off, when their work doesn't require them to care one way or the other.

Anyways...

I'm fairly certain it's not being shown because movie theater's like movie, and because of people's views, it won't make any.

There should be an 11th commandment "Keep thy religion to thy self"

With that said, this reminds me of this video on youtube.

Except that would contradict the first amendment of "Thou shalt hath the right to practice or not practice a religion of thous choosing." :p

So? Many of the commandments contradict the first amendment like the first and second commandment.

Jesus Christ, you just can't help but kill anyone's sarcasm or mocking, can you? Just because you're boring doesn't mean everyone else is dead serious in what they say.

The first amendment is the right to free speech.
