Maybe we could do a WWI meets Percy Jackson type deal. Like a god was slain (or something else major) and one (or more) god(s) blames another god. Now the gods are taking sides, and are all on the verge of war. And then let's say it is causing turmoil for the world (elements and nature are all warring against each other), and humans (or whatever species you are) are siding with their gods and opposing the followers of the gods their gods are in opposition to, so it's like war in heaven and on earth.

Of course, this would also mean that we'd have to rp the gods interacting with each other in addition to the humans (or whatever species you are). Just throwing this out there.

One idea I had was that the gods had agreed to confine themselves to mortal shells (as in killable) in order to fight out their feuds, realizing that war between unstoppable powers was well...pointless.

So the gods would all have a single form and would essentially be superhuman in every aspect as well as having control over their domains, but would be, at the end of the day, flesh and bone.

Blame Monkey because I might possibly maybe perhaps be interested in stepping up to bat as the god of wisdom (his suggestion!). Does this necessitate a beard and knotted wood staff?

inb4 Athena, bitch had an owl not Christopher Lee's voice

If everyone keeps just calling domains I'll ban everyone from the domain they called.

I just had a thought in line with what you said. What if it wasn't the gods, but perhaps their offspring (demigods), that were tasked with doing their bidding? Let's say the gods made a law that they could bear only one half-god offspring to act as the rulers of their domain in the human realm (for example, say Zeus made Hercules the King of Greece or something) and when the gods went to war, so did their kingdoms (and in effect, the demigods). But because they were demigods, they retained a degree of the powers of their deity parents?

It's a pretty sketchy concept, but I'm just dishing out whatever comes to mind.

Maybe we could merge the single half-god offspring idea and the flesh-and-blood avatar the gods create ideas? That could be interesting...

Or, alternatively, we could go for the half-god offspring idea, and use the god's child as the main character we RP, but when we bring the actual god into the material world, their bodies could be about 90 percent energy, 10 percent mass?

Why would material bodies be 90% energy instead of 100% matter?

Aesthetic effect. Maybe somthing symbolic for them being not of this world. Like maybe the material world is a hindrance to their actual consciousnesse,d and as a result they favor the use of their children. =P

Would they mingle with the mortals (as in the followers and servants)?

Due to the Divine RPs always being about playing a god, I'd like to keep that theme going.

You'd have to be a little more detailed, I'm not quite following.

Would they mingle with the mortals (as in the followers and servants)?

Only if they want to, but being in a mortal body and in charge of a nation of followers and not involving themselves with their followers seems a bit odd to me.

I would play a goddess in a mortal body that never intermingles with her followers.
It adds a bit of mystery to her, along with the idea of the subjects following her in blind faith.
There would be rumors that would arise from such solitude as well.
Now that I think about it, I like the idea more and more.

I dislike the idea of being militant. My character will reflect this.

Might not even lead the living, with the exception of fanatics.

I like it too. After all, you don't really want to kill a god. Kill the god of the sun... no more sun. And etc.
