Humans are the perfect starter race, imo.

They're also very boring, I find. My favourite plot is where my character is considered second class in a racist Human kingdom.

Especially if I'm playing a Dragonborn or Goliath, since they can do a lot of physical damage in a bare-knuckled brawl. :CHappy:

I've said it before and i'll say it again - there's no greater joy than casting light on Drow in your own party.

I tend to be a douche whenever I am forced to play with a Drow.

One time, we were in a dungeon with very low light, and the Drow was a classic Drizzt ripoff, so I convinced the Wizard to cast light on the little headband the Drow was wearing just above his eyes, which blinded him.

My Half-Orc preceded to kick him down this sort of chasm. He'd have gotten out of it fine if he could see, luckily he couldn't.

The player learned from that, and went with a Dwarf Fighter. Yes, another cliche, but not one I so adamantly hate.

Kick them down a chasm...

Here's a question: What do you all like more, being a DM or PC?

PC. I've been told I put together great sessions when i'm DMing, but I just don't enjoy it as much for some reason.

I generally don't like the work load for being a DM. I never just throw a generic little adventure for someone (unless they want to just play a single-session game). My games are always epic in scale, usually lasting for months before the PCs accomplish all the goals that I had created (and modified do to pesky player ingenuity).

Those take a long time to first create, then detail so it functions well at all the levels of play. When I'm in the mood to create something like that, I'm all for it, but usually I'll just throw together a character to join someone else's game (not as epic as mine are, but damn fun).

That being said, I try and stay away from dungeon runs and games that have no real story elements, since I love Roleplaying.

Although, when I roleplay in DnD, I go with the "My character does this". I don't know, but I've always felt weird talking from my character's perspective around my friends.

I usually Dm as I said before. Because my players campaigns are boring (no offense to them), in my campaigns there plot twists and unexpectedness. With the whole drow thing we've had some well-played drow, it can be done especially if it's not like a "Drizzle Clone".

I run a good game, but I really hate the time it takes to plan it all out. Some people live for that kind of thing, I'm not one of them when it comes to gaming so I usually PC.

I have only played maybe once in existent world. The rest have been DM created. Right I am running a game in my world of Sorjahd. I am currently trying to get my players help create the world. Like organizations, people, places, or stories within it but it's slowly coming together. The hardest part for me in world creation is my own Gods. I love the old Greyhawk Pantheon of 3.5 and the 4th ed pantheon but I like also creating my own whihc is hard.

We tend to play along the Sword Cost - most of us share a common love for the Baldur's Gate game series as well as Neverwinter Nights, so our characters tend to travel that region, though we stick closest to Athkatla. Usually we establish one or two travelling adventurers, and the remainder have persistant but regionally based characters.

Only preexisting campaign I enjoy Roleplaying in is Eberron, because aside from the campaign guide info I do not know anything more of it. I tried Roleplaying in the Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance settings but I couldn't get in to it, so I generally stick to homebrew worlds.

Eberron was the pre-existing world we played in. It was a one shot, dungeon thing I think. I can't remember though. I wish I could find a good fantasy rp site that isn't LOTR. Ugh.

Bumping this to continue the discussion. I was just recalling a game I was running a while ago. It was set about 80 years after a prior game I had run, in which one of the players had their characters petrified and left in a caved in dungeon keep.

Well, the area had changed a lot in 80 years, and that character's player was in this game with a new character and I had formed an adventure that involved going to that same dungeon, as it had opened once again and minor demons were swarming out of it.

Well, that player decided to un-petrify his old character, which I had prepared for, and the old character became a recurring ally to this party. Any other cool stories to share?
