AVENTEX, CAPITAL OF EBYDON

"The Old Emerald"

NAME
OFFICIAL DESIGNATION
Ebydon
COORDINATES
GALACTIC ARRAY LOCATION
Q-10
CLIMATE
WEATHER AND BIOME
Ebydon is a near-tropical world with peculiar oddities. Although possessing a dense atmosphere and heavy humidity, Ebydon possesses a weaker geomagnetic field than most planets. Solar radiation penetrates more deeply on Ebydon, making it almost dangerous for the majority of sentient lifeforms without life-supporting suits or other protective gear. This also causes varying atmospheric fronts within Ebydon's atmosphere; hurricanes and tornadoes, especially by ocean city states, are recurring. In addition, although Ebydon has a weaker than typical geomagnetic field, tectonic plate movement within the polar regions is a regular occurrence.

Planetquakes prevent any permanent colonization within these regions. Unique aspects of the geomagnetic field of Ebydon also produces another peculiarity; the frequency of electromagnetic wavelengths typically alternate the visible spectrum manifested in the sky from blue to shades of red and dark orange. On Ebydon, the frequency stops short through the electromangetic spectrum, and thus during daylight hours, the sky of Ebydon appears green instead of blue, only shifting to yellow and goldenrod in the evening hours, as opposed to red or dark orange.
TERRAIN
LANDSCAPE AND GEOGRAPHY
Due to being embroiled in a state of constant civil war for some four thousand years, a period of time known as the Aeternus of Ruin, Ebydon possesses almost as many abandoned cities as it does inhabited. Ruins are scattered across Ebydon's surface, all of which are considered a sort of "hallowed ground". Turians reflect deeply on their own history, and as such almost revere such locations that managed to survive the Aeternus of Ruin and the Thousand Hour War. Although these are forbidden to be tampered with beyond archeological pursuits, offworlders are often free to visit them under supervision; because of the constant state of war, many Turian enclaves possessed traps against warring tribes, many of which are undiscovered and still active. In light of this, the wild of Ebydon is considered hazardous grounds.

Perhaps the most spectacular of Ebydon's geography is the manifestation of their appreciation of their past culture being adapted into their technological "boom" era. On both the architectural and agricultural level, Turians have adapted the primitive aspects of their history with the scientific advancements made in the last several thousand years. Clinging to their cultural identities and roots from the Aeternus of Ruin, which mainly came from the strong bond of unity gained from the Thousand Hour War, Turian cityscape is predominantly technologically-adapted variations of pyramids in the place of skyscrapers. Adorned with Turian "Classical Era" decor, the cityscape of Ebydon has become an unexpected source of revenue for the Turian State, due to tourism. The capital of Ebydon, Aventex, is the sterling example of the uniqueness of Ebydon and Turian culture.
ROTATION
PLANETARY CYCLES
Like most planets in the galaxy, Ebydon has day and night cycles per its rotation around its system's star, Nitellas; a yellow main sequence star. Full rotational cycles on last 34.9 (35 generally accepted) galactic standard hours, with daylight hours lasting approximately 18.2 hours, and 16.7 through the night.
INHABITANTS
FAUNA AND SOCIETAL
Most of the fauna of Ebydon had been tamed by the Turians millenniums ago due to their usage of non-sentient creatures as beasts of war. Many vicious predatory animals, such as the ty'aki wolf, have become regular sights as a tamed species, whereas the more unpredictable and reclusive colossal khu'whan dragons still roam in the wild and are considered extremely dangerous. The oceans of Ebydon were mostly ignored by the Turians until underwater volcanic eruptions were brought to their attention, which are telltale signs of new sources of tantalum ore, although documentation of new marine life is currently the fastest growing classifications on the planet. More docile creatures like the yinni are used for cultivating land, and haus aves are used in filtering the atmospheric balance, usually over major cities, to cut down pollution.

In terms of sapient life, Turians dominate Ebydon, both culturally and in terms of population ratios. Because of their independence (as opposed to the more common xenophobia which causes this) very few non-Turians are permitted to reside on Ebydon, and indeed, such a decision is not taken lightly due to the difficulties with most species residing on the hot and radiant world. Nonetheless, Ebydon is considered to be something of a tourist spot in the galaxy due to their vast and intact ruins and their unique architecture, most of which is universally decorated with firegemstone bands, which provide both aesthetics and illumination.
RESOURCES
EXPORTS AND RAW MATERIALS
As a largely untapped world until very recently on the galactic scene, Ebydon is rich with resources. One such resource is their ira'tela mines, which are widely known in the galaxy as firegems. Although valued as precious gems in the galactic underworld, Turians have regularly used ira'tela throughout their history, not only to decorate their pyramids, but also to provide sources of light in the vesper hours. From orbit, major city states of Ebydon can be perceived from the massive quantities of ira'tela illuminating in concentrated amounts. Because of the reaction of ira'tela when in close proximity to hyperdrives, the substance has been made illegal in most galactic space for several thousand years. Thus, while the problem of thieves and smugglers still exist, ira'tela is still regarded as a common resource without particular precious value. The Turians in turn do not trade ira'tela, but simply use it in architecture and fundamental lighting.

Several other resources also exist on Ebydon, such as palladium, iridium, iron, mercury, uranium, krypton and even aurodium, all spread out from underwater depots to plains to mountainous regions. However, all of these pale to Ebydon's most precious natural resource; tantalum ore, which naturally exists within the planet's mantle. A rare and unique mineral found only in the volcanic polar regions of Ebydon within the entire galaxy, tantalum ore is the substance which cemented the trade alliances between Turian State with the Galactic Traders Coalition, and is rigidly protected, as are the methods of refining it. Because of their trade agreement, tantalum ore and its refined state, Tantalus Alloy, are illegal to sell to any entity except to or through the GTC. This, in addition to the scarceness of it, the difficulty of retrieving it and the time it takes to purify it, makes tantalum ore one of the most difficult materials to attain, and additionally amongst the most expensive, providing exceptional economic boosts to the Turian economy.
GOVERNMENT
RULING BODIES AND IDEALS
Ebydon is governed by a governmental power known as the United Tribes of the Imperial State of Ebydon, better known simply as the Turian State or the Turian Tribes, which are dozens upon dozens of tribes, with the stronger providing the foundations for the smaller or weaker, similar to an inverted clan structure. The majority of the tribes govern themselves, with the chieftains acting as "family heads" over the tribe as a whole, while the core power rests almost entirely with the central tribes, known as the Tribunal. Within the Tribunal, power is more closely divided, with a tribe's achievements, historical worthiness, actions and other factors weighing in on the authority given them. Technically speaking, the Tribunal is affiliated with the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, although they possess closer, if more unofficial than otherwise, ties with the Galactic Traders Coalition.
ECONOMY
FINANCIAL MEANS AND STRENGTH
While experiencing economic prosperity from their current age as a civilization, Ebydon and the Turians are far from financial juggernauts, and required the Galactic Traders Coalition to support themselves onto the galactic scene economically. Although not deficient in wealth, the Turians are more militarized than financially minded, and rest their financial future through agents in the Galactic Traders Coalition.
CULTURE
VALUES AND TRADITIONS
Nicknamed "The Old Emerald", Ebydon's most unique culture is its perfect melding of historical, or "old", architecture and agriculture with current technological standards, and its extensive use of green and luminous ira'tela. On a more social level, the Turians of Ebydon are heavily steeped in military tradition, still sporting one of the largest independent world-fleets in the galaxy, although it is dwarfed many times over by the major galactic powers. Ebydonian culture is also shaped by the Turian codes, such as their individual sense of honor, justice and accountability, which shapes their way of thinking from their earliest youth and prevents on a massive scale corruption and abuse of power.
TECHNOLOGY
ADVANCEMENT AND CONDITION
Ebydon is considered to be technologically standard, with all the common conveniences one would find on any other world. However, more remarkable is not their technological condition, but their advancement. Within only a few thousand years, the Turians have taken Ebydon's technological phase from basic spaceflight to the current galactic modernity; an incredible feat by the rest of the galaxy's standards.
SATELLITES
CELESTIAL BODIES
Unlike most planets, Ebydon has no natural moons, but possesses a large dust ring surrounding it. However, there are many artificial satellites in orbit of Ebydon, particularly the refinery platforms for processing and purifying tantalum ore.
HISTORY
DOCUMENTATION
Much of Ebydon's recorded history was lost during the Aeternus of Ruin, with only portions of information being preserved by the individual warring Turian tribes. Nonetheless, enough history of the Turian tribes were able to be cross-referenced and pieced together, lending to a generally accepted Ebydonian history. Almost eleven thousand years ago, the Turians were spread out across Ebydon, divided into tesh'iic (literally meaning "bloodline [of]"), or tribes. The earliest of the Turian's recorded history is shrouded in inarticulate segments of events and broken testaments laced with myth and legend, all collectively known as the Aeternus of Ruin. From what was known, the beginning of the Turians was a time of great upheaval, strife and turmoil, trifled with civil warfare, and endless, constant conflict. This era was believed to have began with hostilities between the colonies furthest from the Turian central tribes. These colonies were run by local chieftains, many of whom had distanced themselves from the ruling tribes. Without the galvanizing influence of the government, the colonies became increasingly isolated and xenophobic. It was during these times that colonists began tattooing themselves with unique facial emblems to differentiate themselves from members of other colonies and open hostilities became common.

When war finally broke out, the ruling tribes maintained strict diplomacy and refused to get involved or recognize the potential threat. This began a several-century long cold war, which is recognized as the dawn of the Aeturnus of Ruin. Constant proxy wars between tribes, fragmentation within some of the oldest tribes, and in some cases, outright tribal combat dominated the era. After almost three hundred years of fighting, war fully broke out, leading to the initial devastation of Ebydon. Entire cities were razed and many clans were either eradicated or forcibly assimilated into lower members of the stronger tribes. Eventually, even the central ruling tribes began to divide and regress into civil war.

The end of the Aeternus of Ruin came some fifty years prior to the conclusion of the Hundred-Year Darkness, suggesting the Aeternus of Ruin lasted some four thousand years. Ironically, what united the Turians was a threat greater than each other; aliens. With Ebydon being somewhat near to Mytaranor Sector, which housed the Kashyyyk system, Turian first contact came with the expanding Trandoshan Clans. And as a species every bit as warlike as the Turians, the Trandoshans came as conquerors, and massacred the surviving central ruling tribes. Disorganized, fractured and confronted with an enemy they'd never faced before, the Turians were reduced to barely over three hundred tribes within one galactic standard month. It was during this time that the ruling tribe to the current day emerged, through the Turian war hero Valen of the Tribe of Agon.

Uniting the remaining tribes, Valen Agon led a campaign known as the Xal'sai Blitz. As the Turians fell in with Valen Agon's vision of vengeance, tribe after tribe fell in with the charismatic Turian leader, and by the fifty week of the invasion, the capital of Ebydon, Xal'sai, became a warzone. It also marked the first time the skies of Ebydon became battlefields, as Turians quickly adapted their varying battle tactics into a cohesive war effort, which included the commandeering of Trandoshan warships. The war began to escalate rapidly in the following week, until the Galactic Republic put a halt to the Trandoshan expansion. The relatively short (almost seven weeks) long campaign became known the Thousand Hour War.

The Thousand Hour War made the Turians aware of the many species in the galaxy, and of the dangers, but also that united as one, they had prevailed against impossible odds. The conclusion of the Thousand Hour War marked the beginning of the reestablishment of the Turian tribes, all united under a single state of authority, formally known as the United Tribes of the Imperial State of Ebydon. In the years following, the Turian State made bountiful advancement as they grew on the galactic scene. By the time of the Jedi Civil War, the Turians were already a small, but formidable independent military power allied with the Galactic Republic, and by the New Sith Wars, the Turians had become among the most militarized cultures in the galaxy.

Good eye bro! And yes it is. Not entirely of course (real world tantalum is a chemical compound, not an ore as it is here, and I lessened the superconductive nature of real world tantalum in place of absorbent qualities regarding vibrations and raw force) but it is heavily inspired by it.
