BIOGRAPHY
Eldathyn was born into an entirely unremarkable Sephi family, although it could not be said that his parents didn't provide love and care in abundance. His Force sensitivity was uncovered at a fairly young age, however, and the infant was transported to the Jedi before any more than faint impressions of his family could form. As such, he has no particular recollection of his family.

Until he reached an age where he could begin full training, he remained in caretaking in one of the many hidden enclaves. Eldathyn's early training years revealed a student who was quick to learn, but slow to apply. He took to the lessons easily, and seemed to be quite adept at understanding the concepts. However, when it came to applying what he'd learnt, Eldathyn was rarely in the top half of the class. Even so, he continued to apply himself, and his training progressed smoothly. The young Sephi was fortunate - the particular sanctuary where he had been taken remained largely untouched throughout the later stages of the war.

The most formative experiences of Eldathyn's early life started at around age 10, and lasted until he was Knighted at 15. Although formal apprenticeships had been discarded among the Jedi during the Third Conclave, the young Sephi found himself under the part-time mentorship of a likeminded teacher, Jedi Knight Poola Ravin. Ravin had appreciation for Eldathyn's mental acuity, and helped the boy develop this into an intense curiosity and eagerness to understand. This curiosity continued to develop for the next few years, and resulted in Eldathyn also befriending one of the sanctuary's resident historians. He spent a great deal of time with both, asking questions, discussing, and trying to glean what lessons he could from the more experienced Jedi.

Up until reaching Knighthood, the young Sephi spent most of his free time learning about the ancient Jedi, as well as what the Jedi knew of the history of the galaxy as a whole. He developed an intense curiosity in what had been, and how the smallest touches had shaped the course of history. In it, Eldathyn saw the touch of the Force, and in this way, he began to develop his living understanding of the Force. By the time he was named a Jedi Knight, he still was only a mediocre Jedi in terms of ability, but he was considered one of the more knowledgeable students.

Having known only safety for all his life, Eldathyn was caught unprepared for the realities of a war that had been raging for more than three quarters of a century. His initial assignments went poorly, with the young Knight struggling to deal with the situations forced on him and his fellow Knights by a brutal enemy. The Sephi was fortunate that few of his early assignments relied on him alone, and that he had instead been paired with more experienced Knights for most of them. As a result, he was rarely in true mortal danger, and the success or failure of an assignment was not solely in his hands. These early experiences were particularly stressful for Eldathyn, who couldn't help but feel helpless.

However, when the confrontations shifted, and particularly in situations where the Jedi weren't on the defensive, Eldathyn proved more capable. For every failure, he sought to understand what had gone wrong, and brought the lessons to every new situation. He managed to apply the lessons to new situations quite deftly, and managed to see the pitfalls that is peers often missed. During this time, he also started to show a particular affinity for using the Force to sense.

As the war raged on, Eldathyn slowly built on his dual reputation - the resourceful and knowledgeable young Jedi who could help make a success of an operation, but also the Jedi who rarely added significant value once things started to get messy. The Sephi had, through long years of experience, become adept at wielding both the Force and his lightsaber, but he was definitely no warrior. He did his best to avoid getting engaged in single combat with Exile Force users. On the one occasion where he could not avoid it, Eldathyn found himself utterly outmatched.

During this particular duel, Eldathyn, faced with a hopeless fight, learnt that he would never be a lightsaber master. However, he used his wits, and fought a defensive battle. Instead of trying to overcome his opponent, he focussed solely on frustrating the Exile's attacks, thereby buying time for help to arrive. Although the help didn't come, the success of the rest of the operation forced the Exiles to retreat. Although outmatched, Eldathyn's efforts to frustrate his opponent was successful in causing him to break of the attack and retreat with the rest of the Exile forces.

As the war wound towards its end, Eldathyn found himself again in the company of by then Master Ravin. After several assignments together, the Master discussed his frustration with Eldathyn with the young Jedi - particularly, how ineffective he was in situations he wasn't prepared for. He identified in the young Sephi the weakness of wanting to try and understand every situation completely before acting. He warned of the paralysis this could cause, and encouraged Eldathyn to pursue engagements that would allow him to grow through these problems.

By the end of the war, Eldathyn had served as a Jedi on many fronts, both against the Exiles as well as in more traditional roles. All the while, his love for history and philosophy remained. He still desired to understand the bigger picture, and hoped he would be able to spend time once the conflict had ended in pursuing these interests. Although he had never known a Jedi Order without war, he harkened back to his days at the sanctuary.

Yet, none had foreseen what would happen at Ilum. The devastation wrought dispelled any ideas Eldathyn had of intellectual pursuits after the war. As such, he returned to Ossus, ready to seek new ways to serve.

Personality

Although not unlikable, Eldathyn is definitely not a creature of high social grace. Spending time participating in group conversations is taxing on the Sephi Knight, and he much prefers one on one conversations with a few trusted friends. Of these, he has few, and is slow to form any anew. Towards most new acquaintances, he is generally conservative and only barely polite. However, once he grows comfortable, he is far more willing to let the ideas and thoughts spill out of his busy mind. He is also willing to add humour in most situations, often by postulating the impossible.

The Sephi Jedi Knight is driven by a need not to feel helpless. He has deep-seated concerns about his own abilities, knowing full well he is a mediocre Jedi in a galaxy full of allies and enemies with exceptional abilities. His solution to this problem is knowledge - he believes knowing and understanding is his best weapong in making an impact in the galaxy.

Under stress and at his worst, Eldathyn retreats into his mind. He is quick to become socially isolated and reclusive, and difficult to coerce out of such a state again. His need to understand a situation completely can also be paralysing, leading to indecisiveness - a challenge he is yet to overcome.

At his best, however, the Sephi's broad scope, keen intellect and intuition allow him to understand the big picture. He can find the threads that set the course, and knows instinctively which levers to pull to get the greatest effect.

Appearance

Eldathyn would be considered on the shorter side among Sephi, although to most humans he would simply appear average. Slight in build, the Jedi Knight carries little in terms of fat or muscle. Rather, he appears sinewy, though not particularly frail. Eldathyn isn't particularly graceful in movement, nor does he appear to be particularly strong. Rather, his build suggests someone with middling athletic capabilities, and who doesn't spend any more time on physical exertion than is expected of a Jedi.

His facial features aren't striking, though the contrast of dark eyes on light skin may cause some to look twice. Doing far more to identify him as Sephi, however, are his pointed ears. As a Jedi, these ears rarely conform, as the Knight himself is rarely overtaken enough by emotions to cause the physical change.

Eldathyn prefers simple robes of earthen tones, mostly in browns, tans and greens. Other than this, he has few visible scars or identifying marks.

Skills and abilities

Eldathyn, knowledgeable though he is, would definitely not be considered a man of the world - meaning to say, other than his core Jedi skills, he has very few additional abilities.

He knows enough to get a ship to take off, make a basic hyperspace jump, and land again. Anything more complicated than this is beyond him, and he would definitely not be able to manually pilot a spacecraft in combat. He has similar limitations when it comes to vehicles. He also has a fairly basic understanding of computers, meaning that he can get information from them as necessary, but certainly not break through any kind of security measures.

Eldathyn is not master of the Force, though with years worth of experience, he can at least be called competent. His only real specialist area, if it can be called as such, is in sensing with the Force.

Other than his lightsaber, he has never recieved any formal weapons training. As with all Jedi, Eldathyn reached a level of competence with Shii-Cho before progressing to Soresu out of necessity. With Soresu, he has grown quite skilfull, though he is far from progressing to the level of expertise which allows the form to become anything more than a hardy defense.

Physically, Eldathyn is not in excellent shape, but maintains at least Jedi levels of fitness. He is not particularly dextrous or strong, but does has a certain degree of perseverence about him.
