I've been rping since I was 15 and in that time I've had some really fun threads and met some really great people and writers. I just wanted to ask you over the entire history of your time rping what were your favorite threads to take part in and who was your best rping partner.

Now for me it was offsite. I was on a Naruto rp site which has since vanished. I was just fifteen and my posts were pathetic two line affairs that still managed to have spelling and grammar errors up the wazoo. I did a lot of solo threads since more experienced rpers seemed to avoid me, but that changed when an admin called Tsundere joined me in a thread. I still remember my posts were small and spastic but he played along and help me drift the plot to something really cool. I'll never forget that moment as in that thread I started to actively try to improve.

On site my favorite thread I was in was definitely the Daedalus event. I was using my favorite character at the time Jazal. As many of you know Demimurge is a creative Demi-god so that thread was filled to the brim with amazing challenges and possibilities. I've never felt more 'into' my own characters mind then that thread and I suppose I'm still chasing that dragon.

That thread actually leads me to my favorite rping buddy on this site, Lupe. We talked on skype during that thread and started busting each others balls over words count. It got competitive, but in the end it was fun and we both won as our posts ended up fantastic.

I've rped with many great writers on this site, but I just enjoyed Lupe the best as we seemed to have a narrative and personal connection.

Anywho enough about me, what are your favorite threads and people to rp with?

My favourite thread I've ever been in. I was enjoying it so much ;-;

Audroti is my favourite character and I had wanted Sato in a thread with him for ages. I loved everything about that thread, the long, intricate posts. The initial tension between the characters before they finally chill out and start musing over topics of carnage, death and darkness. It was a rare moment for Satoryu, because she is always harbouring her blood-lust to appear more socially acceptable, so it was nice for to just chat with someone who shared similar opinions. MAN I wish we had got to finish it.

I liek RPing wif Jimmy bcuz of his long posts <3

This would be my second favourite, for pretty much the same reason as above; The chemistry and intensity between two equally dark characters. Avlis is so elegant and Defiance writes him magnificently.

Where Flowers Bloom, So Does Hope

This was a great thread all around. Lots of emotion, all about storytelling, and it kicked off what ended up becoming a major site-wide story. For Andraste fans out there, this thread marked her fall to the dark side. The only negative thing is that I shoehorned the intro of another plot into it, which was ultimately out of place.

Sreeya is my favorite person to RP with. We're similar RPers in that we don't spend much time making our posts look pretty (I save that for if I'm writing a book), and instead RP reactions, thoughts, etc. so our characters can play off one another and we can explore our characters really well.

I love that thread, Bac. Another amazing thread I was in was Hot in Dreshdae. Sreeya turned what was initially a dumb open thread into something intense and dramatic. I loved RPing Sato as Andraste forced her to re-live her memories.

That makes me feel a lot better about my own writing because I really struggle with making things read poetic and prose-like. I describe things clearly, exactly the way they are.

Obviously everyone's different but, the way I see it, we're not here to write a masterpiece. You should strive to write well, but you also don't want to bog yourself down in arbitrary ideas about length or book-level quality. RPing is ultimately an awkward form of writing since you can only write for one character, and not the other characters they're with, so I try to just get something out there. Focus on the personality, the actions, and just getting the story moving. Make it read well, but don't feel like you have to write War and Peace.

Although I got to do far too little of it, my favourite person to RP with is probably Butler (come back to us baby). He knows that we have our difference in terms of prose style, but I think he is one of the few that can pull off extra frills (that actually make sense and sound good) and still convey a valid story, so it is more than easy to look past our differences.

I think there is a great amount of connection between our styles, even though at a first glance they are almost polar opposites. Butler conveys character well, and as a result whenever I write with him it makes things easier in terms of moving away from the clunky medium of RP writing (as Bac pointed out) and into a pretty damn fluid and dynamic relationship.

I'd have to reciprocate Pros' feelings. I too enjoy RPing with myself.

Honestly though, with Pros you always have a good bouncing board to ideas and one that is honest. He told me whenever an idea I had wasn't that good and I did the same. If we both felt that the other person was passionate enough about the idea then we rolled with it just to see where it would take us.

The length of his posts do get to me, but more often than not their contents are well thought out and calculated studies of the character or situation the characters are in.

There are plenty of writers on this site I have enjoyed RPing with such as Brandon, Jacques, Boli, and Shiuzu; but my time RPing with Pros is the only time I can look back and think, "I really learned something and developed my skills."

I hear that if you RP with yourself too often, you'll go blind!

Anywho, I'll echo what Johnny said. There's a great dynamic (and Johny and I have this) in finding someone with the right knack for rolling with --and generating ideas. Johnny also has a particular skill for developing characters in particular situations and a facility with dialog that I often envy --Whedonesque at times.

He's also great --if any of you is looking for a partner since he RPs in the main timeline and I don't-- at cutting through the bullshit in any given conceit or post. And he commits. I've rarely read a post by Johnny where it felt like he was just writing by the numbers. Which is great because his posts are like little patchwork skeins and quilts; there's all these strands that you can pick up, pluck, unravel, sensuously stroke (okay, that's more Johnny than anything else), but what I mean is that there's a great deal of being proactive in his posts even when he's reactive, and letting the narrative, story-grammar, thematic content, etc. speak for itself.

10/10 Would Bang/RP

I love writing and brainstorming ideas with you and all, Pros (and Graham too I guess)...but Johnny and I:

We had Dick 'n Wash. Oh the memories. The feels. The Dick Wash'ing.

I have fond memories writing with several people here. Though if I had to pick one person at this moment in time I'd say Jiang.

Over head is a good one. I joined with Valek just to see where things would go, and I believe it was one of Adena's comebacks to the RP. Turns out more cool peeps joined, deals were made, people got to know eachother, and it really turned into a fun RP in the end and led to some even better RPs, namely Appointments which has to be my favorite one so far. Adena basically turned the RP into a "Create your own Adventure" RP because she told me not to **** up and I did not want anyone to die.

Though this one really had me laughing.

Gone With The Great Wind was my first RP on this site and has been my favorite thus far. I had not RP'd in roughly seven years and it was cathartic to flesh out a character again and let the captive creativity out. My favorite person to RP with is Songweaver (aka: Resolute\\.ZEN) who plays Ze'kyre Saixc. He became Nakoma's master and is such a detailed and passionate writer. It was a pleasure to write with someone who is clearly quite talented. I wish that he wouldn't have had to take a hiatus. :( Come back soon!!!
