Faz looks like an average Kel Dor male. He stands around 6’7” and weighs over 200 lbs just from his large stature. He has a large scar across his face, although it is not as noticeable as it used to be thanks to how it healed. He has four fingers on each hand, as do all Kel Dor. Faz wears the usual mask and eyewear of his people due to their biology and problems on other worlds.
SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES:
Faz is a charmer, a natural diplomat. His primary strength is his negotiating ability. He knows Basic, Bocce, Huttese, Bothan, among others, but has difficulty actually speaking them himself, which does/can hinder negotiations. It often comes out as syntactically incorrect phrases and sounds. Thus, he sticks to his own tongue more often than not, though Basic is usually fine. He is not often forceful in his diplomacy/negotiating, but when pressed on urgent matters can lose his calm demeanor.
Being so tall, Faz is an intimidating figure, not to mention his species is often mysterious, leading to the imposing pre-judgment of his character. In fact, Faz is quite kind and gentle, although he will use his size as a means to intimidate when necessary.
In addition, he is a well-rounded combatant, excelling in both hand-to-hand combat and long-range shooting. This training comes from his days in the Serene Dorinic Federation’s military. He prefers the use of reason over the trigger, but if pushed, he will use force to achieve his ends. Faz is also an adept pilot, having gained advanced training through his service on Dorin. He prefers to pilot Starfighters and other smaller aircraft, but would not be totally lost attempting to pilot anything larger.
Faz is sometimes called an elitist, but not in praising his own culture, rather by taking to cultures not his own. To his own people, he can be viewed as part of the “progressive” youths attempting to erase their heritage. While this is not really correct, Faz has been known to look down on the tribal values and ways of his fellow Kel Dor.
Faz is sometimes a rule-breaker, particularly when he believes there are better ways of accomplishing goals be it for the Galactic Alliance or himself. This has undoubtedly brought him into trouble with practically everyone.
In terms of physical strength, he is fairly average among his species. His height does give him some advantage in a melee combat, but otherwise his physical strength is average and provides no special remarks or comments from those around him. One could say he is “normal.”
Faz has a reasonable understanding of Imperial Republica and the Old Empire’s cultures and societal systems as a result of his education on Coruscant. While this may provide insight on a macroscopic level, it does not necessarily aid anyone in combat or day-to-day dealings. He understands cultures and governments quite well, and is somewhat of a scholar.
PERSONALITY:
Faz is, as described above, a charmer and natural diplomat. He is an artisan of the spoken word and has been known to court many a female Kel Dor, with moderate success. Beneath the charming exterior, Faz is a serious and idealistic man, born of hate for the Empire in all its forms and yearning for rebellion across the galaxy.
He has many close friends and is easy to get to know. Faz will strike up conversation with most people he meets and is never afraid to be vulnerable. However, some secrets even he won’t divulge not even to friends. Faz does not enjoy small talk, however. He prefers intellectual musings, pontifications, debate, and whispers of rebellion.
Faz is a firm believer in pragmatism - things should be looked at on a case-by-case basis. One instance here may yield a different result from a similar instance over there, and so on. He was extremely well-educated by the standards of Dorin, having been sent to Imperial Republica by his parents for an education, which also gave rise to his intense hatred. Unlike many Kel Dor that were sent to the Empire for an education, he made it out without being brainwashed.
BIOGRAPHY:
Faz Mos’El was born in the capital city of Dorin, the home of the Kel Dor people and the hub of the Serene Dorinic Federation. His parents were low-ranking Ministers in Parliament, members of the Hope Coalition, a mildly forward thinking faction that consisted of progressive politicians by Dorinic standards.
Faz, an only child, did not find it hard to make friends as a youth. In fact, the lack of siblings at home forced him to seek out other children to make friends with. This also fueled his interest in “adventure” by which shenanigans and youthful acts of rebellion occurred. By age 16, Faz was known as a “delinquent” child.
Particularly because of his rebellious antics, his parents shipped him to an elite academy in Imperial Republica space on Coruscant. While they were wary of Imperial influence on their son, they felt the decision would stamp out his immature ways. The academy was Faz’s first interaction with people outside of the Federation, and that was invaluable in the development of who he would become.
During the 5 years he spent on Coruscant at the academy, Faz grew to despise the Empire in all its forms. The nature of their society, the way they treated people and outsiders, the way everyone acted. It was unlike Dorin, unlike the Federation, unlike his people. He certainly enjoyed the varied persons he met, and the cultures they had. But, the norms imposed by the Imperial Republica were rotten in Faz’s mind.
By the time he’d left the city-planet, he’d made up his mind: if rumors of rebels be true, he’d jump to them in a heartbeat. He traveled home, now age 21, were spent his time in the Dorinic Federation’s military as a rifleman. For the next 9 years, he’d spend running drills, practicing war games within Dorin and Vicondor. This was when he was informed of some, heartening news: a rebel by the name of Dern Yorskie, a human former pirate that quite the life of crime to join the Galactic Alliance had been spotted in the undercities. Dern had spent much time on Dorin as a place for hiding out between pirate raids. Now that he was done with that life he was putting out feelers and whispers of rebellion against the Empire and its various factions.
Faz sought out Dern, and when he did locate the man, the two became quick friends over their vehement disgust toward the Imperials. The next three years they spent coordinating, planning, gathering like minded individuals on Dorin and Vicondor. Soon, Rebellion would arise.
GEAR:
In terms of weapons, Faz carries with him an A10 Long-Blaster, a DH-7 Blaster Pistol, and a single vibroblade. In terms of armor, Faz wears standard Rebel Trooper Armor, a special rebreather and eye-wear when off the planet Dorin (which is standard for all Kel Dor), and his armor includes jump boots (a staple from his days in the Serene Dorinic Army).
