@Sreeya @Lamper @Flamjetxx

Hey guys, OOC for our battle thread. I've already had one admin ruling this week (technically today) and despite it going in my favor i'd reeeeeeally like to not have another one lol so hopefully we can settle anything that comes up in here rather than elsewhere :p

I can't be the only one here who watches Seinfeld?

Erm, Lamp, mang, i specifically mentioned in my post that the hill Corvo's on offers concealment soooo the whole "standing in the open" and being able to instantly see him is kinda not gonna work... probably just missed it, which is cool.

Also as a side note, Corvo's to the right of the base (his view would be approximately the one we see in the picture), so the mine field probably wouldn't be on his right though that depends on which direction he's facing and isn't probably as important, just so there's no confusion where he's at

Edit: dat typo though

Okay I'll wait for @Lamper before I post then. Also, @Flamjetxx where are you in the rp? Neither Lamper nor I could figure out from your reply >_>

Good question... I'm just kinda... here.
edit
Yeah, I have no idea. I just plopped him down on the battlefield. I think it would be safe to say I am within a line of sight from Corvo, but ont right spankin' next to him. If you want to deribe the playingfield, it doesn't matter to me or not, but I imagined being trees around... it being Felucia and all, nd if I can rcall correctly, I said Troapa was doing a perimeter, so he probably wouldn't be right next to the base, but a bit further out.

*Last thing: I want to point out that using a Rancor is dangerously close to using an NPC, if not actually using an NPC. It doesn't rain on my parade at all, so I'll leave it up to someone else to badger you about removing it @Lamper, should anyone decide to do so.

Rancor is only for the minefields or other surroundings. It won't be used beyond that post and definitely wont have any direct interaction with the pcs.

Wait so @Phœnix baby i'm confused. Is Corvo under cover of trees, like in the tree line? And the trees are on said hill where Corvo's standing? Or is the hill Corvo's on bare and the trees block sight of Corvo from a certain point of view? I read it as the latter. I get that Corvo's behind the hill, in the dip underneath it, but Aibhne climbed a tree to survey the base where he'd be able to see over the hill. Unless it's a really deep pothole dude's standing in?

Sorry if I read that wrong. I'll totally edit to suit your picture of everything. Just not 100% what that is yet :oops:

EDiT: Wait So Corvo's behind a distant hill, a hill that would overlook the tree line from a ways off?

So for sake of future reference, let's say the bottom of the image is south, top north, etc. Corvo's just inside the tree line on top of the hill to the South crouched and obscured by da bushes/foliage.

Yeeeeeaaaaah <.<

Edit: I mean did you see the OOC last time Lamper and i fought >.>

Sounds gud buddy! So the main road is eastward. The bottom of the image is south. Your covered bottom is south. And I'm coming from east on the south side of the yellow brick road in the mushroom tips. :cool:

Why would you LIKE that post /\ ?!? That is horrible! A car accident, even a bumper scratch can be a literal nightmare, because... you know, everyone is out to make a buck off of everyone for anything.

Cause I'm an insurance agent and this stuff puts food on my table.

I just don't want anyone getting comfortable with using NPCs of the like to combat attacks. Because today it will be a random rancor thwarting a minefield specifically set up as a threat to an enemy, and tomorrow, it will be a bird flying out of the bushes just as someone is making a game-ending move... Granted, I know you guys better than to do such a thing, but we, as senior members of the RPing community set an example for the newer members to follow, and I don't want to send the wrong message, since there is likely a great deal of folks observing this duel.

I know it seems like I want to make a big deal of it, but I am just cautioning Lamper is all.

PS. It also might have a tiny bit to do with my being bothered by the realism of the fact that a Rancor is thromping about right next to our characters, and that we OOCly know that the rancor wont be a bother, but ICly, there is a very real threat to the characters. Lol

TIL @Sreeya actually feeds @Bauren like a mother bird would her children, except instead of worms it's a car accident and insurance unpleasantness.

This mental image actually really bothers me.

I think that's an unfair comparison. What I'm doing is more like throwing a rock at a window to get a person to react to the shattering sound.

The intension of the rancor isn't to thwart an attack. It's to turn heads. The rancor's only running through the south hemisphere of mines on the south side of the main road, and only setting off the ones in that hemisphere in its path before it'll be killed. So it's eliminating about 25% of the mines, but only to make a bang; not to take out the mines. And originally it's only meant to roar and stomp around to draw attention, it running through mines is an unforeseen bonus.

So I say we let this one go.

See this is where my mistake proves my innocence. Cuz, I previously misread the part about where Corvo was and thought he was in a completely different area away from the rancor's path (and isn't he still not in the rancor's immediate path?). So by Phœnix correcting me on that bit put Corvo on the same south side as a byproduct. And nobody knows where Troapa is lol, so I didn't even know if the rancor was near him.

But da rancor won't influence our duels, though I think it would be cool to have it flailing around behind us through the whole fight; just dying all miserable and painful like lol.

Yeah, i get what flam is saying about the rancor, that said, i don't think it should be too terrible of an issue, but it does push the line. Hopefully not being obnoxious about this buys us some goodwill later if we need it.

Working on a post now, should be able to get one up soon.

@Sreeya @Flamjetxx @Phœnix

I'm so confused... Hills and valleys and dense foliage but thin and recently cut foliage. Troapa's behind the base, then doesn't hear the explosions very well cuz he's below a decline in a valley, but then he's on top of a hill, but then he's going up a path that takes him behind Shae who's facing the base so Troapa's come all the way from behind the base and around behind Shae on the opposite side if I'm reading this right? Can we establish what our surroundings look like and decide where everyone is? Also, the two Jedi were both running from the same rancor, and she saw Aibhne climb the tree, so the two Jedi are relatively close to each other. No one's all the way down a hill. Aibhne climbed a tree (I would think near Corvo) with the base in sightline from the top of that tree, to see the base and its surroundings being the whole reason for climbing the tree. So Aibhne wouldn't climb a tree at the bottom of a hill. I don't care what everything ends up being, if I could just get a clear picture of what that is. Thanks guys! ;)

Hrn, so let's see if i can get everyone's positions right.... Corvo's on top of the hill at the bottom of the picture, initially hidden by foliage until he stands, swivels and fires at Sahe who's a little bit easy of Corvo and creeping up on him.

Troapa is on the other side of the hill (further south and out of the picture frame) and is coming over the hill at the sound of da rancor (hard to miss). Explosions happen and he's still on his way. At this point Shae and Corvo begin to "engage" before Troapa gets there. Aibhne is in a tree further east (right side of picture) of everyone and on top of the hill. Is that where everyone's at?

That sounds reasonable to me. If everybody's cools with that, I'll go with that. Thanks again!
