Fenn Saxon

25 standard years // 1.8 meters // 74.8 kilograms // [Rank] // Clan Saxon // Mandalorian Dominion

Biography

Fenn Saxon, born a scion of Clan Saxon, began his life as a promising recruit for the Border Alliance, not unlike many Mandalorians born on the fringes of Republic space. His early teenage years were spent defending the borders of the Republic from probes from the shadowy Sith Brotherhood. When the Brotherhood finally returned to known space, commencing its war with the Jedi Order and the Republic, Fenn was one of the many child soldiers there to meet them. In many ways, war was his life.

It didn't take long for the Mandalorian recruits in the Alliance to become disgruntled with the Republic. Refusing to raise an army of their own, the Republic was essentially using a loose brotherhood of volunteers to protect their territory from a well-trained and bloodthirsty Sith military. Defections soon became rampant, and, all the while, in Mandalorian space, the Death Watch was reformed. Disgruntled Mandalorians flocked to Death Watch; among them was Fenn and the rest of his Clan.

While still in his youth, Fenn fought in the battles on Rodia, Tatooine, and Geonosis, all of which cumulated in Death Watch gaining official territory—a base from which to establish itself and stage further actions. The battles also meant turning against the Republic he had once protected, as well as fighting off a new enemy: the Accord. In subsequent battles on Keldabe, including a successful bombing at Keldabe Garrison, Fenn saw much of his youthful mindset erased despite still being a young teenager. In its place was the mind of a seasoned and experienced Mandalorian solider.

The battle for Mandalore was Death Watch's crowning achievement. Though slightly older when the battle occurred, Fenn was still a teenager and participated in the battle. Though Mandalore was won, and Death Watch reformed into the Mandalorian Dominion, Fenn lost his older sister during the fighting. Her loss weighed heavily upon him and he temporarily lost his drive to fight, viewing himself as a pawn of the Mandalorian desire for Mandalore as much as he had been a Republic pawn in their desire to keep their hands unsoiled during the early war with the Sith. His feelings were made subsequently stronger when the Sith began to support the Dominion, leaving them alone so long as the Mandalorians made life hell for the Jedi and the Republic.

For a time, Fenn lost his way. He left the fledgling Dominion behind and used his considerable experience for bounty hunting under the employment of various crime syndicates in the Outer Rim Territories. He used his earnings primarily on alcohol, which he used to black out memories of his sister's death and of all the people he was responsible for killing. He was at a bar on Malastare the day the Mandalore, Prudii Kyramud, fell while fighting on Coruscant.

As the fighting grew worse, bounty hunting gigs turned more and more political, as all sides of the volatile conflict desperately sought advantages over the other by targeting important political figures.

Fenn's time as a bounty hunter made him infamous.

As a result, Fenn dug deeper into criminal underground, distancing himself from the war at the expense of more dangerous jobs. He was frequently dispatched by the Hutt Clan to secure their interests on Coruscant, especially after the city-planet fell into Sith hands. These assignments frequently saw him breaking into rival crime lords' complexes and assassinating key members of their organization—if not the rival crime lord themselves. All the while, he kept a casual eye on the continued growth of the Dominion as it undertook new leadership in the form of a Prime Minister and a new Mandalore, Talia Al'saf.

Fenn's time as a bounty hunter took him up against many tough opponents. Though he attempted to remain separate from the war, occasionally he was unable to avoid confrontation with one of the major factions—particularly the Jedi. As a result, he became quite seasoned at combating Force-sensitive individuals. This became less prominent after the devastation of Tython and the Jedi began to focus their attention chiefly on the Sith. However, on one notable occasion, he was forced to fight and kill an unusually persistent Jedi Knight named Jadis Kraven after the woman tracked him across three systems.

Killing Jadis earned him the name "Jedi killer" among the criminals and Hutt-servants in the underworld and more syndicates began to attempt to hire him to deal with Jedi troublesome to their own operations. Realizing his actions would force him to take a side in a war he had no intention of involving himself with any longer, Fenn left the bounty hunting life and, for a time, fell off the radar.

He was surprisingly inactive in the aftermath of the fall of the Old Republic. During the subsequent five years, he took smaller jobs as a part-time smuggler and also as occasional muscle for important figures, both politically and for high-profile crime lords. His travels took him to Doan, where he temporarily worked as hired muscle for the royalty there. Invariably, he wound up on Takodana, where a local pirate mistress had a fortress dedicated to those lost souls in the galaxy who came from questionable backgrounds and careers.

The fortress' mistress was a shrewd and wise individual, who was able to see that, despite all that he had done, Fenn was still a good person deep within. Marred by war and deeply troubled, yes. But good. She also told him that he had the "eyes of a true Mandalorian." Hearing this, and after staying at her fortress awhile longer, Fenn returned to the Mandalorian Dominion to face the judgement of his Clan.

Though his work as a bounty hunter and hired muscle greatly dishonored Clan Saxon, the family ultimately accepted his justification: that his sister's death disillusioned him — that he lost his way and led a dishonorable life — but that he was returning to right his wrongs and fight for the Mandalorian people. He swore off bounty hunting (and alcohol), embraced his title as a Jedi killer, and joined the Mandalorian warriors in time for them to gear up as they prepared to return to the war front, this time on even footing with the Sith and the Jedi Knights.

Personality

Fenn Saxon was heavily shaped by war, which he has spent the entirely of his life either fighting or running away from. Before the Sith menace returned to known space, he was a child soldier fighting miscellaneous threats on the edge of Republic space. During this period, he bore witness to the deaths of many innocents—children and adults alike.

By the time the Sith Brotherhood returned and engaged the galaxy in war, he was already numb to many forms of death and was a hardened soldier in most respects. Years on the borders had taught him to become a killing machine, and he was quite effective at executing his enemies no matter their perceived innocence. This was mostly due to his youthful belief that, much like himself, no one was truly innocent and therefore, on some level, all were deserving of death. The only exception to this, it seemed, was his older sister Boe.

Boe Saxon was three years Fenn's senior and was in many respects his mentor. As a result, Fenn was unconditionally loyal to his sister and followed her lead in every battle they took part in. She was responsible for instilling in him Mandalorian values to the point that she could be considered a parental figure, even though both of their parents were alive and present for their upbringing. Boe's death on Mandalore was devastating to Fenn, temporarily causing him to lose his way, though he eventually returned to avenge her death.

His years as a bounty hunter and hired muscle allowed Fenn to develop a bit of an alter ego. Using one of numerous aliases, he was able to appear to be a naive, skilless, and even clumsy teenager (later young adult), when he was in reality a ruthless killer. While using this fake persona, he could appear to be quite nice, even caring; but, at the same time, he was able to kill in cold blood, without much remorse (though it should be noted that he turned to alcohol to erase the memory of the people he'd killed, suggesting he did feel some guilt).

Over time, this "double life" bled into one another. At times, he was content being the happy, goofy teenager he pretended to be; at others, he felt he should always be a ruthless killer, because that is what helped him stay alive. It wasn't until his time on Takodana that he realized that the facade he had worn to lure in his targets, or to ward off suspicion, was really part of him and was who he was at heart.

Afterwards, he adopted a blend of the two personality types. While he mostly appears cool, collected, and detached, he has proven himself capable of caring about and even loving other beings. However, at the same time, he is quite able to kill and protect those he deems important to him thanks to the parts of him damaged by years of war. He hates Jedi with a passion, due to their role in killing his sister, and was strongly dissatisfied with the Republic when it was still a political entity.

Abilities

Fenn's skills included dealing with Force-sensitives.

Fenn is a tried and true warrior mostly due to his upbringing.

He is a heavily trained combatant with incredible, battle-tested reflexes and intuition. As a Mandalorian, he received training in both unarmed and armed combat, to such a degree that he was able to take on Force-sensitive Jedi Knight-level opponents (mostly) unarmed. Armored and armed, he is even more deadly as a warrior.

As a soldier—first in the Border Alliance, then in Death Watch, then as a bounty hunter, and later in the Mandalorian Dominion—he is a skilled demolitionist and can operate a variety of weapons. His favorite tool is his whipcord thrower which he uses to disarm and incapacitate an opponent before finishing them off.

He is a trained pilot who is able to operate both starfighter and freighter-class ships with relative simplicity. The basics of operating and hijacking capital-class ships is known to him, though he has had precious few opportunities to practice. That said, he is a talented ship mechanic and can fix a variety of common issues whenever a ship is damaged.

His time with the Hutt Clan in the criminal underground of the galaxy granted him valuable insight into the skills of a common criminal. For instance, he has learned the basis of slicing and hacking secure systems. He has mostly used this skill to access information he needs from relative computers or HoloNet systems.

Technically a post-TS character, but I wanted to get this up so that I could start the approval process and all that jazz. Tagging @Arclight so that he can review at his leisure. Also tagging @Wit for the Jedi involvement in the backstory. Cheers.
