Hello! This is my first time trying something like this. I absolutely love Star Wars and everything to do with it.

I have a few questions before I get started:

1. How silly can a character be? I wanted to make my character a human, with his great great great great grandmother being a Twi'Lek, making him 1/32 Twi'Lek. (I think) Are things like that allowed?

2. Can your character outright lie to other characters? Or do you have to notify the person OOC if your character is lying to theirs?
I had planned on making a character who has a tendency to backstab people who he can trick into helping him.

3. Can tediously trained physical abilities, grueling past experiences with both Jedi and Sith, and pure, revenge-based determination be used to combat force powers used by force users? I wanted my character to have a Grudge against certain force-using factions *cough* Jedi/Sith *cough*, so I figure before his story here begins, his backstory should be riddled with fights with lone Sith or pilgrimaging Jedi. Thus he knows how to hunt and kill said factions, being able to somewhat make up for his lack of force-sensitively in a fight.
Essentially, I think he should already be very acrobatic, have a good grasp of the ways that both Jedi/Sith fight, and have a couple of gadgets that either counter or mimic force powers (I.e. Magnet boots for grabbing onto metallic surfaces if he were to be force pushed, or small wires attached to his weapons so that if he is disarmed, he can "force-pull" them back into his hands.)
Of course he shouldn't have all the answers, I also want him to discover new ways to combat the force sensitive beings of the Galaxy as his adventure here progresses.

4. I don't think I looked hard enough, but I couldn't find anything on what the current time period in the universe is. When and where are we all during this RP?

5. I want my first character to be a bit of a hoarder, so can I loot objects from my enemies? (Lightsabers, unique Weapons, sweet gear, artifacts, etc.) Also, can a secret base (preferably a desolate ship/space station) be owned by a brand-new character? Or will I need to acquire one? And when my character dies, can I create a character who finds/inherits this base and then dedicates it to something else (like selling all the previous owner's treasure hoards?)

Thank you a ton! And I hope to play with you all soon!

I can give you an answer for 2, 4 and 5.

Yes characters can lie to one another, though making notes of the action in a non-dialogue sentence would help so that the other writer would know what's going on. The vast majority, if not all, will never meta anything like that so you'd be completely safe there. You can refer to my roleplays with Morinth to show an example or two of lying in character.

Timeline wise we're old republic roughly 1000 years before the prequels and 100 to 200 or so years from Bane.

With looting, if the character is killed i wouldn't see any reason not to be able to take their gear considering the character would need to be archived anyway. I would ask the writer though if that would be alright beforehand.

Also for secret bases and inheritance, as long as it makes sense for the character and there's legitimate reasoning behind it other than "oh hey i want to have a secret base because I'm super edgy, bleh." it would be fine. That's just my opinion, your character can pretty much have what they want as long as it makes sense for them to have it. If you're looking to have a secret base as a ship or something like that you might need to do a writeup in the tech boards if it wouldn't be generic.

I hope this helped, other people should also comment on this post and help as much as possible. Everyone is generally friendly.

Just don't trust @Deviant They're the worst AFL in history <3

To be honest I rarely ever see people react realistically to an IC lie. It's always the same. Their charackter somehow knows that your charackter isn't being truthfull and the whole idea of being secretive ends up being a painfull and pointles exercise in futility.

But hey, if you manage to find someone who can pull it of to play out a lie propperly with you, please point me in their direction.

Pro tip: don't start killing characters while being "secretive" or you will run out of people to play with real quick.

Anyways, welcome! Enjoy your stay.

Welcome to SWRP!

1. Your character can be as silly as you'd like! Just, not too crazy, plz.

2. You're more than welcome to lie to other characters ICly. @Kuroshi answered this question quite nicely, so no need for me to continue. @FinnSimmons is also right, however: expect prospective consequences for lying, either ICly or OOCly. But, as long as nobody dies, you'll probably be fine.

3. I believe killing a number of Jedi or Sith within your backstory will require approval from either faction leadership. I'm sure you'll be fine though, so go on right ahead. As for your gadgets idea, we actually have forum tech members can individually create and utilize. Check out this lovely tech guide here, and you may find several items that might be of some use against force-users. For example, the supernova grenade cuts off one's connection with the force with the click of a button.

4. Approximately a thousand years before the Phantom Menace. There isn't any specific date, however.

5. Oh god, another hoarder! Banter aside, there should be nothing stopping you from just looting the bodies of enemy characters. HOARD, HOARD, HOARD! Also, as for owning your own desolate station, I can't be entirely sure. Personally, I feel that you would have to acquire said station first. Naturally, your character can still start with their own ship or freighter, so at the same time, I think living up in some empty station or large ship shouldn't be an issue.

Hope that helps. If you have anymore questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask.

Have an incredible stay!
