I'm Steve, though usually get called "mantis" on the webbernets. I'm apparently middle-aged, though I'm not sure when that happened. I live in a city known for pizza, hot dogs, and political corruption.

I like baseball, grilled pineapple, and the part in the movie when the hero explores what they can do with their new powers. I listen to French House, Southern Rock, and 90's hip-hop. I like high fantasy and low-brow humor. I'll watch any vampire movie with a decent budget because I like to see the wide range of interpretations of that theme and I like space-themed sci-fi for similar reasons. I keep coming back to Star Wars because no matter how much I adore Mass Effect or Halo, the depth of this setting is amazing.

I've been role-playing since I was a teenager and I've explored a number of different avenues for that from D&D around the dinner table to international vampire LARP, and though this will be my first time with this kind of forum-based play I've done stuff that's similar enough that I think I have a good handle on it.

I've got a couple of ideas for PC's and I'd love some input from more experienced players.

1. Jor ____ - Mandalorian bounty hunter, former soldier of the Republic, then a bit of a scoundrel who fancied himself a gunslinger, now he's settled into a life somewhere in between. Would like to put together a little crew of 2-3 other PC's to make this into a regular adventuring party. Also, would like a proper Mando house to claim.

2. A Chiss(?) intelligence officer. This character takes its inspiration from cold war-era spy stories. A sort of spy-master like "Mother" from the old Avengers, or "Alexander Waverly" from The Man From U.N.C.L.E., "M" from the James Bond series. I'm not sure which side he'd work better for, so if anyone has any input I'd be happy to hear it.

And finally, a couple questions about site that I haven't found answers to already, I could ask these on the "help" forum, and I will if I need to, but I figured I'd tack them on to the end here.
First is there a consolidated source to find timelines of events in the current... I dunno what to even call it, Chronicle? Campaign? Arc?
And second, how *ahem* adult is acceptable for RP? The SW canon certainly tends to dance around anything graphic, but there are definitely adult themes at play. My tolerance is pretty high, but I understand not everyone feels that way and I'd prefer not to cross any lines.

As for the graphic level of the site, per the rules:

• C. When it comes to subjects that could be controversial such as torture, rape, pedophilia, excessive gore, etc., please steer clear of it. You can have torture and gore and such, but it must be kept to a minimum and it cannot be graphic in any way. However, you may not portray rape, pedophilia, etc. in any form. Please use common sense.

Swearing OOCly should be kept to a zero. At least, that's what our darling New Members' Administrator @Padmé recommends. :^)
Lastly, as for what character you should do: why not both? They're both great ideas - all ideas I'd love to thread w/ sometime.

That's helpful, thanks. I'm not keen on anything too wild and crazy on either the sex or violence end of things, I just want to make sure I have a sense for what's considered appropriate for the site. So thank you for helping to clarify.
