Admiral Francis Raleigh
Admiral of the Thirteenth Republic fleet, Raleigh is a brilliant military officer, known for acting under pressure at a higher rate than any other officer of his class. He keeps all information flowing at his fingertips, so as nothing escapes his notice. A track record in nearly every major naval action in recent history has given the Admiral considerable weight at the Admiral's table.
Born to a family in the hyperspace scouting business, Francis has grown up around ships, mastering maintainence, survival, flight and combat. As soon as he was able, Raleigh applied to the officer academy on Coruscant.
Socially, he did not do well, not fitting in with the often well-to-do second born sons of rich officials, Raleigh's common nature grating on the etiquette championed by his peers. Many of those schoolmates are still commodores. Raleigh thrived in live tests, but would barely scrape through the written and theory tests. It was as if he could only work in the field.
Once in the field, the young Francis outshone his other Lieutenants. The book smarts of his fellows were no match for sheer talent of the young man. He quickly advanced through the ranks, joining the Thirteenth fleet, the then Commander gained experience in the high pressure actions of the thirteenth ''Hammer'' Fleet, used for Assault and fast response, the areas in which Francis excelled, gaining his first command. Again, rising through sheer hard work, Francis is now Admiral of the fleet he served in, knowing each and every ship in his fleet. Believing firmly in hands on in command, Admiral Raleigh has no flag-captain, commanding his flagship, the Triumph, himself.
His latest action in the Hutt war, the battle for Denon, one of the few battles that are a victory for the republic, though a victory, did horrible damage to Raleigh. In what is now being dubbed the 'Raleigh Rush' among the lower level officers, Raleigh lost his Right eye and arm. Although having a cybernetic eye implanted, to link him to battle feeds without need of a headset, an augmented reality overlay, he left the arm removed, using it as a symbol to show how much he was willing to lose for his republic.
He is currently the most senior admiral in the Republic navy, holding great influence on the admiralty board. He is still seen flying his flag from the lead, commanding sternly and without pause from the custom-rigged holo-tank on his command deck.
