Saw that we didn't have a thread for this, so I decided to make one.

What do you guys think of the current results of the first round?

To be honest, I'm disappointed. Originally, I supported Melenchon, but I guess now I'll have to back Macron in hopes that France won't fall to the evil witch Le Pen take a more agreeable path

Please use appropriate language.
Again we see the entire political establishment left and right spring to the aid of a thoroughly corrupt political [REDACTED] to defeat an honestly really rather moderate right wing candidate.

From what I read, it looks like fake documents were mixed in with the ones stolen and then released. Quite a nasty, underhanded tactic. This is actually quite interesting to see, in terms of how it will affect future elections. If this starts becoming a semi-common issue, how will political parties react in terms of improving security? No system is unhackable unless you bury the computer in a concrete tomb with no hard or wireless connection.

I have not studied Macron's or Le Pen's policies so I can't really say who I favor.

This was claimed instantly after the leak came out. When I last checked Wikileaks stated it had found no false documents thusfar.

I meant the whole "Milk-Toast Establishment Center-Leftist" versus "Racist, Populist, Far-Right Lunatic" thing.

Let me tell you, coming from someone who is actually rather down a ways toward "the right", particularly with regard to immigration; Le Pen is a moderate.

I like how people think Macron is anti-establishment.
As a banker who worked for the Rothschilds, and then worked for the Government, he is the polar opposite.

Le Pen is still worse than him though.

Melenchon was the best candidate though

That tax thing is pretty crazy, but it would've never passed, and otherwise his policy is awesome.

Either way, France dodged a bullet. Thank god Le Pen didn't win
Aw, I thought the far whack-zany-Right was gonna get a hat trick.

To be honest, me too

Trump was a surprise, and if Le Pen won, that would've probably signified the rise of the reactionaries worldwide

In hindsight he was obvious, but of course its 20/20.

People are sick of the status quo and thought they could throw him at the government like a human cocktail bomb.

But still, thank goodness.

Really happy that France did not follow in the path of the US and UK. Yeah, Macron is not the ideal president at all, but definitely a better choice than Le Pen and the FN for sure.

Wait, before we pile any more praise on Macron deos he have any significant skeletons in his closet? I wanna know if this was a lesser of two evils vote or if he is actually a decent politician.
