GALAF Newsletter 7/3/17

'Serpent' Fleet Update!

Welcome back, soldiers!

Now, I know it hasn't been very long since our last update, but I am extremely happy to announce several major events since I last addressed all of you. So, without further ado, let's begin!

The New 'Serpent' Fleet

The most major announcement we have right now is the recent absorption of the Void Serpents into GALAF. As of 6/30/17, the Void Serpents have become the 'Serpent' Fleet, the main raiding arm of the GALAF Resistance Cell. With that, all VS members are now members of GALAF, and all VS assets are now under GALAF's oversight, although the 'Serpent' Fleet will mostly be undertaking its own operations under Imperatrix Apophe KeYahm.

With all this, we now have a bit of a safe haven on Zakuul where we can rest, relaxe, and resupply, before venturing out into the stars. On the OOC level, @Retroboy will now be an acting AFL, working primarily on converting existing VS materials to reflect their new status in GALAF. So, look forward to a new 'Serpent' Fleet writeup, as well as a Zakuul writeup, in the near future!

(I also made a slick new 'Serpent' Fleet emblem, which you can see at the top of the thread. I made it wibble too!)

(Other) New AFL

Now, observant members will have noticed my little message over in Slars's Narcissistic Mission Pack:

And indeed he is! @Kaane will now be helping out with mission packs and writeups in an official capacity, including an upcoming Quartermaster Log. So let's all give him (And @Retroboy I guess) a round of applause!

PVP Training

So, as one might guess, we will eventually come into contact with the Sith proper in MAN TO MAN COMBAT. With that in mind, i'm currently working on setting up IC PvP training sessions with several veteran members to teach anyone who'd like to get involved how to PvP in a safe environment. I'll be setting up a signup sheet hopefully in the next few days, depending on availability, so look forward to that.

And that's all we have for now! Remember that we have a discussion thread over on our own Discussion board, and we frequently use our Skype chat.

Cya on the field, troops!

Please note, not every member listed on the VS Roster is an active member of the Void Serpents. However, they are still being tagged as the announcement might still be pertinent to them.

Sadly I'm no longer with the vs bcs my character was brutally murdered in the privacy of someone else's home. As such you can remove my name from the roster.

Also plug to myself, the Shadow Syndicate welcomes anyone who wishes to make a character for an evil crime faction!

Didn't The Accord absorb an inactive faction as well. Only to later become an inactive faction it self months later ?

Factions absorb and merge all the time, especially indies. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it comparable.

The Accord remains the most successful indie faction to date.

It lasted 10 months, without warping or changing its values, leadership or name.

It had just shy of thirty members at any one stage.

It attracted members from across the board, with different styles of RP.

Hardly a failure of a faction.

Most indie factions, especially those run by Norbs, change values, leadership, and name monthly.

@TAC, Iiked the accord just fine. Just made an observation, though apparently not a complete one.

Also, Norb. I didn't say failure, i said inactive as well.

I think it's great what @Outlander is doing. Just felt like it was done before. That was all.

All three of the factions i've run, The Underground, The Accord, and now GALAF, have absorbed smaller indies. Over the course of these three factions, we've absorbed:

Hellfire|Solutions
Clan Orar
The Exchange
The Fireflies
The Void Serpents

The Underground became inactive due to my own inexperience and the subsequent death of my chatacter. The Accord became inactive due to my fault and own inactivity. Neither have any correlation to absorbing indie factions, especially when said faction is run by a good friend and AFL who already had a character in GALAF.

I don't have an issue with advertising. But implying that my faction is on the downward baselessly is something I wont let go by unchallenged, and thanks to @TAC and @Zaphod Norblebrox for pointing it out before I was able to respond.

I'm out too Outlander, I've lost the will to RP.
