All around them it rained. Pattering down upon her helmet Aila tried to shake the noise from her head, and keep focused on the task at hand. She wasn't letting down her allies, her employers, both technically. The wildlands of Mimban had a harsh beauty to them, one lost a little in the nighttime rain. Though it kept them obscured, and made their mission just that little bit easier. Few people really had reason to be here. Outside them, of course.

Looking over to the labour camp, she tripled checked her equipment. Armour on, blaster in hand, vibro-dagger on her belt, and few grenades hidden behind cloth on the back of her waist, a concussion grenade and two frags, she was as prepared as she could ever be. Though, truth be told, she prayed she wouldn't have to use them. If all went as planned, well...

No, it did no good to think hypotheticals now. Eyes on the prize, that was the saying,

"Bloody rain" she muttered before flicking on her comms "Alright, let's get what we came here for. In, get the security footage, out" Aila spoke to her allies. Hopefully they'd get through this without worry,

"Easy, right?" she spoke to herself again, as she laid against the rise of the hill, not far from the control centre, their target. Her current position was obscured from any onlookers from there and the surrounds, and with the darkness and rain her approach would be safe enough. This place was disgusting, what the Empire did to those it felt not worthy of its ironfisted 'peace'. She couldn't think about it. No.

It was time to get this done.

Inwardly, Devrim grumbled. He never enjoyed missions where he was out in the pouring rain — it was uncomfortable, impeded visibility, and made the ground slippery in case he needed to sprint. However, it was now or never. They were going to take the footage of the atrocities that happened in this labour camp on Mimban and release it to the Galaxy. Though the Empire may indeed turn a blind eye to it all, but the people would see and be outraged. Devrim was well aware of the effects that such tactics had on a population. Some would turn a blind eye, others would approve. But there would always be a remnant that decided to stand up and do something about it. Those people would be the spark that ignited the flames that will burn the Empire down. Devrim could think of no greater purpose than to usher in that downfall.

"As simple as that," the rebel replied, lifting his comms to his helmeted face. "Toland and I will provide a distraction for you. If all goes well, you'll have minimal resistance and we'll keep the guards on their toes." Returning his comms to his coat pouch, he nodded to his companion. They were both crouched along the barbed wire fence that led into the compound itself. Two tall watchtowers stood at opposite corners of the labour camp, with guards manning giant spotlights to survey the area. The two rebels had gathered their intel beforehand — this particular stretch of fence lay just beyond the visibility of both towers. Devrim lifted a pair of wirecutters to the fence that the'd brought along for the job, quickly and quietly snipping portions of the fence. After only a few minutes with the falling rain masking the sound of the cutters, a hole large enough for the rebels to crouch through was made. Stepping forward first, Devrim stowed the cutters and pressed the butt of his R5R to his shoulder.

"I'll head south and take out that watchtower's light," he relayed to Toland, pointing at the southernmost tower filled with the silhouette of several guards. Creeping slowly and purposefully from building to building, Devrim made sure he was out of the spotlight as he moved closer to his target. Reaching a position where he would easily be able to destroy the giant light, the rebel held still and quietly raised the comms to his helmet. "In position," he relayed in a whisper to Toland. On the former Imperial agent's mark, their assault would begin.

Toland's boots sank into the mud as he crouched, covering Devrim while he cut away the barbed wire fence. This wasn't the first time the ex-Imperial had worked in less than favourable weather conditions — but out of all of them, rain was definitely the most demoralizing. However, it provided them with one unique benefit: the noise of the rain falling constantly against the ground and roofs created a buffer under which the trio could move and act without detection. While Toland had a pair of wire cutters attached to his belt as well, it was more prudent to cover the other rebel while he worked. Nodding back to Devrim, he observed the immediate surroundings of the camp as well. As very few knew about the existence of this prison camp, the guards did not expect any outside intrusion; as such, what guards weren't posted at the watchtowers were relaxing inside the central compound out of the weather. In the event of an emergency, all of them would rush to investigate, and that was exactly what Devrim and Toland wanted. With the guards thus distracted, Aila would have uninterrupted passage through the main building to steal the security footage and evacuate without interruption.

With a human-sized hole cut through the fence, the two Rebel soldiers sneaked through, guns shouldered and senses alert. Toland nodded once again in affirmation to his companion before venturing in the indicated direction. Alternating between a slow pace behind each building and a quick dash between each gap, Vult eventually made his way to the far end of the camp where one of the watchtowers stood. Taking position next to a building, Toland raised his R5R up to the light, taking aim. "Go," he relayed to Devrim, pulling off a shot. However, a large droplet of water from the roof landed on his visor right as the light shifted, causing a glare straight into his eyes as he pulled the trigger. His shot went completely off course, hitting nothing as it fizzed out into the night sky. Come on, Toland, he internally reprimanded himself as he quickly wiped the water off his visor before lining up a second shot and firing. Without any further interruptions, the bolt connected, shattering the massive lamp and engulfing the surroundings in darkness. However, the guards stationed on the watchtower, alerted by his miss, were able to locate the intruder and fired several shots back in retaliation. Seeing this, Vult slipped back behind the building just in time before getting hit. Realizing he was no longer safe in his current position, Toland left the wall, retreating back towards Devrim and their entry point to find a more defensible location. "Target down, but I've been made." Aila was definitely getting the distraction she wanted.

The boys distractions made her approach all the easier. The two had experience on their side compared to her, and she had a very specific job to be doing. It was impressive to watch the pair breach the fence line, lining up their targets as the cued the mark to go. And that meant it was her time to move as well.

Pulling herself up from her prone position, Aila, blaster up, dashed through the muck and soggy grass as she moved desperately to the rear wall of the control room, hauling herself up against the wall as she tried to keep her breathing steady and avoid drawing attention. Devrim and Toland had that unenviable job. But with their work underway the place quickly sank into alert, guards scattering and searching for the strange source of the shots.

Sliding across the wall to the window, and her entryway, she could her muffled voices shouting, the sounds of boots clapping against the ground as they huffed out of the room to join the search. With a deep breath she edged her eyes to the window, catching the last image the security door to it falling closed, and the room laying empty, hers for the taking.

Up and over, into the control room she dropped, keeping her body low and out of sight as she attached her personal computer into the control rooms main system. It was an easy enough program, at first anyhow.

Though she'd been familiar with the systems layout when she left the Empire, it seemed more a whole new set of updates had rolled out, one that she wasn't prepared for.

//SYSTEM CLOSED//

Aila cursed under her breath at the sight,

"Kriff! I'm locked out, give me a little longer" she said, trying to hide the worry in her voice as she scrambled to the next machine, praying there was a back entrance she could slice into. Happily for her it seemed, someone hadn't been updating their machine, and she found herself in safer territory, sending herself quietly inside the system and into the camps interior workings. They'd lost time, but the mission wasn't over yet,

"Alright, scanning for logs now. Tell me if you need help, I'll see what I can do to take some heat off" she called over the mic, her eyes glued to the screen.

Varyn Rask hadn't been planning to come to Mimban, but when you needed to stop for an emergency ship repair, what could you do? Varyn's status as a Sith at least afforded him a decent level of respect from the rank and file, but the base commander seemed more than excited about getting him out of here sooner rather than later. Edgy Sith like Varyn tended to make other people uncomfortable.

Although he'd been given a bunk to stay in, sleep seemed to elude him. The vague dread that had settled over him was indicative enough that this was not a place he should be resting. The Force didn't seem to allow it, and there was no mistaking the growing darkness that had settled over the base. No doubt his partner would have felt it too, so Varyn had spent the evening walking around mostly on the inside of the base.

The labor camp wasn't something widely advertised, and the idea wasn't very appealing, but once Varyn had seen the list of people who were here, the explanation seemed much more agreeable. All sorts of criminals and scum with a few prisoners of the type he didn't agree with. But such allowances were what kept the Empire running and - when the kinks were ironed out again - would cause the Empire to be a galactic protector once again.

His endless wandering seemed to have paid off after some time, and an alert rang out in the base that there were intruders and shots fired. In an instant, Varyn's saber hilt was in his hand and he made for the control room, looking to gain an understanding of the attack from the surveillance cameras that watched the prisoners.

The door slammed open and Varyn was... a bit surprised to see a woman was already inside the control room. In the control room! he called into his comm, the saber in his right hand now alert and active. No doubt she would see him and respond in kind and he was ready for the move, already drawing on the darkness in the air to prepare to retaliate.

The work camp "conference room" was dimly lit, intended more for prisoner interrogations than debriefs on Nar Shadda terrorist attacks. Jarek had already met with the Empress herself for a debrief, so he wasn't exactly sure why he had to talk with a Sector Ranger as well. Something about an ongoing investigation into the actions of Clan Solus. Why they had to meet on Mimban was anyones guess, though Jarek suspected that it was the Force's fault. The Dark side was always up to no good and pushing him into situations he didn't want to be in.

"I already told the Empress all this, why can't you ask he-" His words were cut off as an alarm began to blare throughout the facility. Jerking his helmet onto his head from its position on the table, Jarek shot to his feet, waving a hand to open the interrogation room door as he stood. "With me!" he shouted an order to the Sector Ranger. Being a Sith within the Imperial Republic, even a mere Acolyte had benefits. Dpecifically that people followed your orders, usually without question.

Double-bladed saber in his hand as he rushed out the door, Jarek began to rush for the control room, not really sure where the threat was but knowing that would be the best place to find out. Perhaps it was dumb luck or perhaps it was the force guiding him, but either way he would hear a familiar voice shout over his helmet comlink just as he reached the control room. Opening himself to the force and igniting his sabers as the door slid open, he would enter the room to see a woman trying to access something on one of the computers.

"Freeze!" He would shout as he brought his double bladed saber in front of him, holding it in his left hand slightly perpendicular so that the top blade crossed in front of his torso and head, tilted slightly forwards as he stepped into the room and to the left side, to give the sector ranger behind him a clear shot from the doorway. The bottom blade jutted down and to his left side slightly. He was ready to move into action if the woman showed any signs of doing anything than comply with his command. His eyes flicked from the woman to the broken window she must have entered the control room through her, then back to the woman, all in a split second. He also spotted Varyn at another entrance to the control room, their positions flanking the intruder in an L shape.

This was going to be an interesting day.

Working with the Empire proved more of an annoyance most of the time, with the constant red tape and internal politics that ran through the Empire under Prince Elix's reign caused his job as a ranger to be hindered. With this new Empress in command things could be looking up, though the disgruntled Rodian suspected that it would most likely mean just new faces behind the tape.

He sighed as he listened to his Sith overlord speaking to him about business with various crimes that had sprouted up through the galaxy, his Sith counterpart seemed annoyed with the meeting point being selected to be held on the mud world of Mimban. The Rodian himself didn't like it, but he was finishing up business in the sector, if his intel was really that valuable they could come to him.

That was when the alarms came crashing to life. His counterpart moved with ease, sliding his helmet on and commanding Norro to follow him to investigate the sound. Not like I have a choice, he thought to himself as he grabbed his helmet and sliding it on. He would unsling his Doo-wop and follow quickly behind the man, listening in as a voice came through the priority communicators, calling to head to the control room.

The rodian would give a slight nod and storm ahead as he followed Jarek towards the door, letting the Sith enter and ready himself. The Sith had created an opening leaving the door exposed. The ranger would fill that gap, securing the entrance of the door, his rifle aimed center mass towards the suspect as he bent his knees slightly, as his right foot faced forward in the direction of the suspect, while his left foot was positioned slightly trailing--a standard tactical stance. "Listen to his commands, no one has to get hurt," he barked through his helmet's communicator--his finger resting on the trigger of his stun rifle.

The door slamming open focused Aila in an instant, her eyes darting up to see the door open and the Sith burst into the room. On instinct as he appeared, she pulled her drive from the computer and stepped back, turning her gun to him. She wasn't staying in case more were on the way.

Her blaster had been at the ready in her other hand, as the Sith called into his comm she fired two bolts in quick succession as she made a run for the window, one at his knees and one at his chest, not an easy pair of shots to deflect or dodge without losing focus, and it would take him more time and effort to deflect or dodge them than it took her to tilt her hand to make the two shots, especially given his concentration was already split to make the call, and his blade only just igniting.

At the same time she fired, Aila was running for the window she'd entered from not far behind her, and exited through it as the Sith dealt with the bolts. All this would only take moments, meaning she'd be out the window before the others could arrive to support the Sith.

She was getting out of here, hopefully something had downloaded and they had what they had come for. If not, better they all escaped with their lives for now.

Out of the window, she'd round the corner and out of sight of the Sith. With no windows on that side she'd easily disappear in the darkness of the night and the chaos of the camp, moving to exfil and leave this place.

Hearing the word from his companion, Devrim fired off a shot toward the second spotlight — causing it to burst in spectacular fashion and leave the compound in near-darkness. Save from the dim light of the moon, there was little that the watchmen would be able to see even from their position in the towers. Shouting coming from across the compound, Devrim knew that they'd caused enough damage to give Aila the cover she needed to get in and get out. The dark-haired rebel had personally seen how effective she was — now was the time for the two rebels to leave before being spotted and caught in the compound.

Despite the fact that the forced labour camp was filled with "criminals", many of these individuals were political prisoners and dissenters — rebels, much like Devrim and Toland. The reason they had hired Aila in the first place was to bring to light the unjust labour that these people were subjected to. With the camp already in disarray, the broad-shouldered rebel sprinted toward the fence that they had cut an opening through, reaching it in mere moments as he hadn't traveled far from it. Seeing Toland hot on his heels, Devrim knew that the two of them would escape without being caught. Without a word, he continued on to the rendezvous location where they would hopefully meet with Aila and leave this place.

Even over the steady patter of rain, Toland could hear the boots and shouts of the guards as they pursued him through the camp. Glancing back and forth for a more defensible position, he realized there was no real cover for him to bunker down behind. Seeing the poor situation he was in, Toland instead slid through the hole that Devrim had cut into the barbed wire earlier. "We have to bail, there are too many of them," he relayed over his comms. Clear of the fence, he continued his pace and rushed off into the woods towards their extraction point. Vult could only hope that all the guards had been drawn away by the short distraction and that Aila had managed to grab something of worth.

Since saying four words took all the mental concentration of a fruit fly, Varyn was more than prepared to address the woman's attacks. With his saber activated and already at his side it was only about a foot to move it in the path of the blaster bolt, sending it skidding off into the wall. The blade followed a clockwise motion from Varyn's perspective and caught the second bolt aimed at his chest in one fluid motion.

A single blaster took a second to cycle, which left the Sith more than enough time to yank her back with the Force he had already gathered as she hauled herself "up and over" the climb that she had had to drop down from to get inside. In fact, it took all but no time at all to pull her, and to make the climb - small as it may have been - she had to turn her back to him, leaving him completely unimpeded. His pull was quick, but would keep her from the window, slamming her back into the ground with enough force to knock the wind out of her.

With the other Sith now arrived - since they had arrived even while he was speaking into the comlink and she must have merely missed that - she had few options left to her but to surrender. Yet, somehow, he assumed that wasn't what she would do. With her partners having already opted to abandon her and "hopefully" meet her at the drop point, she was going to have a very uphill battle to get out. @Nightfall @Arclight @TWD26

The infiltrator did not comply with Jarek's orders, instead choosing to fire at Varyn and attempt to flee through the window that she had entered the secure facility through. Jarek wondered who had designed the command post with windows so easily entered from the outside. He wasn't exactly the brightest Sith out there and even he knew that a secure facility should have, at the least, military grade transparisteel for windows, if they even had windows at all.

Varyn deflected the blaster bolts easily enough and yanked the intruder away from the window, and Jarek would capitalize on the sudden jarring impact of hitting the floor. Reaching out with his hand, Jarek projected a grip around her blaster pistol and yanked. The impact of hitting the ground hard enough to knock the wind out of her would no doubt cause her grip to loosen briefly on the pistol, and his pull would finish the job of pulling the blaster pistol out of her hand to fly through the air and into Jarek's grasp.

"Stun her." He ordered the Sector Ranger who had taken up position in the doorway next to him, and he possessed the perfect weapon to carry out Jarek's orders.

Kriffing junk for brains, you should have just listened, the Empire can be tarkin' eschutta at times, but they're reasonable people. Oh well. He thought to himself as he watched the girl attempt to escape through the window and towards freedom. It was futile and it left her exposed to the men's ability to manipulate and use the force, he watched as Varyn used the force to throw the girl back towards the ground with a hard impact. Such an ability made him feel insignificant to the powers of such a mystic entity, he couldn't grasp it.

Jarek cunningly decided to use the force to pry the weapon away from the intruder, pulling the weapon out of the fight. It was his turn to prove he was useful. The room was tight and compact, and he was within the aiming distance to strike the target as she laid there on the ground. Aiming his weapon towards the center mass of her chest, his finger would quickly pull the trigger--feeling the slight recoil of the weapon, riding it and steadying it two more times, to fire a total of three stun shots towards the center mass of the woman. It wouldn't be lethal, but it sure would hurt.

As soon as Aila felt the grip on her back pull her back into the control room, she knew that she wasn't making it out. It made the smack into the floor all the more painful and frustrating to realise that. The bark of another enemy entering the room and ripping her blaster from her hand. Perhaps she could have held herself on the window, or clamped her hand down around the blaster, or rolled out of the way of the stun shots. But somehow it just didn't feel worth the effort, even if she did steal back her breath and throw herself aside. Three against one just wasn't the kind of odds one was meant to stack up against. Certainly not her.

So, as the blaster bolts thwacked into her chest, sending her jolting on the ground, her muscles tightening in pain, she could do little to stymie the feeling as her bodied numbed. It was that or give up willingly, and she wasn't ready to do that. Not yet. Not after she'd run for so long.

What would happen to her now, she only had the faintest of ideas, but she didn't like her prospects.

But her thoughts of that soon passed, too busy trying her best to stifle the pain.

Alone and abandoned by whatever allies she might have had, the infiltrator lay on the ground, muscles spasming. Watching her twitch, Jarek felt a twinge of sympathy. What mattered more than her pain however was that she was still conscious, which meant she could still be potentially a threat. Flipping the blaster in his hand, Jarek examined it for a moment before identifying its stun setting. Flipping it to stun and setting the stun bolts to maximum power, he approached the twitching girl and lifted the gun to aim at her chest.

Pulling the trigger once, twice, Jarek pumped two powerful stun bolts into her, which would knock her out cold. Though likely not without a bit of pain. Shaking his head, he glanced down at her, then at the blaster pistol in his hand. "So crude." He muttered in disdain. There was nothing appealing in the use of a blaster, so with a simple swipe of his saber he cut the weapon in half before letting it drop to the floor. "Cuff her, strip her of weapons, and bring her to the interrogation room." He ordered as he turned to the Sector Ranger. Jarek had many questions, such as who the woman was and why she was there. Hopefully soon she would be conscious enough to answer those questions.

//End thread.
