COMPOSITION AND APPEARANCE:
Heylaa Jume Anwett is a tall girl, looking much younger than her age of 30, possibly because she hasn’t actually done much living yet. She’s 5’10” and slender, though her baggy clothing she wears when not in uniform tends to hide this fact.
Short and straight blonde hair reaches slightly past her chin and is almost always left down, only occasionally being pulled up into a ponytail or covered with a hat. Her most notable feature however are big brown eyes, often covered with glasses of a red that fades to light orange with an attached comm unit.
PERSONALITY:
Personality-wise Heylaa is relatively quiet, patient and calm, though she can’t stand to be alone for long periods of time. She fears loneliness for no clear reason. She’s always searching for approval and acceptance from everyone due to her childhood which didn’t offer her much of either. Heylaa tries to hide this vulnerability behind a smile and it often works. She is also somewhat of a perfectionist.
Heylaa cannot turn away from someone who needs help. She can treat an injury or just offer some comforting words. She always seems to know just what to say.
To superiors, she is obedient and submissive and a well spoken guide to those she is in charge of leading. Heylaa is a math whiz and can impressively concentrate under most conditions, loud or soft, relaxed or full of pressure.
LIKES AND DISLIKES:
Heylaa loves to be around people, whether resting, speaking, playing or working. She dislikes being alone. Doing everything well and right is another thing she craves, part of her perfectionist nature. Whenever something goes wrong, she blames herself. She adores travelling as well, making a point to do so as much as humanly possible.
Heylaa is sincerely devoted to the Republic, serving briefly in its military and living her whole life inside its borders. Heylaa is very intelligent and just one of those people that needs to have something to do or else they’ll just sit around and do math… for fun.
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Some weaknesses Heylaa possesses are her hidden insecurities and that she is not physically as strong or coordinated as most people. She isn’t as accurate a shot or as good a pilot or melee fighter as the others but what she lacks in brawn she makes up with brains.
She is a skilled astrogator and mathematician, as well as a speaker. She is trained in medicine and her loyalty to those she knows is very strong. Her pain tolerance is high and her ability to take in surroundings and new ideas is quick.
HISTORY:
Heylaa Jume Anwett was born on the city-world of Anaxes to a father with a long military background and a loving mother who was a powerful speaker. Heylaa being a girl caused much disappointment. Heylaa’s father wanted a son. A boy could excel in the Republic Army but he felt a daughter just wasn’t capable. Daughters were good as nurses or senators, not soldiers and generals, as he felt.
Because of this, Heylaa always worked to gain her father’s acceptance and approval, even more so when her baby brother was born when she was 7 years old. This just meant she’d have to try harder for his love. There was always competition between the two, though not hatred or anger.
Heylaa was good with words like her mother and did exceptionally well in school. Math proved to be her strongest point as she progressed through the system, which made her parents proud even if they said nothing. The other kids however made fun of her for her brains, calling her a geek or occasionally a smarty pants. Thinking about it, those aren’t very mean, but when your young and the universe seems so much bigger, words seem so much meaner.
As Heylaa strived for more approval, her father decided it would be best to send her off to medical school when she turned 19. She stayed there, studying hard and doing well, despite being bored with the subject for 3 years, because she wanted to make daddy happy. Eventually she decided in order to make her truly family want her, she’d have to join the military and so transferred herself to a military school at age 21.
Military school was... an interesting choice. She was not strong, could hardly aim a blaster, and had the tactical intelligence of a newt. She never was a good soldier. But it was here that she found her true calling: Astrogation. It takes a lot of math and patience as well as a general intelligence to be able to handle astrogation without a navicomputer. With practice, she could soon calculate jumps with a mere data pad on hand and other easier ones were memorized. After 4 years she graduated at the age of 25.
Heylaa had spent the first 25 years of her life doing the will of her parents, searching for their love. The next 3 years have been spent enlisted in the Republic Army, learning and honing new skills as well as making new friends and yet still striving for acceptance.
On her 28th birthday, she left the military. It just wasn't her 'thing' at all. Instead, she went into the travel business. She gave tours all over Republic space, for although not cut out for the military, her devotion to the Republic had not waned. Her astrogation skills helped her explore and she just loved helping families plan a vacation. Seeing good spots in the Republic made people think it was better, so in a way she was still helping her government of choice. And she finally found herself the perfect job, full of just enough adventure.
