Planet: Csilla
Location: Spaceport (Immigration)

The journey was several years in the making, and finally he was at his species home world. He could not help but still feel uneasy as if many eyes were upon him, the journey was difficult but a part of his worried that it could have been to easy. All those years jumping between different identities, those sleepless nights thinking about Kyra... Shaking his head finally he noticed the line move, he waited waiting, more importantly he hated crowds. Taking in a deep breath he tried to calm his nerves, he was not dressed to impress. Wearing only a black jacket, with a grey shirt underneath, pair of grey insulated cargo pants and lastly a pair of black leather work boots. His long hair was messy, that was primarily due to the accommodations the craft provided for the journey. It was several months on that ship, with very little social interaction but they got him to his destination. He still had no idea how they got past Chiss patrols with very little trouble, but then again he found it better not to question too much when dealing with the criminal underworld.

Finally the line began to move again, this time he could see that within a few moments he would be the next person in. That was until after another glance around his surroundings several armed Chiss mad their way towards him, he could tell by how they moved, even how they looked at him that they were coming for him. It would be stupid to make a scene here, a part of him wanted to grab the vibroblade and grab the nearest woman as a hostage, but he knew that pulling a stunt like that in an open area like this would be a swift was to get a bullet between his eyes. Smiling he took in a deep breath. "Can I help you gentleman," he asked the tow armed men. Their faces were impassive but the first one spoke to Verenus.

"We need you to step out of the line and come with us."

They sounded neutral but then again you had to in this kind of work, trying to behave like the ideal complacent citizen he stepped out. "Can I inquire what this is all about?" Verenus had a feeling he knew damn well, but again he had to play up the act. The second man spoke "you can inquire but you wont get any answers," he responded, they marked him to the west side of the room leading him into the security offices. When they took him to a corrider they pressed him against the wall and searched him. They found the concealed blaster pistol and the blade, those criminals must have sold him out. The bitter feeling returned but he did not show it on his face. "Please step inside the office," Verenus was taken aback for a moment, he was expecting them to inquire about the concealed weaponry but suddenly he felt sick to his stomach. Something else was at foot and he did not like it, not wanting to escalate the situation he did as told and entered the office, the two armed guards followed.

A deep sigh escaped her lips, fingers fiddling with the zipper of her leather bodysuit. A cylindrical object dangled from her belt as she strolled down the halls towards the spaceport meant solely for immigration. Her mind was focused and aware on her current task and her current task only. One of her superior's ordered her to retrieve the latest check-in sheet from the dock master. This task was too mundane for someone with her range of skills. She was apart of the Immortal Order, she was meant to be trained by others and protect diplomats and other officials. She may not have welcomed this mission but she would accept and accomplish it proudly. Nia was not the kind to abandon her duty despite her ego.

She had almost arrived when she spotted, with her blazing red eyes, armed Chiss stopping someone along the stretch. This was not uncommon. They normally checked for illegal immigrants, but this one was different. Even though her powers of the force were limited, she could sense a spark within him. She quickly took note of his face. No, he was not apart of Immortal Order. She checked his belt, no lightsaber. This was perplexing to her.

All of sudden, an idea skipped merrily across her mind. The corners of her mouth curled into a smile. If he is force sensitive, than maybe she could recruit him..*With much determination, she followed them to the security room. To her luck, the dock master was nearby so she was able to complete that mission before pursuing the others.*

She opened the door and continued through before the door shut. Nia folded her arms across her chest, her brow stern as she stared the guards down,
"On what grounds are you holding this man?" she asked, her voice holding much authority.

The guards were not expecting a Sith Immortal to show up. They stood at attention and when she asked the question the senior guard spoke. "Ma'am he is flagged as an SIA person of interest, we are to hold him until a representative arrives to debrief him." The other security officer was quiet, not wanting to draw the attention of the Chiss Immortal. Verenus smiled leaning back in his chair, "an SIA person of interest eh?" Looking over to the woman he steepled his fingers together in deep thought. "If I am an SIA person of interest then why send two guards to watch me, they are hardly fitting to prevent my escape." He said looking to the woman, the younger guard looked even more pale, he made eye contact with Verenus and Verenus shot him a dangerous looking grin. It is noted that Verenus has a heavy imperial accent.

"But that is assuming that I am something more then just a simple merchant from Nar Shadaa, which my documents say that I am." He said while reaching into his coat pocket, the younger guard drew his side arm. "Stop!" Verenus froze and took in a deep breath. "Relax it is just paper work, a Chiss returns home from a long journey and this is the welcome he gets?" The younger guard relaxed and he pulled out a small data pad with his information. "No need to be hasty to pull your trigger, you disarmed me remember?"

The senior officer gave the younger officer a glare and he holstered his weapon. The senior officer turned back to the Immortal, "surely you have more important tasks, you should not waste your time in a matter of immigration." At that comment Verenus chuckled. Until finally he looked down, he did not feel comfortable around this guards, the fact the woman stood up for him gave her points. "Milady, if I may for the first time being around my people I do not feel safe, being dragged off by security forces and treated like a criminal has caused me to fear for my safety. Clearly you have some authority if you could take over and watch me it would be a relief." He said with one of his warm smiles, the guards did not like the game Verenus was playing but it was not their place to speak for the immortal.

He hoped it worked, he did not know his odds but he did not want to be put in position in which he had to make an escape. Verenus needed some one who would vouch for him in the short term, possibly even put in a good word incase they would deny him Asylum from the imperium. Everything was uncertain and he has yet to make contact with an official. His eye fell upon the cylinder on her side, he did not focus on it too much, he passed it off as if it was not a big deal. Though to be honest he was unfamiliar with the Ascendancy's immortals, he heard myths and stories but never saw a first hand report.

Nia smiled to herself as the guards hastily popped to attention. One of the guards was quick to defend their motive, she was pleased by that. Flagged as a SIA person of interest, huh? Interesting. She scanned this man closely, from the looks of him he didn't seem to be that imposing of a character but his smooth words held him in much different light. He appeared to be a man who talked his way out of trouble often. No matter. She was pretty certain that if she had a word with him, all secrets would be revealed, including the origins of his Imperial accent. Yes she had noticed that, as well as the younger guards nervousness. Her arrogant ways made her disdain him for his weakness. These guards were not fit to protect a nerf, let alone a a SIA person of interest.

This Chiss' plea blatantly revealed what he desired. He wanted to be rid of these idiots and expected her to do so. It would be simple, of course, all she had to do was assert her rank,
"You are wrong, sirs. This kind of ordeal clearly deserves my time. You said it yourself, this man is SIA person of interest! I can't possibly leave while knowing staying here may endanger your lives! Now," she said, motioning towards the door, "Go wait outside. If something happens I will alert you. Understood?"

The two guards nodded in agreement and left, with sour expressions covering their face. The door shut with whoosh behind them. Nia watched the door until she was sure they were away from it. Her gloved hand reached up to her head, pulling her hair tie out. Her dark curly blue hair cascades down her back. She turned her attention back to the man reclined in the chair, "Sev'niay'nuruodo. You can call me Nia. And you are?"*

He let out a sigh of relief when the guards left, he watched the Immortal silently, she was quite pretty but she was also young. He knew better than to trust someone be their demeanor, plenty of operatives have met their demise by a pretty face. "My name is Del... What is the point, clearly you are not an idiot, I am Verenus Bel'Thalas, I am an Imperial citizen but I have come requesting asylum with Ascendancy, I was hoping due to my families history of service and my pure blood they will make an exception. I have heard tales of our peoples generosity especially those who have assets that can better our society." Verenus could have played up a facade, but he was in a position where he could make a friend, sometimes you needed to make concessions to seek an advantage.

"Nia it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, please excuse my etiquette my be rare today, I am a bit jet lagged from my journey. That and I did not expect to be honored to be in the presence of an Immortal, I have heard tales of their power but you are the first I have ever met." He fell silent, he had many questions but most importantly he was wondering where his family was stationed. "My family has had a tradition in diplomacy, I was hoping to come back in contact with them, if you have the time can you find out their fate? The last I heard of them they got called back to the Ascendancy for reassignment, unfortunately they have not been in contact since they left."

There was something about her that brushed him the wrong way, he could not explain it, he has had this feeling before, primarily when in the presence of a Sith Lord. Feeling a bit dizzy he rested his hand against his forehead. "Please excuse me, I think the lack of sleep has left me light headed." He tried to think but each time he looked back to her the feeling got worse, finally he took in a deep breath. "So, Lady Nia, what sparked your interest in me, a Chiss Immortal would hardly be interested in a simple immigration dispute." Finally he composed himself, he still had a pleasant smile on his face but his eyes were scanning her demeanor and facial expressions, hoping to get some insight.

So he was an Imperial citizen requesting asylum on Csilla? The home world of our kind? She was curious as to why that was and about where she had heard the name Bel'Thalas before. She could not recall but it sounded so familiar. The fact that they were in diplomacy did not bring her any closer to a conclusion. It was something she looked forward to discovering. She exhaled deeply as he asked why she was interested in him. That question would be easier to answer if she knew exactly what to say but she didn't. Was this protocol? Was this allowed? Could she get in trouble for this? She did not know but she was worried beyond compare.

She relaxed her body, trying to relieve some of the tension that permanently lived in her shoulders. Nia softened her expression the best she could and with her most sincere and honest voice she spoke,
"I do not know you, Mr. Bel'Thalas. I can only guess what kind of man you really are but I'm going with my gut here. I'm going to extend an offer to you, an offer I would not foolishly refuse. You spoke of particular assets that make the Ascendancy very generous people and you Mr. Bel'Thalas are one of those people who possess those assets. I can feel it crawling with your mind. That power that makes me an Immortal can make you one as well," she said, moving closer to the table, with soft meaningful eyes, "I know the Ascendancy has not treated you well so far but with this you can find your family and you will have a place within the Chiss. You can save lives, protect others. I can help you or I can leave you to the man that is supposed to come in here and will most likely deny your requests. I hope you accept, sir, because it would be sad to see someone of so much potential walk away."*

She stared at him, awaiting a response that hopefully benefit the both of them. Either way she would help him, unless he was guilty of course but naively she doubted that.

Verenus had to stop himself from laughing, his assets were quite different then what she was implying. He was a trained operative, his mind and body were honed to be a percise weapon. His forte was political and tactical assinations not weilding a light saber and focusing his will to kill his foes. "Milady I think you must be mistaken, I do not have the type of assets you think I do. Surely the Sith would have found my potential when I was living in the Imperium, what makes you so sure I am capable of being an immortal." Verenus was trying to not offend the Lady, but he could not believe her.

But when she got closer to him he could feel a shiver go up his spine, as if there was a heat surounding her body, he took in a deep breath but it was stuck in his throat. "Wha.... What are you doing to me?" Verenus was never this close to a force user, he only dealt with mundanes in his line of work, or would kill Jedi's miles away with a precision orbital strike or sabotage. "This can't be happening, why do I..." His cool composure faded as he felt sick to his stomach, he began to sweat but he was starting to get the feeling that she was not joking with him.

"So.... You are saying that, I am force sensitive?" Her facial expression showed that she was genuine, "I owe you an apology, Milady I accept your offer." For the most part he would not but after evaluating his position he did not have much of a choice. It was better to be under he protection then to be turned over to the Imperium, besides if she was wrong mayhaps he could make a better first impression with someone with more power. Finally he relaxed it took his will but he pushed that feeling her presence caused aside, "please Lady Nia call me Verenus," he said with a warm smile.

Barr'el'nuruodo was the dock supervisor and a CAIN operative. He had been undercover for a couple months, in an attempt to weed out spice smuggling that was going on here. He did his job well, and was vexed when others did not do theirs well. It was why Barr'el'nuruodo was not pleased to find two of the guards returning empty handed after a SIA flag was notified. A quick interrogation revealed they had left him in the hands of an Immortal.

"Just my luck," said Barr'el'nuruodo. Some of those Immortals had a tendency to be self-righteous. This would not be easy. "This day can't possibly get worse."

As if to call his bluff, the doors opened and a woman in white entered. She was known to everyone. It was Arch'elie'lia, Grand Imperator of the Chiss Ascendancy. Barr'el'nuruodo cursed silently. He had been notified the Grand Imperator would be in the area to deliver a speech, but he had not expected her to arrive in the command post.

Barr'el'nuruodo saluted the Grand Imperator. "Welcome to the Arch'ao'nuruodo Space Port."

Arch'elie'lia motioned for the commander to relax. "I sense something has not gone well. My guards tell me a SIA flag was raised. Mind telling me the details?"

Barr'el'nuruodo gulped nervously before explaining the situation to the Grand Imperator.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Barr'el'nuruodo, flanked by the two guards from before and half a dozen others, entered the back area of the immigration area and walked to where the Immortal and the person in question stood. Cameras guided the group to the duo. Stopping near them, the commander spoke. "Sev'niay'nuruodo, this man is to accompany me to the conference room. I have been instructed to share the 'invitation' to you, if you so wish to accept." Turn to face Verenus, he said, "Please come quietly. We are at liberty to use force if necessary. I have also been ordered that you are not in trouble at this time, but you are wanted for questioning."

Nia watched intently as the conflicted man began to see the light. The Imperium, even though allies of the Ascendancy, were often misguided fools when it came to judgement and would have easily missed something so small as this. Nia was not to be fooled nor mistaken, she was Chiss after all. She knew what she had felt. He indeed had that spark and the fact that he accepted it only made it easier. Her smile grew wider, she was pleased she could assist the Ascendancy by recruiting one so similar to herself.*

She opened her mouth to voice her gratitude, when the door whisked open. She had been so caught up in her thoughts that she did not sense their arrival. She snapped around to look these men in the eyes. She stood tall and erect, taking note of the cameras surrounding them and how the one in charge called her by name. They wanted Verenus to proceed with them to the conference room. Nia was invited to tag along which she intended to do,
"Invitiation accepted," she said, proceeding towards the door. She was not about to let Verenus out of her sight.

Verenus kept a warm smile on his face, but the circumstances were not desirable. When the men entered the room he stood up and stretched. "Well then looks like the welcoming committee has arrived. I look forward to the hours of interviews and debriefings." Pulling a stunt was futile, he could easily disarm one of the men, maybe even gun down most of his escort, but that Immortal would be a problem. Right now she was his lifeline, he had a feeling that she would be determined to watch his back, especially if he behaved reasonable and gave her no reason to move against him. "Thank you Lady Nia, it would be good to have a friendly face to nearby." He said to her genuinely while moving with the escort.

"I feel like a celebrity, all of these armed men and women to protect me," he jested while looking towards the man who was in charge. "I am sorry to tie up your resources like this, I did not wish to make such a scene, I appreciate you all handling this civilly," he said graciously until finally they made it to the location. "Anything I should know before the interview begins? Will Lady Nia be in the room with me or will she just be monitoring it? To be honest I would prefer to have her presence nearby, having an Immortal by my side will make me feel safe." Verenus waited patiently for a response, then when the questions were answered he would enter the room, not sure what to expect.

She accepted the invitation, just as the Grand Imperator predicted, thought Barr'el'nuruodo. Verenus Bel'Thalas agreed to come quietlly. As Barr'el'nuruodo led the group to the conference room, whose entryway was flanked by Ascendant Guard, he said, "The Immortal may join you."

Barr'el'nuruodo saluted the guards, which signaled the door to be opened. The commander ushered the group inside. Sitting down at the round table sipping from a cup of Arch blend tea was a female Chiss wearing a white dress. The Immortal most likely would instantly recognize the woman; Verenus likely as well.

"Please sit down," said the woman, placing the cup down. "I am Grand Imperator Arch'elie'lia."

Nia was pleased that she would be allowed to continue along with Verenus. She wanted to be present while this interrogator pestered him with a series of questions. She flashed him a small smile for his thanks then followed closely behind the guard until they reached their destination. Nia immediately saw the two Ascendant guards at the door and gave them both a polite nod, before crossing the threshold into the conference room.

Her red eyes widen as she sees the Grand Imperator sitting at the table. Dressed in white, she sipped her tea with a strange elegant manner. Nia bowed slightly as a sign of respect, she had never greeted someone of her importance before. She took the seat nearest to her, folding her hands on the table,
"It's an honor to meet you, ma'am."

For a moment Verenus was taken off guard, he played through this scenario in his head multiple times but none of these mental simulations revolved around being in the presence of the Grand Imperator. Nodding his head in respect he sat down silently, it took him a moment to form his words but finally he developed his stratagem. "Grand Imperator you humble me with your audience, I as you probably know am Verenus Bel'Thalas. How can I be of your service? I must say the stories do not do your beauty justice." She was beautiful, graceful and had a power to her presence. He had heard stories of her grace and beauty but none of them did her any justice. That was when his smile widened, flattery may or may not work but he was willing to play his hand. Mayhaps if he gained the favor of the Grand Imperator his transition would be smoother. "I would have started with launching a complaint with the lack of Chiss hospitality upon my arrival, but finding my self in the presence of the Grand Imperator and one of the mighty Immortals of the ascendancy has shown otherwise." He said while nodding acknowledgement to Nia.

"Grand Imperator, if you have any questions I will answer them to the best of my ability, though I must inquire how is my family, are they still in Csilla?" Falling silent again his mind began to race, his people were subtle and had a mastery of subterfuge. The last thing he wanted was to be given a red mark of the Imperium, if he divulged confidential information this could lead to a rather quick demise. Ascendancy influence was wide, but an ambitious operative with a knife and a will to use it was just as dangerous. "As I told Lady Nia, I have come seeking Asylum with the Ascendancy, I wish to be given the great honor of citizenship and to serve my people to the best of my ability. There is some complications, as you already know I am an Imperial citizen and I do fear the way I left was least then honest." Lying to her was useless Diplomats like spies had a business in lies and grandstanding. If you become good at such things you also get quite adept and piercing through them. Her general presence sent a chill through his core, but he could not place the source or the reason for such a feeling.

Verenus Bel'Thalas was just as his family described him as. It was almost amusing. A smooth-talker, flattering her nearly immediately. He went straight to business. She decided to let him finish before speaking. Her eyes darted at Barr'el'nuruodo in amusement when the man mentioned the lack of hospitality.

"You went missing, Verenus Bel'Thalas," explained Arch'elie'lia. "SIA investigated the matter and was unable to find you. As such, you were flagged so that the matter could be answered. Standard procedures. However," her attention turned to the commander, "I am disappointed by how easily your men backed down. The Immortal Order, I'm afraid, does not have the authority to supercede SIA protocols. However," her eyes glanced at Nia before returning to look at Verenus, "it all came out well this time, so I'll overlook it this time.

"As for your family, they are safe. I actually just finished some work with them recently, which was why I decided to meet with you. They spoke highly of you and miss you dearly. Once we're done, I'll have Commander Barr'el'nuruodo establish a communication with your family. In the mean time, we have business to discuss."

Heliel took a sip of tea. "I am intrigued by why you vanished in the first place. Your request for asylum makes hypotheses grow grim." She could sense he was hiding something. The Grand Imperator was strong in the Force, and he was like an open book to her. After all, she did hold the title of Witch of Endor. "I wish to know why you left." Placing the cup down, she added, "Be vague if you need to. I already know you've worked with intelligence, so I won't ask for too many details." Heliel was no longer the Director of CAIN, the Ascendancy's intelligence network, but she was still informed of a great many things.

The Immortal sat tall in her chair, watching the conversation unfold. Her gloved thumb strokes the back of her own hand unconcerned with the exchange. She had heard Verenus' smooth voice earlier, his instrument of persuasion. He had inquired about his family again. She thought it was sweet yet she had never felt that concern for her own blood. Her family was full of strict military officers, hell bent on success. She continued that tradition, not particularly caring for kin. Some people would consider that cold behavior but to her, that was the way she was raised. Always keep your distance and fight till your last dying breath for the Ascendancy. These are values she swore to herself to uphold.*

Her ears perked to attention when the Grand Imperator spoke of her. Of course, the Imperator was right. She had no jurisdiction in SIA business. She could have gotten in a lot of trouble for interfering. Her eyes widened, realizing her actions. Even though the Imperator swore she would not be trouble, it still came as a hard blow for the Immortal. She was supposed to be elite, better. Had her intelligence failed her? Had her common sense faltered? Nia was appalled, absolutely disgusted with herself. She had to be wiser in the future, despite her ambitious tendencies.*

Her inner rant was silenced by the Imperator's inquiry. Nia too, had wondered the same thing. She turned her attention to Verenus, awaiting his explanation.

Like that, his charm, aura of confidence, even his friendly demeanor faded. He looked down, about to speak but the events played before his minds eye. Thoughtfully he caressed his right ring finger, she was dead. He saw the footage, he even arranged for the footage to be deleted. The crusader sent to protect and over see the operation, her body cast aside like an unwanted toy. Verenus hoped she died slowly, but people rarely died instantly from a snapped neck. He hated himself from burying the footage but he needed to cover his bases, vengeance was a complicated beast, but even after he played his hand he still felt empty. Verenus remembered her smell, like Alderaan Dusk Lillies, the night they danced while working a deep cover, even her running overwatch on one of his operations. Her smooth voice, those soft lips.

Finally he could feel the looks people were giving him, shivering he let go of the ring. "I lost someone very dear to me, I am afraid the rest is none of your concern." Looking back up his face was now blank. "I understand the type of mess this type of thing creates, I also understand that the Ascendancy are allies of the Imperium." The room was silent but finally he looked to Nia and then to Heliel. "I can assure you I do no consider the Imperium an enemy, nor am I going to play the game of whistle blower, trust me if I wanted to I could have made a fortune off Nar Shadaa and vanished to some fringe moon away from anything." Finally he took in a deep breath, this day was long and he longed for a nice hot shower. "But instead I came here, I think I would be better in the company of my people, I know my family was ambitious, making me a citizen of the Imperium and all but I don't fit in." With that he returned to his charming smile.

His head perked up when his family was brought up again, the smile becoming more genuine. "Please, that would be most generous. I have a lot of catching up to do, I was always fond of my siblings. It has been a while since I have had correspondence with my father. Did they adjust well to Csilla life?" Verenus cared deeply about their well being, they were all they had left. To be honest he also truly missed his siblings.

"I don't mean any disrespect, I am just not ready to deal with certain topics, I am still coping with my own shadows. I know Nia may have acted out of place, but I did appreciate her intervention, I was vulnerable and it was good to see a friendly face. She saw that I was sensitive the force and was looking out for a possible resource," he said while giving Nia a genuine smile. "So, what happens now. Will I be a prisoner? Executed for leaving? Or will I be granted citizenship or asylum. Please forgive me I am not too accustomed to Ascendancy processes. Though I wish to fully learn them if I am granted the honor of staying."

Heliel noticed that the man's facade was gone. His charm extinguished. She had trended into a topic that torn down his defenses. His emotions shouted from his face. Even his gestures spoke words too, with the caress of the ring. His emotions were wild too, disrespectfully stating that the topic was none of her business. That was far from the truth. The incident was interfactional, and had implications if Verenus Bel'Thalas was revealed to be in the Chiss Ascendancy.

However, Heliel was understanding. She had lost a loved one too. Granted, it was more of an emotional loss, with her brother vanishing, rather than death knocking, but she was sympathetic nonetheless. She decided to let his disrespect slide. He did eventually apologize, though if her uncle had still been Grand Imperator, he would have been in deep trouble.

His interest shifted from his loved one that was no longer with them to his loved ones still among the living. "To my knowledge, they're doing well for themselves," she explained. "They still live on Csilla, unless they've moved in the last year. You may contact them later, if you wish."

The political arena was entered once again. This time, Verenus did not try to skip around it. Heliel sighed, "The investigation is technically still open, so no charges have been brought around you. However, I doubt the Imperium cares for its intelligence assets to abandon them. However, no demand for your return has been issued to me, so it should not be a problem, especially if you honor your word to keep their secrets to themselves. I have no wish to cause intergalactic tension between our two unions by trying to obtain information," she grinned that spoke words, "that I most likely already have. You'll need to go over some reviews and you'll be kept an eye on for a while." Heliel glanced at Nia. "Sev'niay'nuruodo, would you mind accompanying him during the initial process for the next couple days, as paperwork and formalities are completed?" Heliel straightened her posture, seriousness enveloping her. "Keep a low profile, Verenus Bel'Thalas. If the Imperium finds out you're here and decides to charge you, there is only so much the Ascendancy can do. I'm afraid we won't risk war with the Imperium over such a matter. However, I think that we may be able to work something out. However, to find out, I need a bit of information first. Verenus: What do you want to do?"
