I got to liking Star Wars when KOTOR 1 first came out. I went to sleepover at a friends house and we rented it for some odd reason. If i remeber correctly it was for her lil' bro.
My dad indoctrinated me in the ways of Star Wars and Star Trek from a very young age. I swear he had me watching both before I can even remember. So yeah, the seeds of geekiness were sown very early for me.
I had seen Ep. IV - VI from a young age, saw Ep.I with my best friend when I was 4. Ep.II a little later, it wasn't until I got KOTOR off my dad that I really started liking Star Wars so much. My dad was the only Star Wars scifi freak in the house until I got KOTOR, my mum is a Star Trek one.
My dad had me watching the original trilogy when I was younger. Then Epi I came out and I watched it. Got addicted for a while then I didn't care anymore. Epi II came out and I was addicted for about a month then I didn't care. Then Epi III came out. Now I am truly addicted to Star Wars for the rest of my life cause this craze ain't leaving, folks.
The movies and the books got me into it, the EU is what really got me fascinated in SW, and then I watched the original movies again and again, and watched the prequel and such
I said friend. It all started when my good buddy Hoorex Kwando had KOTOR, and I got hooked on the game from that point on, the day I played it at his house. So, after buying and beating the game a few times, I logged on to the LucasArts site. From there, I started rping, and the rest is history.
Well, Star Wars has always been in my family. My cousin is a SW freak. My mum would watch ANH woth him 2 or 3 times a day when he was younger (He is now 30). So basically it was passed onto me, mum said one day "Come and watch this, its Kevin's favourite film EVER!" So I watched it. I enjoyed it, there was that sence of magic that I still feel today. However, I was so young, I didnt realise just HOW good it was. It was when I saw ROTJ for the first time I was hooked. People moan about Ewoks, but when you are younger thats the part of the film you are waiting for. Thats why I have never held a grudge against Jar Jar, I may not personally think he was a brilliant character, nor do I think it was wise to add him to TPM, but he is a charcter that the kids like... its when we look back on it, the "older generation" of Star Wars fans that we dont like what Lucas has done. We watched Star Wars as kids and expect it to grow up with us...
Anyway, enough of my random chitchat. It was the origional trillogy that got me into it, as well as my family. To be honest from then on, Star Wars was something I would watch maybe once or twice a year, that was until KOTOR came out. I kid you not, that game blew me away. I wouldnt swap that experience for the World. "And in the end, as the darkness takes me... I am nothing." - Darth Malak
"Savior, conqueror, hero, villian. You are all of these things, Revan... and yet you are nothing. In the end, you belong to neither the light nor the darkness. You will forever stand alone." - Darth Malak
When I was 5 or 6, my friend sat me down and made me watch ESB. I hated it, 'cause I didn't know what was going on. But I went to see them when they were re-released in theaters and I loved them all. The prequel trilogy and KOTOR got me completely hooked. And here I am. ;D
