I would like to start a weapon manufacturing company to be owned by one of my characters. Who do I start it and must it get approved?

You can either do a made-up corporation for your designs in the technology subforum, or you can do an Independent corporation. If you go with option A, I don't believe it's permissible for it to grant you extraordinary wealth or access to banned equipment. If you go with option B, you'll need 2 other people to join, and meet other Indie group requirements.

Well it looks like I need to find some people to join my company. If only there was a website filled with people who role play Sith or Imperial troopers. Hmmm....

Well, first, you have to get a loan from the bank, and then find a building to rent or buy for your place of business...

Oh, you mean in a role-play. Yeah, what those guys above said. :P

Or just wait for a rich family member to die, get their inheritance, and start the company. Or at least that's how I did it.

It's okay to have a "company" that doesn't use the indie faction set up as long as it remains a local-level business. However, if that "company/corporation" grows to the size in which it begins affect significant regions around it, it will need an indie faction app in order to continue. If there is any doubt, feel free to PM the details to me.
