No way a ship the size of the Falcon'd be able to stand that. They'd need to be like the size of a corvette, at least.

Alright, then they'd be able to carry their own shielding too. The point of it being so small was so it had a chance to live past the first post- a corvette is an easy target, so it should have some defenses, not to mention they're large enough to get some extra machinery in there.

Seven ships going by .5 per ship gives 3.5, plus the vessel's original shielding of 1.

I would agree that corvette sized ships would be the smallest you can go for shield augmenting.

Cut it to one shuttle. Waste of space.

There isn't any way the Hutts would be ahead on any tech. While the shielding will make the dread a no-go target, the captains will know how to deal with it.
