It appears I wasn't around for some pretty awesome stuff, such as a civil war it sounds like. Just wondering if there was a place I could get info on IC Mando history not in the Archives, or somebody could just give me the rundown here. It'd be much appreciated.

Yeah, I've been meaning to make a timeline, but I never get around to it. This is all recent history from this timeline (the fifth):

Roxton Dagger was Mandalore at the beginning of the timeline, but few knew his real identity. Roxton Dagger was his alter ego, a "Prime" of the Mandalore. Primes were more or less glorified body guards.

Anyway, the structure of the clans was pretty rigid. As I already mentioned, Prime was one of the top tier ranks. Elite was just below Prime. None of the ranks were uniquely Mandalorian. The Mandalore was treated like royalty and only the top echelon had a voice. The common warrior was considered expendable.

My character, Corden, started a reform movement. It was known as Te Atiniiryc Kisol, or The Enduring Few. They were indeed few and they endured much. The leadership despised them, especially Corden.

Corden had plans to challenge Roxton, but not before garnering more support for the cause. Before he could, another Mandalorian, Saren, challenged Roxton on the steps leading up to his palatial headquarters. Roxton refused the challenge, citing Saren as unworthy. Though unintended, this caused a stir among the population and more people joined Te Atiniiryc Kisol. Eventually, Corden went to Roxton himself and made his own challenge. Again, Roxton refused, claiming that Corden was nothing but a lowly sergeant and had no right to challenge the Mandalore. Corden left, but he promised Roxton and the others present that it would not be the end.

At the request of the Imperium, the Chiss blockaded the border between the Alliance and the Mandalorians, effectively surrounding the Mandalore Sector. During this period, there was a skirmish on Berchest between Chiss mercenaries and Mandalorian forces defending an outpost there. It was a Mandalorian victory.

Then the Sith broadcasted a message, an ultimatum, to the Mandalorians. They were claiming the Mandalore Sector as their own. Either we joined them or they would force us out. Rather than fight, Roxton ordered a full retreat. It was a massive undertaking, evacuating the entire Mandalore Sector in under a month. Roxton disappeared during this transition, as did his top generals.

Leadership came from the most unlikely of places. Te Atiniiryc Kisol. Unable to challenge Roxton, Corden obeyed the Mandalore and organized the evacuation. He took it upon himself to issue field promotions to a number of junior leaders, giving them the authority they needed to get the job done. Corden assigned each leader a region or planet that they were responsible for evacuating. However, the Mandalorian navy, under the command of Roxton's right-hand man, was no where to be found. Had it not been for Coro Kevara, there wouldn't have been nearly enough ships to transport everyone. Coro, a lowly research and development chief, used what influence he had within MandalMotors, and prototypes of his own design, to field a sizable fleet.

One of Roxton's top naval commanders chose to take her small fleet and a number of refugees to establish a base on a planet called Fenris, out in the Unknown Regions. Back then, the Chiss were just as much an enemy as the Sith, so Corden strongly urged her to find another location. She refused to cooperate.

With help from the Kushari, a feline species Corden had encountered prior to the evacuation, the Mandalorians were able to fully evacuate the Mandalore Sector before the deadline. Corden knew the perfect place for his people to settle and in fact, he had already been working to locate a planet that most of the galaxy had forgotten long before the Sith had issued their ultimatum; Roon, a habitable planetary system deep within the protective confines of the Cloak of the Sith (a cluster of nebulae located in the Outer Rim). The Kushari sent one of their best pilots to locate a safe route into the Cloak of the Sith based on data that Corden and his comrades were able to collect on ancient hyperspace lanes that led in and out. Because of that, the vast majority of the Mandalorian population found refuge on Roon (the minority settling on Fenris). Corden founded the first city when he arrived, Aloriya.

When Roxton returned, Te Atiniiryc Kisol received no credit for their role in the evacuation. Roxton himself claimed Fenris was their new capital and base of operations. He said he had gone to the GA to negotiate for territory and he demanded that the Mandalorians on Roon abandon their new home. Many refused and there was a stalemate.

Corden left for Fenris as soon as he could and there he challenged Roxton for leadership. However, Roxton insisted they fight then and there, in Roxton's office, not where the public could see. Reluctantly, Corden agreed and they fought it out with no one but Roxton's personal security droid to mediate. Within minutes, Corden was able to best Roxton. As Corden was preparing to deliver a powerful blow that would have taken his opponent out of the fight for good, Roxton called off the duel and said that Corden had won fair and square. He also said that it proved nothing and that Corden was not worthy of becoming Mandalore. Corden was furious, but rather than lash out, he told Roxton that he had until the next day to choose a suitable successor, otherwise Corden and Te Atiniiryc Kisol would remove him by force.

Roxton chose Onoveus Onderyn to succeed him as Mandalore. Roxton himself left the Mandalorian Clans and sought refuge with the Jedi. Unfortunately, the Mandalorians were fragmented and Onoveus did very little to improve the situation. He kept many of Roxton's old policies in effect. He negotiated with the GA for some of the territory surrounding Roon and the Mandalorians were able to settle outside of the Roon system for the first time. Corden was given governorship of Roon and command of the fleet there. Unfortunately, nothing truly changed. Danielle Marren, a Mandalorian who had promised to support Corden's claim to leadership, challenged Onoveus herself. She won the duel and became the next Mandalore, accepting Roon as the new Mandalorian homeworld.

Danielle was an improvement over the last two, but she allowed Roxton's top generals and advisers to remain in power. Corruption within the upper echelon was rampant and wide-spread and many believed that Danielle Marren was too soft for allowing it. Corden approached Danielle and offered her the chance to join him in driving out the corruption and weakness. She was torn, but in the end, her generals and advisers won her over to their side and she declined.

Feeling as though there was no other alternative, Corden asked his clan and his most loyal supporters in Te Atiniiryc Kisol to leave Mandalorian territory behind. In a final meeting before his departure, Corden, Apollo Ordo, and several other influential leaders, decided that leaving would solve nothing; they would have to fight for what they believed in and purge the Mandalorians of corruption and weakness by force if necessary. At that moment, the Separatist Movement was born and Corden was chosen to lead it. The sudden departure of nearly a million warriors (and a sizable chunk of the Mandalorian navy) was cause for surprise and confusion at first, then anger. Those that chose to stay behind and support Danielle Marren were called the Loyalists... little did they expect, their own Mandalore would abandon them. Danielle Marren disappeared, unwilling to participate in the civil war and distraught over her part in creating it.

The Separatists sought refuge within the Chiss Ascendancy, whose leader Corden had befriended. Using Chiss territory as a staging ground, Corden led a campaign against the Loyalists, striking first at the ice world of Fenris. At Fenris, the Loyalist commander, Jenna Wolf, initiated the base self-destruct when she saw Corden and his supercommandos had infiltrated her mountaintop command center. It was clear that he was there for her and rather than stand her ground and fight him, she killed herself and thousands of her warriors in the resulting explosion. Luckily, Corden's communications operator picked up radio chatter indicating the self-destruct had been initiated and they were able to make a narrow escape. However, just over thirty of Corden's supercommandos didn't make it out in time, as they had infiltrated the fortress through a hangar and had met heavy resistance.

Meanwhile, down in the valley, the main Separatist assault force was busy breaking through the Loyalist defenses, which were now crumbling because the self-destruct had killed the reinforcements that could have helped them turn the tide of the battle.

After Fenris, many Loyalists defected to the Separatist Movement. After that, there was Zaddja, Gannaria, and Codia. All three systems were host to naval engagements and surface engagements between the Separatists and Loyalists. After a string of victories, more warriors defected to the Separatists, leaving the Loyalist war machine crippled.

The next target was Roon itself, the heart of the remaining Loyalist resistance. Just before the assault commenced, Corden called for a ceasefire and ordered his forces to stand down. Aboard his flagship, Corden invited leaders from both sides to meet and settle the dispute once and for all. His hope was that the remaining Loyalists could be convinced that fighting the Separatists wasn't worth their complete destruction. The last remaining Loyalist general, Lucius Veshok, challenged Corden for leadership of both the Loyalists and the Separatists. Corden accepted, but not before a skirmish broke out among those gathered. Corden was able to restore order by activating containment fields and separating the crowd into smaller groups. He and Lucius proceeded to fight it out in a honorable fashion. Corden overwhelmed Lucius, but spared his life. Corden was then declared Mand'alor te Vencuyan (Mandalore the Preserver) and thus ended the civil war.

Through the Chiss Ascendancy, the Mandalorians were able to form an alliance with the Imperium and get the Mandalore Sector back. However, relations with the GA soon deteriorated, making travel back to the Mandalore Sector problematic. During that time, Corden was betrayed by one of his closest friends and taken prisoner by a rogue element of Clan Varad. Varad managed to make away with a small fleet, which they used to bait a remote GA outpost into pursuing them to the Teth system. They were defeated and as an act of redemption, the man who betrayed Corden managed to carry him to an escape pod. Corden crash landed on Teth and was discovered by a group of spacers who frequented a local smuggler haven. He was nursed back to health, but a bounty hunter that was passing through recognized him as the leader of the Mandalorians. He was taken, frozen in carbonite, and sold to a Hutt crime lord as a trophy of sorts.

Mandalorians don't waste time mourning. Carien Bralor stepped up and became Mandalore, leading her people back to the Mandalore Sector in Corden's absence and reforming the Mando Cabure (Mandalorian Protectors). When the Hutt crime lord found out that a new Mandalore was in power, he felt that his prized trophy had lost its value. Corden was removed from hibernation and sent to the Hutt's arena to die. Only, he didn't die. He fought every beast and warrior sent at him and though the Hutt was angered at first, he began to see there was profit in it. Corden fought in the arena for over a month before Briza Kale, a Mandalorian who Corden had spent some time training in the past, heard rumors of a gladiator nicknamed "Mandalore the Lost." Thinking it might lead her to Corden, she investigated. Discovering Corden was alive, she posed as a gladiator sent in to face Corden and then helped him kill the Hutt and escape.

Carien stepped down, allowing Corden to retake the mantle. In turn, Corden asked Carien to serve as his Sol'yc Al'akaan, or First War Leader (Mandalore's second-in-command; akin to the Secretary of Defense in real world terms).

I think you know the rest.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention something else. Danielle Marren turned up right after the civil war. The other clan leaders, and her own clan, were debating how she should be handled. Corden caught wind of it and burst into the chamber. He went straight up to Marren and shot her in the head... so she was executed for abandoning her people.

Vencu said:
"K'uur!"

Corden's voice boomed as the heavy veshok doors slammed open at his entrance. He stormed into the chamber at a brisk pace, heavy boots producing a resounding thud with each determined step. Those that did not give way at his approach, he plowed through. He lost no momentum. He gave no ground. Held low at his side, he maintained a firm grip on one of his custom blasters, only partially concealed by his battered, blood red cloak. His free hand was clenched into an armored fist, his fierce green eyes locked straight ahead, concealed beneath helmet and visor. He saw no one in the chamber save for Marren-- His predeccesor; the one Loyalist he had always regretted calling an enemy-- Now she stood disgraced. Dishonored. She had fled as the blood of her people, Loyalist and Separatist alike, stained the ice fields of Fenris a deep crimson. She had succumbed to the very same infection that had plagued so many of her generals. There was no excuse she could give; no explanation he would believe. She had been the leader of billions and she had betrayed them all. Perhaps the dead would never know this small justice, but the living would forever remember it...

Time seemed to slow as he drew nearer to the armored woman. Adrenaline coursed through his veins, granting him unparalleled focus. He was less than a meter from Marren when he raised the blaster in one smooth, delibrate motion. At such close range, accuracy was little more than an afterthought, but he took particular care as he aimed down the sights of the weapon, taking in a deep breath of recycled air, and then gently squeezing the trigger. The weapon flashed violently and the resulting blast echoed loudly throughout the chamber, surprising even him.

Ahh, yes. I think that was the beginning of the end of every Mando meeting ending with an all out brawl

I doubt you'll have any trouble there. Zara seems to be adapting very well.

Hmm, now I'm trying to think of some way she could accidentally piss off the Mand'alor. Meh, it'd probably be saying something really stupid because she's tripping over her words.

Holy cow, I did miss some awesome stuff!

Me as well. While I was present for much of the initial internal struggles, my deployment last year forced me to miss the opening of actual hostilities and the civil war itself. It's good to get the whole store together in one place to fill in the gaps :)

I'll make an official one eventually... something a little more organized. I wish I had thought to keep track of the IC year for each event. That would've been helpful.

For now, I suppose I can just direct people to this thread. I've been explaining everything via PM for most of the new members who ask.

It's quite alright, sir. Still an active member of the faction. I know we lost quite a few members OOCly because of the split but I rather enjoyed the story telling.

That's a shame. Honestly, I think I would enjoy being on the losing side of something, even if it meant my character dies. Hopeless causes are fun to write about.

Which is a shame really. A lot of people got feelings hurt, but it really was a great opportunity for growth in many ways. It seemed to get personal in ways it didn't need to. I'm glad you're still around, and the Marren legacy lives on!

The thing is, it wasn't a hopeless cuase. This right now could easily have been a conversation about how Roxton and his faithful lieutenants, Parjir and Jenna, made a heroic stand against the insurrectionists and defeated them single combat, then rebuilt the Mando'ade to their former glory. While there was definitely a lot of OOC disagreement, the outcome was decided entirely IC through some rather spectacular story telling. Nothing was ever a foregone conclusion, and I think as a whole we've benefited from it. The difference in atmosphere from the time I joined this faction to now is pretty incredible.

The Marrens will ALWAYS live on. :3 Even if they're not direct descendants of Burc'ya like my Marrens are, I'll still whip up a distant cousin if needed.

And exactly. We could still have Super Prime Dani Marren walking around!

The irony is that I've heard the same things that were said of the Primes said about the Protectors. Its as if the Mandalorians are never happy

The Protectors are the guardians of the Mandalore Sector and any other territories claimed by the Mando'ade, not an individual. I have a hard time understanding how anyone could possibly see a similarity between the two.
