Every five Cantonic years, the Office of Mayor stands for election, in what is at once the most elabroate display of brown-nosing in the galaxy, yet also one of the most dangerous undertakings in the sector. Businesses, legitimate and otherwise, jostle to back to the most successful candidate, toying with the weaker ones for their own nefarious aims, whilst law enforcement - such as the infamous Canto Bight Police Department - famed for their loose morals, seek to position themselves near the winning party, and thus to continue their grubby trade as usual.

Ultimatly, it is down to a collection of Citizen Voters to decide on who secures the race, but that is only half the challange - with Voting rights granted only to those who hold property in the City, meaning that the voter pool is mae up of the rotten elite of the City, Corporate Players and Criminal movers dictating who wins. The Race to become Mayor is set to start up soon, with multiple candidates vying for the top job; needing to play off dozens of power brokers, and their opposition, in the coming six month period.

Hello there, all and one, one and all,

As a few people (@AutoFox @Livgardist @Vulcan) already know, I spent much of early January with my nose buried into the Canto Bight book, which provided a lot of backstory into what happens in the City. The best way to describe it is - Vegas, Singapore and Monte Carlo on LSD. The worst elements of human society gather, 'indentured servitude' is commonplace, and to get ahead, you need to walk over people, control/use and abuse them to do it.

The book mentions that the City has a Mayor, who depending on the connections and quality of the Candidate, varies in effectiveness. So I got to thinking - is it worth a group of SWRP'ers running the race for Mayor themselves?

I would like for a team of three or four dedicated 'shady folks' to join up with Darren Reed and help him scheme and plot to win the Mayoralty. I'll write up four other candidates and at the end of each mini-plot, one of the other Candidates will be knocked out, until it is a two horse Fathier race between Darren and the last candidate.

We would need to - Get Funding (which would naturally come from dodgy sources), Do the usual political stuff, like attending high class parties, kissing rancors and more, but would add a more adventurous twist, doing favours for crime lords, gathering dirt on rivals, covering up plots - think House of Cards but with 100% more laser guns.

So my question really is - whose interested?

He failed to open a business on Canto, taking the investment money and purchasing a boat instead.

A successful gambler, be would be well known in those circles and does live on Canto (as well as Correllia) with historic working ties to minor hutts, most of whom wouldn't remember him.

He is a slicer who currently works closely with several cartel members. At present he is level one, and I anticipate be would need to be level three to become mayor, so this plot would take a while - having him go from a two bit nobody, to a valid contender with modest backing (at level two) to finally mayor at level three.

I can think of a few things.

- Planting goods on a rival.
- Bringing in money.
- Bringing in equipment for blackmail etc.

Hello again one and all, all and one.

After some thought as to what exactly Darren is going to focus on, I have decided to re-open this, with a plot hopefully being put together for approval today. My intitial thoughts are -

• Keep this as corrupt as possible, because crime is fun.
• Work in the Republic somehow, working with Senator.
• Potentially open up some sort of OPEN thread (PvP) as part of it.

So as such, Darren will be running for Mayor of Canto Bight, in a plot that will have three stages -

Funding and Support - Darren will approach Senators (@Deviant) and Hutts (@Malon) to strike up a deal with them. A job for each 'funding party' will need to be done to earn the funding naturally.

Campaign Trail - Hacking into the Voting Register (with the support of Slicers such as @Faster Than Light hopefully!) to remove people from it, and add purchased votes. Framing the nearest rival, (something @BlackJack and @Darasuum hopefully can help with) and then ensuring it gets published in the news.

Voting Day - Bussing in additional voters, with the support of the Free Trade Guild (@The Captain), and then a good old fashioned staged riot outside the opposition canidates HQ.

So that is about six to eight threads in all, which should end with Darren as Mayor of Canto Bight! Let me know what you think/if you're interested in helping out.
