So I've wanted to do this for awhile now, but who would like to join me in making a company strictly dealing with the Slave Trade? My idea is based on the Karazak Slave Cooperative which can be found on Wookiepedia of course. Essentially we will be a group that performs raids on villages as a whole and profiting by selling them as a large workforce. Missions can also include personal selling of slaves to other members or factions, as well as kidnapping individuals via contracts. I have much of the write up done already but will need a strong backbone to stand behind this idea. I've never run a faction before so I'd like my Assistant Faction Leader to have some experience in this. I've made a promise to myself to be fairly active with this group so as to not let it fizzle out after a few weeks. On my part, this includes monthly newsletters and several mission packs to be available. That's on me, so hold me to it please lol!

Well you've got experience setting up a faction. I could use that. Especially if you could get us other members too...

Also, I'll be posting what I have written up possibly tomorrow. The code is on my computer.

Norb could be a real help, but he can't be an AFL for two different factions I don't think.

Kazarak

Slaving

Collective

Based in the Karazak system, in the Sujimis sector of the Outer Rim Territories, the Kazarak Slaving Collective (KSC) is a group comprised of pirates, thugs, crime bosses, and slavers in general all focusing on the buying and selling of sentient races in the form of slavery. The Collective specializes in all areas of slavery: hunting, collecting, housing, and then finally selling. When out performing raids, the Collective was known to capture bulk numbers of sentients at one time. They would go out and seize a whole village, and then enslave them at once, thus having a potential workforce that could be sold as a whole. Although they were especially violent during the captures, they were not known for using sadistic torture on their prisoners. Due to this bulk-process, not all of their slaves were trained into submission and were sometimes documented as attacking their employers (Collective lawyers have on many occasions noted these details are listed in the fine print). While the Kazarak Slaving Collective participates in slavery of many basic races, their most popular export are Twi'leks and certain members of the Collective have also been known to deal with the Spice Trade as well as high end wildlife to further raise profits. That being said, the Collective would also perform other kinds of operations including the kidnapping and enslaving of specific individuals for blackmail purposes. The Collective competes with other, older important slaver cooperatives such as the Zygerrian Slavers Guild and the Thalassian slavers. Without little to no law enforcement in the Outer Rim, there was practically nothing anyone could do to stop their pirating endeavors. Also, with sentient slavery being such a popular commodity, there was little sign of resistance or retaliation against them.

The Chain Of Command

prison_corridor_2_by_astrokevin.jpg
The Karazak Slaving Collective mostly employed trained, devoted slavers from different areas of the galaxy. To them, slavery was a way of life, with some of the Karazak slavers being children and grandchildren of other Karazak slavers. The Collective was known for the interest it invested in its employees so that slavers, even low-level ones, were told they would never stay jailed for more than thirty hours. The Collective was known to paying off lawyers, or when that failed, even going so far as to arranging a jail break. Should the slaver die before their release could be arranged, the Collective would support the slaver's family as compensation.

Success in the Collective was rewarded with promotions and credits; however, repeated failure could be punished with slavery itself. Those policies gave the slavers an incentive to strive for perfection. The Karazak slavers thus became skillful professionals, obtaining notoriety outside the Collective. The Karazak Slaving Collective divided the responsibilities and authorities of any slaving operation among different specialized experts. This reduced the impact on the operation should any of the slavers be captured. It also allowed careful planning, with most of the contingencies covered, and reduced the risks for the slaving team while increasing the economic profitability of each hit. Lastly, the Collective also used research teams that analyzed each of the areas, to improve their methodology. This careful planning was part of the Collective's reputation.

Before an operation was even considered, the Karazak Slaving Collective sent an undercover acquisitions specialist, to consider the availability and quality of the potential slaves in an area, the threat that local law enforcement or military powers could pose, and the location of the community. When a potential customer requested the Collective kidnap a specific individual or small group, they would use an acquisitions specialist to define the potential value and risk of the operation. The project developer perused the acquisitions specialist's report, and then transformed it into a viable slave raid. The developer, who had overall responsibility for the operation, coordinated the plans with strike team leaders, and later determined the exact moment when the strike would begin. There were precedents of operations in which the executive leadership of the Collective disagreed with the project developer about those two matters; at this stage of the operation, the developer would have the final say, overriding the leadership's objections.

A raid was performed by one or more strike teams. The strike team leader chose the team members and assigned the responsibilities of each one. Any time a captive was damaged, the leader lost a portion of their profits. The logistics coordinator provided equipment for the strike teams—no matter the planetary environment of the raid—commonly in a very short time frame. The coordinator also had to take care of the captured slaves up to their sale, including feeding them, and was the responsible for maintaining and the removing temporary bases. Finally, the distribution manager was the seller, finding potential buyers and moving the merchandise before the authorities could track it, and before the operation stopped being cost-effective. Sometimes, one distribution manager closed a single deal for the lives of thousands of sentients.

The Slave Trade is a major commodity in the Star Wars Universe. My purpose for this faction is to create a group that will deal the majority of its time in the slaving industry with the choice to branch out for products such as spice or wildlife if a member so chooses. The idea behind the group comes from the Kazarak Slave Cooperative which later exists in Star Wars Canon around 200 BBY. The group as a whole welcomes characters of all trades and species. As the moderator, I will offer missions for members to participate in while also being available to join in if needed. The group IC will not seek to spread out its territory in terms of war, but the option will be available to expand in diplomatic terms via contracts and the like from other factions. For the most part, the group will operate around the outer rim as well as Wild Space engaging in PVP with member permission OOC. As a moderator of the group, I will not be participating in any PVP but will be available to create enemies and environments for PVE threads.

DISCLAIMER
Due to the nature of the trade, it is strictly warned that this group and its members will be roleplaying both in and out of character to the standards of the site and keeping a PG-13 rating

OK peeps, here's what I've written up so far. I would still need the roster and job descriptions. And for me I'd need the missions written up but I've got some ideas in mind already such as simple slaving raids, a stealthy kidnapping of a holonet actress, as well a prison bust for a fellow member (npc).

Question!! Would you guys think people would be more inclined to join if we were a syndicate rather than a slave group? It would be a little more difficult for me, but I'd do it if people are more willing.

This is taken directly from one of @Outlander 's profile lores. But it gives us an option if we wanted to go that route instead.

Also, I'm updating the page title^

A VAST, ORGANIZED CRIMINAL NETWORK

The Shadow Syndicate are among the most infamous criminal families of Hutt Space, operating primarily on Nar Shaddaa, Nal Hutta and Nar Kreeta. Ruthless and conniving, the Shadow Syndicate began as a humanocentric movement against the more Hutt-dominated cartels common to Hutt Space.

Organized from several groups, including the official business of the successful Club Vertica Casino, located on Nar Shaddaa, the slaving organization, known as the Nar Kreeta Labor Alliance, and the contract killers of the Annihilator Network, the Shadow Syndicate represents everything wrong with the galaxy.

Stretching their influence into as many outlets to expand their power and influence, albeit not the extent to draw the ire of the more powerful Hutt Cartels, the Shadow Syndicate is a growing danger to the more peaceful and orderly galaxy.

Unlike brutish pirates or raiders, the Shadow Syndicate's greatest weapon is their aptitude in corrupting others, particularly legal or political officials, to in turn grant them degrees of leverage. Intimidation, fear-mongering, bribery, blackmail and propaganda are the Shadow Syndicate's favored methods, although they are far from above assassinations, abductions or torture.

Although chiefly found as one of the many players of Hutt Space, elements representing the Shadow Syndicate can sometimes be found in various points of the Outer Rim, such as the Labor Alliance and running their routine "recruitment drives" of slave hauling and trading.

Gavros Krauch

MALE / HUMAN / 34 / ORD ANTALAHA / SHADOW SYNDICATE / BOSS

Previously the Shadow Syndicate’s Boss in charge of spreading their influence and corruption in Christophsis, Gavros Krauch was captured by the Accord after an attempt was made on a Christophsian guild leader’s life. Having gleaned all the information from him that they can, he has since been imprisoned in The Reef.

With Outlander's approval to use his stuff as a base concept this could have some promise.

Hey fellas! o/ While originally the Shadow Syndicate was an NPC faction part of the Accord's backstory, it was actually something originally created and written up by @Korvo. While I can't speak for him, I don't think he'll have too much of a problem with you expanding the group into a proper indie. As for the NPC boss, I did in fact create him for the purpose of a mission, where he was captured and subsequently locked up in the Accord's supermax prison. If you want to use him, though, he could likely have escaped when the Accord was shut down by the Sith before the timeskip.

Well hopefully Korvo won't mind, and I'm totally down for having the npc be around again. Would you mind sending me a link to that story mission so I know how he behaves? Unless you'd like to do a thread where my character meets him and they talk about starting all this? I totally see Evelyn seducing him and moving her way up to the top of the ranks.

Yeah, I was thinking about that as well! Here's the mission - I imagine he's basically a very loose-tempered David Tennant, sort of like how he was in Jessica Jones as Kilgrave.

I could possibly offer some opposition in the slave trading threads. Also, I think @DudeTheManatee has a crime lord type character that has a David Tennant face claim. Though obviously several people have used David as a FC in the past.
