Just want to ask what you all would think about a lightweight mechanics system that still emphasized writing over numbers but allowed for more breathing room combat wise for players to handle issues on their own before needing an admin to step in, as well as help players to make a more specialized archetype.

So, anybody interested?

I promise I don't bite.

Much.

To start, the very basics.

Four stats, a stamina system, general combat skills are a maybe, a currency to spend on them.

The idea is to take the loose ideas we have now regarding pvp and try to balance it out. A person trying to make a Sage like character won't be tied down by a physical number of force powers they can use at once, allowing them to fully live out the experience of being a full on caster type if they want it, meanwhile others can go for a full warrior vibe and others can find something in between.

This would also help in making armor a more substantial thing, as one of the stats would be Defense, which is perpetually at Zero until armor is worn.

After that you have Power, Accuracy, and Speed. Power for both Force and Physical attacks, Accuracy for exactly what it says, and speed for how capable you are at dodging.

Checks would come into play, comparing numbers against each other in tiers for varying effects, which only sounds more complicated than what it really is.

Best part about it all? It's totally optional. It's just another step before having to call in an Admin or Mod if two players can't agree on what's happening.

The biggest thing though in ask of this wouldn't be the numbers to guide things along, but a method of controlling the action economy to make nobody makes a bunch of moves at once.

Simply put, you'd be limited to two actions, maybe three, no more blocking one attack, then launching about two in return after running and controlling a console or something. It'd place the focus on the exact moment, forcing a writer to pay more attention and think of how to defeat their opponent
