The Senyin Empire

“We are all riders of the same cosmic Flow, and our actions resonate within. Let those ripples in the galactic river be strong, peaceful, and everlasting.”
- Otuno Senyin, First Grand Lord of the Imperial Age
Hello, guys! Come one, come all, and hear my tale of my bid for a faction on this site: The Senyin empire. The main point of this idea is to answer a rather simple question: What if… Space Feudal Japan, complete with Space Samurai. Real Space Samurai, not that monk bullshit that Jedi do.

I took the idea of other cultures developing different mentalities around the presence of the Force, and developing it into a full civilization. Instead of being built around just the Light/Dark dichotomy in their teachings, the Senyin possess a way of belief very similar to that of Shintoism. In their way of belief, which is centered around the “Flow” of life in the galaxy, all things possess and represent aspects of the Flow. Emotions, objects, people, are all connected as in the main principles of the Living Force, but where the Senyin are concerned, embracing emotions is just one manner of following in line with the Flow.

In a very direct difference from the main Jedi teachings, those born Force-sensitive are not given combat training. They are taken and raised in special shrines dedicated to the various “paths” within the Flow, and trained to hone their abilities.

“But Praxi!” You’re probably asking the computer, a futile effort until you type it, “If the Force-sensitives aren’t given combat training, where are the space samurai?” Well fear not! Because that’s where the anarai come in. Trained in ancient ways, able to keep up with the combat of blasters, and usually raised to lead troops in battle, the anarai wield electro-weapons forged with songsteel, and are the Senyin’s equivalent to the Jedi. That’s right, lightning katanas.

In addition to the anarai and the shrine-priests, the people of the Senyin empire are also no stranger to clandestine operations. The Soshin, or “Faceless”, are the ninja-equivalent in this whole ordeal. Brought in as spymasters for the Grand Lord, or operants for the various non-government businesses within the Empire, these slippery and skilled agents are so named for the traditional masks they wear.

Traditionalism and honor, but a willingness to apply their traditions in inventive ways are what keep the Senyin apart from other groups like the Sith and Jedi. My plan is to have this faction begin and expansion away from the three moons they inhabit, and explore the Outer Rims, encountering other cultures and civilizations along the way. They bring a fresh look to the nature of the Force, a new, Japanese-y flavor to the galaxy, and an outlet for weebs like me.

Hmmm, an interesting Idea. Just not my style however. If I were to join an Indi. faction, I would want to join a militaristic type.

A fair point, but there is a good amount of militarism if you choose to be a anarai or a soldier in the Empire's army. I intended for the faction to have a good amount of range.

I have an idea myself actually, how about an early version of the CIS?
