*Jace Kyjar was walking around the eerie plateau that was Malachor V. Green, toxic light eminated from the cracks out of the ground and large stalactite rocks jutted out of the ground. It was a very pleasent place, to say the least, and to make things even better he had to fight a demon of some sort. From what little he had seen of the previous match, he knew that this... thing was a Sith of some sort, and a powerful one if it advanced past Master Matchek.

That was but one of his problems though, as he had heard whispers that they had received one of the worst of stipulations. Fighting with a Rancor, on this planet, was a death wish. Good thing the tournament didn't allow deaths. No site of the Rancor, or his opponent yet, so he just continued walking around.*

Resounding from within every crack, every hole and pit in the scarred, tormented world, a hideous laughter boomed out, striking at Jace from all directions, as if the beast were suddenly everywhere at once, mocking the young Jedi from all directions. Then, striking straight and through into the depths of the Jedi's mind, straight as an arrow, a voice suddenly appeared in his skull, past any and all mental protections the young Jedi had.

"So, I expected a challenge from one such as you...but it seems the Grandfather forgot about one of his children. I will be making sure he does not come back to you and complete his task, young Jedi..."

A flash of lightning struck the ground nearby from the stormy, clouded skies above, and suddenly Khavaal appeared, the great beast rearing his head up and howling a terrible, feral scream that was only matched by the scream of the rancor as it closed in on the pair. Khavaal lit his saber in readiness.

"Grandfather?"

*What the hell was this beast talking about? Jace was no child of some Grandfather as far as he knew. That was beside the point, as he forced the voice from his head and heard the roars of both the beast and the Rancor. He was clearly out matched, and his only hope would likely be to maneuver around the Rancor so that it would harm only the beast. Odds were, though, that the Rancor would be easily slain by Khavaal. Jace too ignited his lightsaber, one which struck a resemblance to that of his own great grandfather, and made himself ready as the rancor and the beast neared him.*

Khavaal's crimson red blade crackled with energy as he stood before Jace, silent, unmoving, simply gazing hatefully into the Jedi's eyes. Teh wind kicked up a little, and grey dust kicked up clouds in the wind between the two. The rancor interrupted the tension-filled moment, howeer, by attempting to swing an arm down to crush the Sith. Khavaal neatly took a step to the side as the fist came crashing down, then leapt up onto the creature's arm, running up the arm to sit on it's shoulder for a brief moment. Then, Khavaal leapt off of the creature's back, kicked up it's wings, and came crashing at Jace from above with a powerful two handed swing.

*Jace, too, was startled by the sudden attack of the Rancor. He had to jump backwards to avoid being hit, even though the attack may have been aimed at the Sith. He then watched curiously as the demon ran up the arm of the Rancor and perched itself on its shoulder. Then it jumped and wings flew out of its body and Jace had no clue what was going on anymore. He ran forwards to get out of the way of the incoming strike and in doing so rolled right under the Rancor. It began spinning around wildly trying to stomp on Jace, and in the process was swinging its arms around too. Jace was able to run away from the Rancor and take place behind a stalactite, feeling safe for the moment.*

With Jace in hiding and the Rancor still rampagng, Khavaal did something rather...unexpected.

He threw his saber into the air.

Oh, but this wasn't just playing with a toy like a child, no, for as he flung his saber, he then rubbed his hands together, clapped them and planted tem firmly on the ground. There was a mild trembling, not a physical one, but a sudden rush of power could be felt by both of them as Khavaal exerted his Hidden Art into hte very ground itself.

Suddenly, all of the chasms and cracks in the area began belching out hideous green gasses from deep within the decaying bowels of Malachor. The gas was thick, and obviously had a negative effect on the body, as Khavaal's wngs beat several times as he headed for higher ground.

*Jace looked around in confusion as he felt the earth shake beneath him, thinking that possibly the Rancor had been killed. Looking out from behind his protection, he saw that was untrue as the Rancor was standing and still as pissed as ever. The next thing he noticed, he began to get weaker as he saw the green fumes of Malachor rising up from the cracks for some reason. He lept from where he was up on top of the Rancor to escape the gas, then concentrated on finding his opponent, while the Rancor itself began to grow weaker from the fumes.*

"You see, child...victory is impossible against me. I have the powers of the Grandfather you did not even know. And that is why you will fail."

A fresh gust of wind blew most of the gas away, though whether the timely wind was of the beast's own creation, or if it was simply natural...that would remain a mystery. Still, the creature took this moment to crash down to the earth, saber back in hand, as he darted around the Rancor as it stumbled in an attempt to recover. The huge creature was more advantageous to Khavaal's situation than it was to the young Jedi's, so Khavaal allowed a minor mercy by letting it live. Still, the young Jedi's...evasiveness was becoming irritating. Khavaal allowed himself to restrain himself as he slowed his momentum, simply keeping out of range of the rancor while he allowed Jace to go on the offensive for a change.

*Jace could feel the Sith beast coming towards him and the Rancor and spun around, expecting to have to defend himself from an attack this time. He was suprised when he found this was not the case, the beast slowing his pace as if he were waiting for Jace to attack him. Jace was always confident in his abilities and enjoyed going on the attack, despite being a Soresu user. He threw his lightsaber at Khavaal spinning rapidly.*

Khavaal thrust his hand out to control the spin of the blade, watching as it began slowing more and more as it came towards him. Then, with his other hand, saber still in hand, he thrust out his palm, with two fingers raised. A huge amount of dust and gravel kicked up as a concentrated Force Push brushed past the saber and went for the young Jedi. Hopefully this would distract or knock Jace over so that he would lose his control over the blade - and then it would be over.

*Jace saw his lightsaber beginning to slow down, then noticed the raised hand of his opponent and began getting confused. His confusion was washed aside when a wave of the force hit him square in the chest and sent him flying back. His last action was to put all of his power into thrusting the lightsaber forward uncontrollably towards Khavaal. Jace flew off the Rancor's head and crashed into one of the mountainous formations, then fell to the ground woozily. He could hear the roar of the Rancor approaching him, clearly pissed off.*

Khavaal leapt to the side as Jace's lightsaber shot past his head, singing his hair and placing a hole in one of his wings. With a roar out of surprise as much as pain, Khavaal thrust his hand out as a deep thrumming of power could be felt in the ground itself. Khavaal's managed to gain control of Jace's saber, having lost its momentum after Jace fell from the Rancor's head. The saber hilt came rocketing back to Khavaal's free hand as he grasped it with a measure of discomfort - the hilt was designed for a smaller person, and Khavaal's hand barely fit in between the handle and the guard.

With a saber in each hand, Khavaal slowly approached the rancor and the Jedi, who were obviously pre-occupied with each other.

*Jace now saw that he was clearly outmanned. A rancor on one side and a large beast carrying two lightsabers coming slowly towards him. To make things worse, he had no lightsaber out right now to defend himself, and didn't feel like using his fathers at the moment. He got up and ran as fast as he coudl through the maze that was Malachor, trying to get away from both the rancor and the beast. But he seemed to forget that the beast could fly.*

OOC: poor post, but i'm in a rush.

Indeed, the beast could fly, and it did. Spreading its enormous wings out, with a single beat and a gust of air, Khavaal rose into the sky like a fel demon from within the bowels of Malachor. With a hideous scream, the beast let it be known it had taken to the air, and soared over the landscape in search of its prey, swooping over the landscape to look within the canyons and crags that Malachor's surface consisted of.

Finally, alighting on the beacon of Force energy the Jedi padawan gave off, the beast managed to make a rough guess of an appropriate location to cut the Jedi off was, and landed there. You cannot run, nor hide...

*Jace stopped in his tracks when he saw the demon land right in front of him. He knew at that moment, with Khavaal in front of him and the rancor behind him, that he had no choice now but to fight. He reached to his belt and pulled out his father's lightsaber and ignited it, the same blue glow coming out and illuminating the walls even more. He had to twirl it around in his hand a couple times to get used to it, it was a little uncomfortable, but it would have to do.

Now would be the perfect time to test what he had thought about in his training. Would it be possible to take advantage of a lightsaber being able to ignite and disignite quickly? He would find out soon, but for now he got into his Soresu position and waited for Khavaal, who had now two lightsabers in his hands.*

With his dual sabers in hand, Khavaal was also more than a little uncomfortable, but he would have to improvize. With astounding speed, the Sith closed the distance between his self and the Jedi Padawan, a slight frustration mingling with a slight adrenaline rush that this padawan was providing him such a work out. Khavaal performed a repeat of a move he had previously used in another battle, though with two sabers it became twice as deadly. The beast flapped its wings, propelling itself forward at an even faster rate, corkscrewing through the air with his sabers held across his torso, the blades pointing outward.

*Jace saw Khavaal speeding towards him in the air, twirling with both lightsabers prepared to kill. He dropped to the ground to narrowly avoid the attack as Khavaal went over him. He then rolled to get back up and decided that he needed to go on the offensive, and no time better than now to play a new trick.

He ran towards the beast, figuring it would have stopped after it realized it had missed him and made a powerful strike at Khavaal. However, when his lightsaber got close to the beast, he deactivated it and then reactivated it quickly, hopefully getting by any defenses that were there. Of course, he would now be left defenseless without another lightsaber.*

The problem with de-activating and re-activating a lightsaber is that you need roughly four secondsof time to perform the trick at its most rapid. The creation and ignition of the blade is quick, yes, but the stifling of the blade is a rather lengthy process, taking two or three seconds on average for the continual loop to be shut down safely. In addition, excess usage of this will eventually drain the power cell, as it is the only part of the process where energy is expended and not recycled, other than when the blade is in contact with another object. Still, the tactical merit of such a brave move certainly was admirable - the brash riskiness of Jace's maneuvre reflected heavily his Kyjar heritage.

Khavaal had been allowed significant time to recover by the time he grounded himself and turned halfway to meeting his enemy. It was by mere coincidence that the Sith used his blades as one weapon rather than two independant blades that stopped Jace's attack, though now the Jedi was in the predicament of having his blade lodged between the sith's own two blades, locking it in place. With a malicious grin, Khavaal moved to the side and allowed his blades to guide Jace's down past the Sith's torso, bringing a knee up to the Padawan's midsection as he moved forward.

*The knee connected with Jace right in the gut, causing him to fall over onto his knees and clutch his stomach. His lightsaber fell down at his side and deactivated itself and he knew now that he was defenseless. He knew now that he was beaten, unless his opponent wanted to toy with him a little bit longer.*

Two sabers plunged into the earth besides Jace's neck, trapping him. If he moved an inch, the Padawan would suffer from a cauterized jugular, which was basically as good as a severed neck - no blood flow meant no brainwave activity and therefore death. Khavaal knew he would be announced the victor, but he decided, perhaps out of some vision granted to him by the Force, that he would grant an even greater mercy on this Jedi. Kneeling down besides the trapped Jedi, he whispered something in the Kyjar boy's ear, and though the boy would not understand it to any extent, it was of no importance. Would he would experience, however, would be interesting indeed. Echoing, reverberating through his skull as he lay there, Khavaal's voice echoed;

Soon, young child, you will finally awaken, and when that occurs...I will be waiting to teach you.
