Ok, so, a while back, there was a tournament kind of thing, that massively stalled exclusively for Jedi. It was massively popular (as tournaments always are around here), but it flopped magnificently (as tournaments always do around here).

So, I'm proposing that we try this again, but under our supervision, instead of a random Padawan's.

IC justification will be easy, something like Augustus choosing to test the current crop of Jedi in lifelike conditions. It would be open to all Jedi, but aiming to match similar skill to similar skill, at least to begin with.

I'm more than happy to set the ball rolling on this one, and then we can follow it up with a new wave of missions (and tidy up the current mission thread at the same time) for the newly tested (and perhaps promoted?) Jedi afterwards.

I reckon it'll just be a neat little thing to draw a little interest/activity/excitment. Plus, we can totally dangle the hint of promotion/reward to the victor(s).

So, Y/N?

On the fence. I don't think the tournament flopped because of who was running it, I think it flopped because when you have something like this that inevitably will be drawn out then people will lose interest. Anyone could be running it and people would still lose interest.

True enough, but I think it could serve as a decent, inclusive way of keeping interest and faction activity high once the battle is over.

Failing that, I also want to use it to cherry pick strong swordsmen for my inner circle thingy.

But mainly that first reason.

Limit the number of posts in each match. Don't make it a "you must beat this person," but rather "you must prove your fighting skills" or something. That way you can put a cap on the amount of posts, judge the best person, and advance them into the next round.

It's something new, but it prevents duels that just never end.

I think that would work perfectly. Also, cutting the grace period dramatically and having a zero tolerance for not posting, I think that'll encourage faster (or at the very least, more consistent) posting, and get things done with less risk of stalling?

Yeah. Say like if you don't respond for 2 days, and you haven't posted a Personal Notifications thread, you're automatically disqualified.

I'm half tempted to say 1 day but that's a bit harsh.

My gut was to go with one day, with an exception for personal notifications, but I suppose expecting someone to be able to post at least every single day is a little on the wishful thinking end of things. Plus the issue of time zones arise.

Two days should work though, yeah.

I'll start a write up, kinda thing, and should have that up sometime wednesday, I'll sling it in here when it's ready, see what choo guys think.
