Jedi Mentorship Program

A big piece of being a Jedi is mentoring to those with less experience. A master and their padawan is a powerful relationship that is great for storytelling. We have a lot of newer writers who are looking to get involved who need guidance both OOCly and ICly. Most of us can remember people who helped us get started when we first joined SWRP. They were the Yoda to your Luke. Now it is time to give back!

We need experienced Jedi (OOCly) to take on newer members. The best part about this is you don't have to be guiding them ICly as a Master if you do not wish it. In fact, there are cases where the Padawan would OOCly be guiding their IC Master. It can be tough to take on newer writers but if we can help them grow we can have a better time. More writers means more stories and more activity.

Those of you looking at Promotion Guidelines thinking it would be fun to lead, here is a big way to step up.

Yassss! I was just thinking about something like this.

Well, I am Noirceur but you can call me by my name (Ilan). I've been writing here for almost three years now, so you can safely assume I know a lot about the site and how it works. If you look around, you can see me hanging out in the New Member boards and generally handing out help where I can. It's simply in my nature. I can be a bit overwhelming with my explanations, but I simply believe it's best to have a big chunk of info to go to for reference when you're stuck than asking 100 tiny questions whenever you run into something. I like writing long, detailed posts and express what my characters would think in given situations, though not excessively so. While I'm no novel writer I find short, unimaginative, bland "Billy nodded and opened the door" posts to be particularly irritating. If that's your style, then don't worry either; I can give some tips on how to improve your writing. Finally, if you're looking for IC, master-apprentice guidance then we can also talk about that.

Well i would have to agree with this!!!

Im 'Talon' newer to this site but you can call me by my birth name (joshua) but have been getting tips from various other players and have learned alot and am willing to help others learn what i have been taught and more.

Ive been on RP sites for over a decade actually and enjoy it alot. I love to write long descriptive posts, but cant do it if someone just puts something like "johny nodded and left the room" i prefer to have a more extensive piece i can reply to.

On a personal level im in the military as an infantryman and am willing to help pass what i know on to others OOCly and ICly. My characters are in my sig if you are interested. Kip is the jedi knight who of course we could thread together with in the order and im down to do it with any of the other characters.

Already been helping other padawans and willing to help more!!!!

Alright, so I'd like to apply for mentor. Now, as you might know, I am somewhat new to the site, but I have learned, or at least I think, how to juggle around more aspects of SWRP. You might have seen me in the welcome boards, and occasionally offering constructive criticism towards tech and characters. I believe I would be a good mentor, especially to people I am already trying to help ( @Amaru especially)

That being said, I do have a lot on my plate in real life, and I wouldn't want anything more then someone that needs nudging in the right direction sometimes. Nothing too big.

I have been around for a long time, off and on. Last timeline, I played Jedi Master Kendra Dan-Dover, one of my favorite characters. My current Jedi is a little more eccentric but he could use a padawan ICly. OOCly, I love to help others, and I'm always happy to take the extra step to help someone out. Having said that, I have a demanding job, so my activity is sometimes sporadic and unpredictable.

If anyone ever needs anything, please feel free to PM me. I'll do all I can to help. Likewise, if you'd like to be a padawan under ol' Joffoc, let me know!

I may not be able to help with writing, grammar, spelling and all that (curse you disorder of written expression) but with every thing else I can help. Both my characters can be of help to in different ways though.

My writing stile gets a bit technical and I do use on the ocastion short posts I all so unlike many enjoy a good deafet. I don't need to win or be supper strong. Being weaker but escaping is a win to. I am all so online a lot.

Hi all, I will likely be looking for a mentor relatively soon to help me get the format for forum RP down as well as help develop my character (not sure if the latter is apart of this mentor program).

I have experience in RP but the format I am used to is vastly different than forums. I also dont have a computer at the moment, so I want to get all this stuff down before I get my computer back. Thanks!
