In deep space, far beyond the Rim, a lone ronin travels in search of the mysteries of the Force and on a quest to help those who cannot help themselves. A sworn wanderer, he follows the path of the Jedi alone, having never met another Knight of the Jedi Order. Amidst the celestial noise, etched with purpose and cloaked in the light of the Force, he moves from world to world driven by an unspoken intuition. A feeling. A premonition. He follows a stir, something deep in the veil between stars, lurking beyond the fringes of known space. A threat? An opportunity? A mere echo of past horrors, or a beckoning of what’s to come? A mere sentinel, seeking to heal the broken and unjust, the ronin who traveled alone knows he must soon walk a shared path and find that which has eluded him his entire life: the Jedi Order...

BIOGRAPHY

Jon Cordatus was born deep in the Outer Rim. If his homeworld, what little of it he could even remember, ever had a name, it was surely lost to time. His early years were marked by strange occurrences. He seemed to be able to see things before they happened. Not in any great detail -- this was no mere future-seeing -- but he could feel more deeply than others. He could sense that which was coming. Celebrations. Sorrow. The birth of new life. The loss of old. How people felt in the greatest joys and lowest depths.

At first, what seemed like a child’s empathy to his parents, mere settlers on this backwater world, began to manifest in other ways. Floating objects. Feats of strength. Bursts of joy that filled those around him with great warmth, and fits of anger that seemed to cast the light out of the sky itself. Whatever power stirred within him was unknown to his people, save for one elder in a nearby village who had only one word to describe what Jon was experiencing: Jedi.

This elder knew of one such being who had taken up in a monastery in the mountains, high above the settler villages that Jon and his family called home. His parents traversed the snowy wastes and found a lone Jedi Master, a young woman who had distanced herself from the structures of what she called the New Jedi Order. She called herself a mere seeker of wisdom, and stated she had renounced the conventional teachings handed down from “the Skywalker,” seeking deeper understandings of the Force than what she felt her Order would be able to provide. Sensing the potential within young Jon, she took the boy under her tutelage, and together they left that forgotten world and wandered the Outer Rim.

As Jon grew under the guidance of his master, he embraced the essence of a ronin Jedi -- a wandering warrior, unbound by convention but deeply attuned to the balance of the Force. His training was unconventional, emphasizing instinct, intuition, and trusting only in the Force itself and those whose light it had profoundly touched. Heh honed his skills in combat, but also gravitated toward the healing powers of the Force. His was a life of empathy and compassion, and in service to the Force he devoted himself to healing the sick and the broken. This gift became his calling, an embodiment of his desire to bring balance and aid to the suffering.

When he reached his twentieth year, Jon’s master deemed him ready and bestowed on him the mantle of Jedi Knight. At times they continued on their journey together, but Jon also preferred the solitary life of a wandering knight, guided only by his unwavering resolve to let the Force guide him to those who needed help. He mended wounds, cured ailments, and offered solace to the broken-hearted -- no matter how deep their sorrow ran.

Throughout his travels, as the years went on, Jon began feeling echoes of the dark side. He couldn’t place the feeling, exactly -- like subtle tendrils that coiled around the hearts of the vulnerable, as if light itself was becoming dimmer. He witnessed the shadowy influences of corruption, and a growing despair and anguish that ate at him. He heard of the growing battles between the Jedi and the Sith in the known galaxy, and the horrors they were influencing. But he was never sure if that was what he felt. There was an eerie resonance, some unseen menace lurking, perhaps gathering, deeper than what the galaxy was aware of.

He began to sense a pattern, a whisper, an underlying discontent that transcended time and space. Growing disturbed by these encounters and the palpable presence of something sinister, Jon began piecing together cryptic fragments of dreams from the Force. He saw glimpses of the unknown, yet the familiar, as if past and presence were colliding. He remembered the teaching he once received from his own master: “A Jedi’s dreams can speak of the past, or the future. Interpretation is the key.”

There came a point where Jon realized that his encounters with these dark glimpses meant he had to step off the solitary path and reach beyond the Outer Rim. Guided by nothing but his resolve and intuition, the ronin Jedi embarked on a new quest to find the Jedi Order that had eluded him his entire life and find answers to the looming darkness he worried was inevitable.

Personality, and connection to the Force

Jon embodies the spirit of a wandering warrior, detached from the conventions of the Jedi Order - at least, his understanding of the conventions, as his only exposure was his master who spoke cryptically of the teachings of “the Skywalker” from generations before. Whether his perceptions of the Order are correct, he nonetheless values his intuition and seeks a deep understanding of the Force. He possesses a natural empathy, driven by a desire to heal and alleviate suffering and darkness wherever he travels.

Having traveled throughout the Outer Rim, and a touch beyond, Jon carries experiences from countless worlds and cultures that have influenced and broadened his perceptions of the complex galaxy far beyond what his nameless settler world could have given him. These travels have also heightened his sensitivity to disturbances in the Force, small or large, compelling him to seek out the winder galaxy and the collective wisdom of the Jedi Order. His unconventional path, deep empathy, and intuitive readiness to help those in need may yet make him a formidable and unorthodox ally for a galaxy facing uncertainty.

Jon’s foremost ability with the Force lies in his mastery of his healing abilities. He can mend wounds, cure ailments, and even breathe a glimmer of life back into those on the brink of death. His healing touch lies not only in his ability to cure physical injuries, but also extends to soothing mental and emotional trauma as well. This stems from his capacity for empathetic connection through the Force. He can sense the emotions, pain, and at times intentions of others, offering him a soul-to-soul understanding that helps him provide comfort and guidance to those in need and form powerful bonds with others to share their burdens.

At times, this weighs on him. If he neglects his own burdens for too long, or the weight of others’ burdens he helps them carry, his own mental fortitude can begin to break and force him into his own periods of prolonged healing -- lest his own emotions begin to take the better of him.

Lightsaber combat style

Jon’s lightsaber style is primarily defensive and evasive, emphasizing redirection and non-lethal tactics whenever possible. He seeks to pacify an opponent, rather than cause harm through direct combat. To that end he uses a modified form of Soresu, the defensive Form III, to deflect and redirect while conserving energy and maintaining a defensive stance. For fluidity and a focus on deflecting rather than counterattacking, Jon also incorporates elements of Ataru, Form IV, to allow him to swiftly evade attacks and create distance between himself and his adversary.

Jon’s style reflects his healing nature and his belief in pacifying conflict, and he focuses on outmaneuvering and subduing throughout precise disabling strikes whenever possible. This allows him to fight for what’s needed while maintaining his belief in compassion, empathy, and the preservation of life.
