Hey all!
After endlessly searching for images suitable to an idea I had regarding tech, it got me thinking.
When creating a new character, do you find an image to suit your characters or create the character and find a suitable image afterwards?
Same goes with any creation! Is it the image that gives you the inspiration? Or do you find one to fit the creation post creation?

Edit: And if its the image first, do you have a particular source that you go to often? Pintrest comes to mind.

It's a bit of both for me actually. Sometimes I can form the basic idea for a character in my head first, then from that comes an image that I feel fits the idea. That process doesn't always work too well though, because if I don't find the exact image to match the vision I have, the whole concept just falls apart. On the flip side though, sometimes an image comes along that just jumps out at me and I try to form an idea around it.

That was (more or less) how my Mandalorian (Lexi) came about. I had found the image for her some time ago, and while I didn't really have a purpose for that image at the time, I knew somewhere down the line I could make it work. So when this timeline kicked off and the current Imperial Legion began as the Sacred Band, the connection seemed obvious: girl with tribal tattoos would fit in well among the Sith. Granted she didn't stay there for long (only a couple weeks really), but the connection between her image and the SBZ was just too good to scrap, so I kept her tenure with the Sith as part of her background.

As far as image sources go, Pinterest has become my go to, though I will occasionally peruse Deviant Art for those artists who don't mind their work being re-distributed.
