“We can’t forget our past. So I do the next best thing. Run.”
-- Kara Sessren

Appearance and Personality: Kara has long, pale-white hair, worn so it freely drapes over her neck and shoulders. Her long hair is accompanied by her blank, white colored eyes, granting her the ability to see in infrared but also making her eyes very sensitive to normal light. She has relatively pale skin, a common trait among pureblood Arkanian women.

Kara has an astute sense of observation – bordering on paranoia – and tends to over-analyze everything and everything. In addition, Kara tends to be extremely overcritical and reprimands others for the most minute errors and excusable faults; she rarely feels apathy or sympathy for those who make mistakes or make horrible presumptions.

Ironically enough, Kara also has an incurable arrogance, and refuses to admit her own faults and failures. Due to trauma early in her life and the pain in realizing she had abandoned her own children, Kara tends to avoid problems in her own life and focus on other people’s issues. Though she has had problems with anger in the past, she has learned to control her rage and suppress the violent furies that had haunted her for a long time.

History: Kara Sessren was born to a merchant family on Arkania. The youngest daughter of three siblings, Kara received a fickle amount of love and attention from her parents, and was shunned due to the right of the Arkanian firstborns. This caused Kara to dip in and out of depression at an early age; she craved attention, but found herself unable to get her family to notice her. Her only friend at the time was the second-oldest child in the family, her brother, Runan.

Shortly after her fourteenth birthday, Kara’s parents were killed in a speeder accident while they were delivering goods to a seedy client on the far side of Arkania. For the next few months, Kara’s eldest brother, Kranan, supported his younger siblings and worked long hours to feed them. Though times were hard for the three siblings, the children complained as little as they could, because they knew Kranan was doing all he could. Eventually, the Arkanian government tracked down their location, and local officials met the three siblings and sent them – along with many other orphaned children – to a monastery on Coruscant responsible for caring for homeless and abandoned children.

To Kara and her brothers, however, life in the monastery was more difficult than life on the streets of Arkania. Forced to intermingle with other species, the three proud Arkanians found themselves alienated when they traveled through the crowd of orphaned children. After a few years living in the monastery, Runan fell ill after a vicious plague struck Coruscant and the neighboring worlds. Due to the lack of medical care in the facility, the heads of the monastery called upon the Jedi stationed on Coruscant for medical aid. Though the Jedi managed to heal most of the sick children in time, Runan succumbed to the disease before the Jedi could arrive. Kara was heartbroken by the death of her brother, and she felt lost and betrayed by the world. Though the Jedi assisted the children by moving them to the Jedi temple to serve as caretakers and custodians, the lives of the youth didn’t improve. The working conditions were still dangerous and unclean, and the wages were poor.

Over the course of their stay in the temple, Kranan discovered his latent Force-sensitivity, and he was taken in as a Padawan in the Jedi Order. Kranan disowned his sister during his training, driving the final wedge between their relationships. Alone and helpless, Kara shut herself away from the world and kept her problems and worries inside, not sharing them with anyone. Slowly developing an independent attitude, Kara worked alone to achieve her ultimate goal of leaving this old life behind. Though the work was tedious and strenuous, Kara’s hard work was finally rewarded. After spending several years working for the Jedi, Kara purchased a small starfighter craft from a local merchant and vowed to leave Coruscant, never to return as long as her older brother was alive.

Returning to Arkania, Kara attempted to start a new life. Founding a store in the planet’s capital city, Kara turned toward spice to drown out any sorrows that remained from her past experiences. While she was purchasing spice by a swoop track, she met Ri-Nor Sessren, a swoop pilot and gambler. After spending several months together, Ri-Nor and Kara had their first child, and were eventually wed. After marrying Ri-Nor, Kara had four more children with him, though her favorite was Arva, the youngest of their children.

After spending several years with Ri-Nor, Kara grew tired of his swoop racing habits and his ineptitude at gambling. After he gambled away some of their savings, Kara stormed out of their house and spent several months traveling, attempting to clear her mind. While she was traveling, Kara arrived at Tae'Sha, the sister-world of Alsakan. The world was lush and peaceful, and the natives there helped her achieve a certain degree of serenity and relaxation that she hadn’t known before. Returning to her husband and children, she apologized for her previous behavior and attempted to rectify the wrongs that were happening in their family.

However, it became clear that Ri-Nor and Kara were never meant to be together. After Ri-Nor attempted to physically abuse Kara, she fled from him and returned only after he had sobered up. She quickly decided she had taken enough from Ri-Nor and made up her mind to leave his family. Saying one last goodbye – in the form of a lullaby – to young Arva, Kara fled Arkania and began to wander the galaxy, searching for a place to call her home.

Abilities: Kara is quite proficient in piloting vehicles, especially starships. She makes a living repairing and piloting vessels of all shapes and sizes - from tourist yachts to smuggling runs. However, besides ships, she is technological illiterate, and cannot use a computer terminal or comlink to save her life.

Though she doesn't engage in combat often, Kara taught herself how to use a basic blaster sidearm to defend herself. Though she can use it to a certain extent, her capabilities pale in comparison to trained soldiers and mercenary types.
