For the next ten years, Nar Shaddaa becomes Korben' home and fortress, although living there was quite dangerous because of plenty of criminal persons who were controlling major parts of the planet. Dallas family has been neighbors with several different alien species families like Tiss'shars and Amaran. Despite the cultural and language differences, the families were able to become friends by helping each other. For Korben it was a real gift since whole his free time he was spending with alien' kids. He even was able to learn Tiss'es language for a bit, albeit the way how human speak on Tiss'sharl was spooky and funny at once. But this was the detail which was distinguished him among other humans because not too many humans on the "Smuggler Moon" could understand Tiss'shar language.
Unfortunately, the childhood of Korben' wasn't as bright as he desired. Being a kid, he was working as a light aircrafts mechanic (a vehicle designed for planetary usage only) in a Red Light's sector company owned by a large Hutt cartel. The money he has been earning was well enough to cover daily expenses, but quite often the cartel used Korben skills to kill their targets by making an aircraft malfunctioned when a victim was coming for help. In addition, the employer was a really greedy syndicate, hence Dallas was forced to do additional work to get items which were needed for work to be done. Despite the fact that Dallas was strongly against such type of business, Hutt's chief keep saying him that he must do this job if he doesn't want to finish the rest of his days somewhere in the Shadow Town. And so Korben keep working in such flow for five years. He was too young to do something significant, but at this point, he already promised himself to never be a complete scum to do such sort of thing.
But Korben' patience couldn't last forever and reached the top when one day he was instructed to plant the bomb into Tiss'shar recreation glider. Because the boy was usually good to those reptiles, he hadn't planted the bomb and instead blew up the place where he has been working in order to disappear from the eyes of his employers. Was it love to the specimen or something other, Korben couldn't say even today. But the trick worked only a half. Next weeks Korben' parents were frequently asked about the location of his son, even threatened, but their attempts weren't successful. It had granted to Korben second chance to find a better job. And so he does while tried to live quietly for a year.
Korben enlists himself in the Imperial army and has been assigned to the internal Imperial Hutta troops where he served for six years as a ground vehicle technician and a driver. This is where he has also got piloting skills alongside some military ones, i.e. working with weapons and hand-to-hand combat. Even the fact that Korben performed well (as for a driver), the racism which was rewarded amongst the army invoked a feeling of disgust. As the one, who often was involved in the encounters against the Rebellion, he knew it perfectly. Non-human specimen Rebels (i.e. aliens) were usually killed instantly without any war prisoners procedures which as a rule were applied to humans. And there were some beings whom Korben... liked. But he assumed, that none of the alien's specimen is good or bad (in terms of deeds), but making the life of a sentient difficult just because it's not a human did not coincide with the Korben' views Korben' and so he retired from the army because he can't kill ones he likes. At the moment he was about twenty years old, and he began to look for a stable job. So he became a taxi driver, working for an independent taxi service, which required her drivers much more than driving skills. It was a taxi service with a special customer care. Usually, cab drivers had performed the role of a bodyguard even while during a trip, and thus the service provided many opportunities for improving shooting skills. But Korben was able to improve his hand-to-hand combat skills during attempts of different syndicates to make a cab service their own property.
Such features had help Korben one day to save the life of his Tiss'shar neighbor when she felt in his cab being chased by some bad people. Unfortunately, a few months later Cher disappeared and after small own investigation, Dallas figured out that her favorite reptile was alive. Korben simply didn't know where she gone. That is why he gathered all his credits, bought a ship and decide to find her whatever it will cost him. The profession of the taxi driver wasn't interested him anymore and this was one more reason why he started his career as a mercenary.

Because Dallas had risen among alien species, he is open to working with almost any kind of sentients. Especially its true about Amaran, Tiss'shar, and Shistavanen species. They simply look interesting for him and when he had some business with them, Korben felt unique himself. And happy. Dallas will work with almost any person because if you're a well-known marauder you have to force him to cooperate with you. And although Nar Shaddaa was his home, he will never admit his affiliation to any of war sides. But secretly he supports Rebels and might help them if he capable and there is no visible threat to mark him as a person who helps Rebels. Korben cares about his reputation as a completely independent mercenary and usually will try to wipe out any shreds of evidence of his cooperation with any of sides. The kill is the last resort of methods he using for such sort of things, but if he has to do that... he does.
The only thing he truly hates is the word "Must" which is related to his childhood and buried in his memory as an allergen. Being a kid he quite often had to hear this word when he needs to do a job and in most cases, the job was dirty and terrible. He couldn't resist and thus has to obey, but once he became free, the only thing he must to do is to survive. Live. Anyone else has no rights to tell him what to do and what's not. Otherwise, huge debates will rise and probably it will end with a scuffle provoked by Dallas.
Korben doesn't really believe in goodness and evilness because what can be good for one, might be true crime and evil for another. But because he is a reluctant member of the ongoing war, sometimes he has to choose between credits and morale. Despite the fact his main focus is making money, he keeps trying to save his humanity and if there is a place for a moral, he opts for the moral choice. All in all, he just wants to live his life calm and with no troubles, but Korben knows, that without efforts it can't happen. Hence here he is. It also worth to mention, that Korben never claim himself as a bounty hunter, but sometimes he does bounties in case it has reasonable price and sense.
He doesn't really likes what happens in the Galaxy and accusing Force users in everything that happens today, therefore he doesn't interested to work with them. It doesn't mean he won't work with them completely, but if he has a job offer from a Force user and non-Force user, he will pick the job of the last one.
