crysis.jpg

  • Kösï Y'hëv - Altair is highly adept in the exotic Kösï Y'hëv martial arts. Kösï Y'hëv is almost exclusively composed of death blows and bone breaking techniques. Preferring to incapacitate his targets from a ranged position, he rarely engages in close-range combat.
  • Espionage - Altair excels in stealth and espionage, and is highly skilled in gathering information through spying and infiltration or surveillance devices.
  • Survivalist - Due to his life during his childhood and adolescent years, Altair is an expert on surviving with limited or no supplies.
  • Interrogation - Although he does not prefer the art, as Altair prefers not making unnecessary contact with people besides his target, Altair is a self-taught employer of interrogation. Lacking the knowledge of mental interrogating, Altair uses brutal, physical interrogation to achieve his goals.
  • Ranged weaponry - Besides the hard knuckles of his armor, Altair has no melee weapons and thus depends on his prowess with ranged weaponry.
  • Sniping specialist - Although Altair is experienced in many kinds of ranged weaponry, including blasters as well as slugthrowers, he favors the art of sniping over other, more direct methods. With the aid of his Bionic eye, Altair is an elitist in sniping.
  • Marksman - Whether sniping or not, Altair is an excellent marksman, both naturally and with the aid of his Bionic eye.
  • Polyglot - Altair is well versed in the many common and exotic languages of the galaxy, and knows an extensive amount of dialects including Cin'natri, Huttese, Shyriiwook, Thykarann, Durese, Zabraki, Khilese, Gamorrese, Adarese, and Aqualish.

LIGHTSABER/SWORD FORMS: N/A

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES: Being an assassin, Altair is in peak physical condition and very intelligent, preferring brains over brawn. However, Altair is very distrustful, and almost always works solo. Due to his experience in the Black Fangs, Altair is an accomplished tactician and a natural-born survivalist. Altair's most obvious vulnerability is his lack of melee weapons. Due to his bionic eye being attached with the inner workings of Altair's brain and nervous system, Altair is subject to cripplingly intense headaches. This has caused Altair to become dependent on regular drug injections every eight hours to null it's pain.

GEAR:

  • Prototype "Nautilus" Exoskeleton - Dominantly crafted from pure Ultrachrome and marginally from Neuranium alloy, the Nautilus was a one-of-a-kind exoskeleton created by an unknown party. The Nautilus is outstandingly protective. As it is made of Ultrachrome, it is superconductive, deflects blasters and slugthrowers, is immune to metal-eating fungi and is invulnerable to lightsabers unless the blade and the suit were kept in a continuous period of contact. Being an exoskeleton, it also arguments Kurin's natural strength, speed, and agility. The suit's most unique feature, however, was it's sonar navigational capabilities called the Nautilus System. By sending unhearable high-pitched soundwaves, the suit's helmet interface could show any objects within a set radius using echolocation.
  • Bionic eye - An artificial eye implanted into Altair's left socket. Although is causes intense pain to his nervous system, constant use of drugs has lulled the pain. The bionic eye grants Altair a maximum 3.5 kilometer telescopic focusing vision, as well as night, thermographic and infrared vision. In addition, Altair's bionic eye allows him to see the "trail" left by warm-bodied, or biological, beings, in case they escape his range of sight or are in an immensely populated area.
  • Magnetic hardpoints - Metallic plates with magnetic properties. Altair makes constant use of the magnetic hardpoints in varying situations, often giving him an edge when taking out his targets or gathering information. Altair uses the magnetic hardpoints in his suit to attach himself to metallic walls and climb them with ease. Magnetic plates are located in the following hardpoints: the palmplates, fingercaps, backplate, elbowcaps, kneecaps, upper soles, and heels. (Image is of a standard Magnetic Plate, uncustomized)
  • EMP Blackout Overloader - A special electromagnetic device Altair created ideally to be used in minor "technological warfare" situations. Rather than disabling or jamming electronic devices as a normal EMP device would, the Blackout sends out electrical waves which supercharges the components and circuits of operating hardware and systems that derive their power from electricity. Superconductive substances, such as Altair's exoskeleton, are immune to it's effects, though Altair rarely uses it as it does occasionally interfere with his Bionic eye. Because of this, Altair typically relies on his exoskeleton's Nautilus System to navigate. Atlair usually carries several EMP Blackout Overloaders on his contract missions, due to the galaxy's universal dependence on sophisticated electric devices.
  • 34-SST Projectile Rifle - Altair's first sniping rifle. Crafted by Altair himself, the 34-SST Projectile Rifle was Altair's favored weapon during the days he was affiliated with the Black Fangs. It is fitted with a 500 meter scope, APRs (Armor Piercing Rounds), and a Class-A (originally Class-C) silencer. Although no longer his favored weapon, Altair does occasionally use the slugthrower rifle when it would better handle the situation.
  • B-390 Heavy Automatic Gatling Gun - As TX-17 once told Altair, there comes a time when you need to drop the subtleties and get the job done. The B-390 Heavy Automatic Gatling Gun is the weapon for those situations. Altair's favored weapon when the need arises to take out multiple groups of enemies in close quarters. Like the 34-SST, Altair loads the B-390 with APRs. Unlike Altair's other weapons, however, the B-390 wasn't modified by him in any way, and even remains unpainted.
  • DXR-107E9 High-Powered Disruption Sniping Rifle - Altair's current signature weapon of choice, the DXR-107E9 was a customized high-powered sniping rifle. The original model was one of the ten DXR-32s, a highly prized weapon among collectors for there being only ten in the galaxy and for it's status as a disruption rifle. Despite that, it was rarely used due to it's design. The DXR-32 Disruptor could not be modified with a scope, hence, few could use it effectively for sniping, and it never became popular throughout the galaxy. Altair radically modified the DXR-32 Disruptor Rifle beyond recognition, renaming his creation the DXR-107E9 High-Powered Disruption Sniping Rifle. The DXR-32 has two power settings known as "Tactical Range Designation" or TRD. The two TRDs consist of the primary sniping mode, and a close-range setting for miscellaneous situations. The first setting TRD setting programs the rifle to fire high-powered particle beams, signature for incinerating the flesh and bone of a target if the shot is placed correctly. The second TRD setting fires lower-powered blasts. Though weaker, it still burns through tissue and can be fired consecutively, making it choice for closer-ranged confrontations.

PERSONALITY: Altair outwardly appears to be, and for the most part is, an indifferent, untrusting, and apathetic man. He carries little morals on life and takes no remorse in killing, even since he was young, which led some who knew of him to believe he was born without a conscience. When searching for targets, Altair prefers to achieve his information through espionage, though he also used interrogation on select individuals to achieve his means. Altair uses any tactics in such a situation as he sees fit, including the commonly seen as "inhumane" methods of mutilation and dismemberment. When hunting his targets, Altair was known to be equally cautious as he was ruthless. Altair held true loyalties towards very few people, and wouldn't hesitate to betray individuals he didn't trust when he believed it would be in his best interest.

HISTORY:

((Important note: Through out the story, will be referred by his legal name, Kurin Halikos, then by his alias, Altair, at different points.))

Beginnings

The man without a past was born on the crime-infested moon of Cinnatar. There were few that were strangers to the infamous Veiled City. Slave trading, spice smuggling, pirating, bribery - despite being in the Galactic Core, the Hollow Moon was a filthy haven for the scum of the galaxy. Corruption rode through every inner working of the system's government. It was it's stabilizer, it's economy. There were only two kinds of people that settled on Cinnatar: those who came against their will, and those who were kept there against there will. Even those with power despised the moon for what it was, wrenched, polluted and congested. Nearly everyone whose been to Cinnatar would concur that it was the worst place in the galaxy to live. But to one man, it was the only home he'd ever known.

Homeless and without a family, Kurin was an orphan boy who grew up in the undercities of the the moon. Kurin's family died from a disease rampantly throughout the Cinnatar undercities. The only thing Kurin had left was his name, Kurin... Halikos. Living on the outskirts of a massive garbage facility, Kurin stole, lied and scavenged to survive. When Kurin turned thirteen, he attempted to improve his current lifestyle, and began looking into criminal affiliation possibilities. In time, the 13-year-old Kurin was admitted into one of Cinnatar's newest underworld gangs, the Black Fangs. On Cinnatar, a gang's power came through growth in numbers and the elimination of other gangs. The Black Fangs were no exception. Over the next four years of constant gang wars, the Black Fangs had become one of the more prominent "minor gangs", and Kurin had risen to one of it's elitist enforcers. During this time, Kurin learned Kösï Y'hëv, a martial art that was first developed by the people of Cinnatar's undercities to fight against the gangs. It was now a fighting form unique to that particular sector of the undercities. ((Until further notice, Kurin will be referred to by his gang name))

As a Tyros

By this time, the hardened adolescent had already become known by a new name, Altair, a bright star in the outer rim regions. The legend of the Altair star was that it was a sentient that held supernatural powers. Whoever went against the will of Altair met their demise without exception. Kurin, now Altair, had become one of the seven Tyros, the leaders of the Black Fangs. At the time, the Black Fangs were interested in spreading their influence through Cinnatar's undercities. It was inevitable that another gang war would erupt, but on a level much higher than what they were used to. To "soften" the pressure, Altair was assigned to assassinate twelve leaders of the Hellions, the gang which was their primary competitor. To avoid leaving traces behind, Tyros Galid, the leader of the seven Tyros, gave Altair a special weapon that had taken several weeks to smuggle to the undercities, a DXR-32 Disruptor Rifle. Altair's happiness was short-lived, as he quickly realized that, despite it being powerful and accurate, it had no scope equipped onto it. Aiming it would be profoundly difficult.

Altair was pressured by the other Tyros to use it regardless of it's shortcomings. Altair, knowing that precision was a fundamental trait when it came to sniping, decided to test it's accuracy against his limited vision. Altair decided to target a Trandoshan of an uprising gang. Altair stationed himself on an elevated position 400 meters from his target. Altair could not even see his target, and relied on a remote he stationed twenty feet away from the Trandoshan. After several minutes of prepping, Altair fired, missing horrendously. The result was a final revelation to Altair and the other Tyros who were informed of the test. The rifle had no slots to equip a sniping scope onto it, making it effectively useless. Still, Altair did not want to abandon such a weapon, and decided to approach the grim situation using a different tact and approach.

Getting the "Eye"

After he had been among the Black Fangs for some time, Altair bought a medical droid that went by the designation TX-17. TX wasn't a simple medical droid, however. He was illegally modified with assassination armaments. TX's five fingers shot poisoned barbs with a droid's pinpoint accuracy. TX-17 also had encrypted information on certain, "helpful" sentients. Altair was searching for an Aqualish tech-merchant named Wongora. Wongora was a well-known buyer of exotic cybernetics, and was equally known as he was expensive. Wongora had a large force of thugs guarding his merchandise, caution when approaching was a necessity, especially if you're not an "approved" buyer. The Black Fang gang were approved buyers to Wongora. Altair entered he building with TX-17, showing his Black Fang tattoo to show he was a VIP of sorts.

Entering without hassle, Altair waited for thirty standard minutes before Wongora appeared. Altair asked to browse his special cybernetics, and noticed an unusual bionic eye. Wongora told him it's properties, 1000 meter plus telescopic, thermographic, infrared and night vision, exactly what Altair was searching for. The Bionic eye cost three quarters of a million credits, a price even Altair, a man who cared little about price, cringed at. Before Altair left with the eye, Wongora stopped him and handed him three capsules with reddish-purple liquid. It was a special painkiller that targets a specific area of the nervous system in the brain. Wongora told him that him to take one every eight to ten hours. Altair handed the capsules to TX and headed back towards the Black Fang's territory.

Altair went to the MedBay, or at least the closest thing the Black Fangs had to a MedBay. It was the area where he usually kept TX-17. They had only six beds, though no one ever used them. Altair laid down on one of the beds as TX strapped him in. He was told by the droid that it would take three days to "install" the eye into his brain network. Altair acknowledged, and was promptly incapacitated with a sedative. The third day came with a feeling Altair would never forget. The moment the sedative wore off, Altair woke up to an excruciating pain in his head. The incoherent screaming and pain-induced seizures came to an equally sudden stop. Exhausted from his brief moment of hysteria, Altair looked over to his left to see TX injecting a reddish-purple liquid into his elbow.

The Ultimate Sniper

Even more astonishing, Altair could not see out of his left eye. Beginning to panicking once again, Altair was quickly calmed down by his droid informing him that the left side of his head was wrapped in bandages. After TX unstrapped his wrists, Altair quickly brought his left hand to his head, and sighed in relief when he felt the cloth around his head. After several hours, Altair began to notice... odd things about his sight. His new "eye", which should see nothing, began to show orangery-red images where people or electronic systems were. It clicked in - what he was seeing was thermogenic images. Altair's Bionic eye was operating. After informing TX, the droid slowly removed his bandages. Altair immediately looked at himself in a mirror, and saw a medium-sized scar intersecting over his left eye socket. But, in his left eye socket, Altair saw a glowing, orange eye.

Although there was limited lighting in the Black Fangs' base, Altair could also see in darkness clear as day - clearer even. Altair had trouble learning how to use his vision in a telescopic fashion, but soon learned with help from TX-17. His Bionic eye was a part of him now, and when he zoomed, it was as if he was stretching his arm, reaching as far out as he could. To recede his vision, Altair simply "pulled" back, just like an arm. Altair didn't waste time testing his new "eye". He intended to practice it on a random person, but quickly changed his mind when he saw the Trandoshan he tried to snipe from several days earlier. At an elevated position 700 meters away, Altair laid on his belly, aiming his DXR-32. With his eye, Altair saw the Trandoshan more clearly than he ever dreamed he could with a scope.

As Altair prepared to fire, a sudden pain, small but rapidly growing, came upon him. I'd been hours since TX had applied the painkiller, and Altair had little doubt what was causing his pain. Growing stronger and stronger, Altair quickly stabbed his leg with a capsule. The pain quickly died, and Altair aimed at the Trandoshan once more. When he fired, his Bionic eye let him see everything, every detail that came with the alien's demise. The moment the supercharged energy beam pierced the Trandoshan's chest, Altair saw the lizard's arms fall, he saw his flesh and bones disintegrate, his body rapidly reduce to ashes blowing away in the winds of Cinnatar. Altair had never seen anything like it. Even from so far away, he saw it so closely, he felt so close. He'd never experienced anything like it.

One Year Past

One year after Altair received his bionic eye, he already become known as the best sniper in Cinnatar's underworld. The assassinations of the rival gang leaders had made the Black Fangs the undisputed leaders of the undercities. As a Tyros, Altair had more power than all but the most important figures on Cinnatar, including many political figures. However, Altair's position soon came to an abrupt end.

Two fellow Tyros planned to assassinate Altair. Discovering the plot several days before it was to commence, Altair confronted both Tyros leaders and killed them immediately. In their world, it was kill or be killed. There was no doubt, no question. You always did what had to be done. However, the Black Fangs' leader put a bounty on Altair's head, believing that he had gone rouge. One of the Tyros was the Black Fangs' leader's adopted son, and his death, by one of his generals no less, boded ill with him. Virtually stripped all power he'd gained over the years, Altair was subject to repetitive assassination attempts, some aspiring bounty hunters, others were members of the Black Fangs. After four months of hiding, Altair took TX-17 and stowed away on a freighter craft.

Unknown to him was that this craft was carrying black market goods. Altair discovered this quickly, though it came as no surprise. Cinnitar was the crime pit of the Core Worlds, overshadowed only by the infestation of Nar Shaddaa in Hutt Space. Smuggling was not just nature - it was the economy. So deep rooted within Cinnitar's system, it had to be maintained for balance. The freighter was piloted by one Human and one Wookiee, both of which never left the cockpit. Altair made his way to the back of the ship, which looked more like a thick, armory door than a cargo hold. After slicing into the lock, Altair walked into the unlit room. The door immediately closed behind him, and a series of lights began to spark on.

Altair gazed in awe at the high-grade weaponry stored on board the freighter. It definitely wasn't a common crime syndicate, it must have been powerful... and especially wealthy. One thing stood out among the rest; a medium-sized metallic vault - with plating thick enough to withstand the explosion of the freighter. It had a sensitive lock feature that Altair hadn't seen on anything short of a military-grade shipments. These locks weren't just difficult to crack, they had lethal defense mechanisms, usually ones that sent a high electrical voltage shocks into whoever was trying to access it. Luckily, TX-17 could see the imprints of those who had previously accessed it, and mimicked the encrypting pattern.

As the vault hissed open, Altair saw a metallic exoskeleton, beautifully designed, and obviously new. On a side panel on the inside, Altair read off a name; Nautilus/Prototype. Everything concerning the suit was inside the vault. Schematics, utilization guidelines, blueprints - everything. As Altair walked towards the open suit, he heard chatter. One was far away, the other was very close, yelling frantically, obviously unnerved about the opened armory. Just like on Cinnitar - either you kill and live, or you hesitate and die. Altair jumped into the opened suit, trying to calm himself as it closed over him. The visor inside was filled with flashing subscreens, checking out system controls and functions.

In seconds, the exoskeleton was fully functional, operating at 82% capacity. It had need of several modifications, but it was more than capable of being used in it's current condition. Altair ordered TX-17 to take the information regarding the Nautilus exoskeleton, and took up his disruptor rifle. As much as he loved his creation, it was unsuitable for close ranged combat, and Altair wasn't sure how durable the exoskeleton was. As Altair took several steps, a very large weapon attracted his eye. It was a gatling gun, build from pure durasteel. Even more impressive, it's ammunition was solely APRs: Armor Piercing Rounds. It was then that Altair found his suit enhanced his strength, the gatling gun felt like a fraction of its true weight.

As the Human and Wookiee stormed in, Altair unleashed a blaze of gatling slugs. Blood sprayed throughout the armory, and Altair wasted no time making his way to the cockpit. However, the controls were on voice-locked autopilot, override was impossible. Glancing over at a nearby Holocam, Altair saw a ship in a hanger. This freighter was obviously much larger than he thought, to have a hanger on it. Taking TX along, Altair made his way to the hanger, and saw the ship up close. It was KOS warship, a military craft. As Altair entered the ship, he took a look at it's identification specs, which identified the ship as the Warlord. Unlike the freighter, the Warlord wasn't locked.

Altair suddenly heard a computerized voice, announcing that the freighter was beginning preparations for the jump to lightspeed. Altair prepped the ship for takeoff, and blew then hanger doors, flying out the freighter just moments before it entered Hyperspace. Altair took a moment to calm down, and decided to study the specs TX-17 had brought. Every secret of the Nautilus was revealed; the Ultrachrome armor, the magnetic hardpoints, the echolocation system... it would take weeks for Altair to fully study his exoskeleton.

Birth of the Assassin

Less than five years passed before Altair began to make his mark on the galaxy as a bounty hunter and killer for hire. Continuing to operate under the guise of "Altair", he became a symbol of terror among the underworld of the galaxy. Taking full advantage of his suit, Altair quickly discovered that his greatest weapon, was in fact his armor. Altair became among the most feared assassins in the known galaxy by the time he turned twenty. He gained infamy by his unbiased viewpoint on his targets, having no qualms about capturing or killing any sentient, regardless of their species. This made his a popular target of hatred towards the more vindictive species in the galaxy, especially the Hutts.

Altair boldly resided in Hutt Space for most of his time awaiting contracts, fully aware of the reception he'd frequently received from the Hutts. He even went to Hutt-controlled cantinas. He never feared the other patrons around the cantinas, they never made a move against him. TX-17 usually accompanied him on his "relaxation" time. He kept his drugs on hand and was able to instantly receive contract transmissions.

One day while Altair was on a crime-infested world in Hutt Space, TX received a transmission to a remote planet in the outer rim. He'd received information to kill a Twi'lek hiding on an unnamed, and only recently discovered, ice world. Tiring of the atmosphere of the Hutts, Altair left early the next day towards the outer rim. Since the world wasn't recorded, he was forced to rely solely on the coordinates from his employer. Knowing the risks involved, he programmed TX-17 to trace their position, so that they'd be able to leave if it was a trap.

The trip lasted several hours, as it's position has to be navigated past a cluster of plasma storms. Upon arrival out of hyperspace, Altair saw the planet from his ship, appearing exactly as his employer told him. A frozen wasteland. Altair couldn't help but wonder why anyone would choose this planet to hide on, especially when there were closer planets that were safer, and could keep one hidden just as well, if not better.

The Glacial Abyss

As Altair landed upon the planet, near it's designated coordinates, he adjusted his suit for the subzero temperatures, but when he opened his loading ramp, he could still feel the hint of cold seeping through the armor's plating. Physically blinded by the blizzard, and technologically blinded by the freezing temperatures, Altair had to rely on his exoskeleton's sonar system to navigate the icy desert. Though he wasn't sure about TX-17's range, he ordered the droid out of the ship and keep it's com-system active on the off chance it would get through the blizzard. After several hours of searching, Altair came upon a compound of alien design. He'd never seen anything like it before, and even it's appearance was far more advanced than anything he'd seen across the galaxy.

As Altair approached the large entrance doors, he deactivated his sonar system and was amazed that the power systems were still active. Altair attempted to communicate back to TX-17, but as he guessed, his signal wouldn't get through. Inside looked like it was something out of a genius' imagination. Everything was obviously of alien design, but it looked impossibly sophisticated, almost extragalactic. Altair put his hands towards the metallic walls and found he could not magnetize to the surface. To be more precise, he magnetic plates could not reach the surface. The entire compound was shielded from the inside out, as if it were an internal fortress, or readily defensive against internal damage.

Whatever the case, Altair senses incited, even implored him to leave. He wasn't superstitious, nor did he believe in the popular energy field known as 'the Force', but even he could tell feel a bad omen coming from the planet. Against his better sense, Altair ventured deeper inside the compound, walking cautiously with every step he took, paying attention to any trap - anything - that looked out of the ordinary. Naturally, this didn't go well, though Altair came upon a a blood trail leading to blood-stains on a door. Altair was battle-hardened, but the sight of blood in the eerie place made his heart jump.

Altair opened the door to find it led back outside into the cold, and more blood, frosted over by the blistering winds. Venturing out, he found two corpses lying in the snow. They'd been preserved by the cold, but it was obvious that they'd been there for many thousands of years. It was like they began decomposing, but then stopped. Altair looked closely at the corpse, but he couldn't recognize what it was. It's skin was pure white, and not just from the frost. It had about nine fingers, and it's shape was the strangest humanoid fashion Altair had ever seen.

Demons of the Arctic

Altair looked up from the corpse and stared out into the frozen land. Something was different. It was difficult, but Altair could see, physically. The weather wasn't untamed like it was when he first left his ship, it was more like the weather was simply "leaking" in. As Altair gazed out, he saw that there weren't only two corpses, there were more. Hundreds of thousands at least. He didn't have to become aware of the situation to know that something must have gone terribly wrong here. As Altair looked up, he noticed a grid-like pattern up above him.

Immediately, Altair activated his sonar system, and discovered that he wasn't outside at all. The entire place was some sort of supermassive dome, almost like a cage made of energy. It's spanned for a radius of at least 8,000 kilometers, though something must have broken. Altair hadn't a clue what he was in, but he figured that the energy dome was allowing the weather in because it was weakening. After Altair turned his sonar system off again, he saw a blue light in the distance. As he took a step to approach it, the light moved elegantly, in a was a creature moved.

In Altair's life, you always shoot first, and he did. Altair prepared to shoot his rifle at the blue light, but he didn't have a heat signature. It then occurred to Altair that the light may have been on a machine of some sort, or worst case, it was some sort of advanced droid. Altair shot, but missed due to blizzard's visibility hindrance. The blue light moved erratically, and made a high pitched squeal. In seconds, Altair saw several blue lights appear in the sky, and strange blue beams shot down towards his position.

Cursing under his breath, Altair ran back towards the door. After running inside, Altair came face to face with an object that emitted the blue light. It was a droid unlike anything he'd ever seen. It had a small tank-like body and four tentacle-like limbs. Altair fired several shots through the droid, dropping it in a matter of seconds. Altair took another glance at the blood-stained door, and realized the trail was actually leading away from the dome, not towards it. Something bad happened here, but Altair didn't care enough to find out.

Making his way back to his ship, Altair was pressed into close range, and fought his way out of the compound. He realized that the Twi'lek target was never there to begin with. Someone knew about the place and lived to tell about it. In all likelihood, he'd been set up. As Altair headed towards his ship, he saw one of the strange droids on top of the Warlord. As he approached with his rifle aimed, his foot hit something metallic. Glancing down, Altair saw a dismembered droid arm, but it didn't belong to one of the mysterious droids. As he slowly gazed up, he saw remains of TX-17 scattered around the ship. The edges were glowing, searing from heat even in the cold.

Altair felt the anger build up, but he never said a word. No grunt, no facial change, even behind his mask. Altair charged his rifle for long range despite being at close. Altair fired the shot through the droid center. The droid dropped to the ground, swaying. It was still active as Altair approached up close. Being at point-blank range, Altair put his heel on the droid, and shot through its cerebral area, destroying it. After picking up the memory banks of TX, Altair got on the Warlord and fired up the engines, flying off-planet. He checked the ship logs and, like he ordered, TX-17 recorded the path they took. Altair plotted a course and left back towards Hutt Space.

Retribution

Altair immediately worked on the memory receiver of TX-17 to check the employer's status. Most believed that receivers were one way, but Altair learned that anything electronic could be traced, given the right equipment. After gathering his belongings in Hutt Space, Altair ventured towards the Inner Rim, and broke into a Republic outpost. After using a EMP overloader, the base was forced to use a backup generator, which on a space compound, primarily supported communications, life support, and minimal security systems. Other systems were given minuscule amounts of power, but it was still enough.

Altair uploaded the transmission from TX-17's memory banks and used the military-grade tracing program to discover it's original transmitting location. When Altair finally saw the results, he found it was in a remote area, no colonies, no planets, not even a station. He wasn't surprised. Tracing could be done by the most well-supplied technologists, so precautions were often used by the more subtle contractors. Altair left the Republic outpost and monitored the empty space for nearly three years. Eventually, he saw a pattern, which led him towards his former employer; a man whose alias was "Otho".

Altair had heard that alias before, but all he knew was that he was a very high-ranking executive in a secretive Bothan intelligence agency. Altair headed towards Bothawui. He didn't know who Otho was, but he did know an underling under him by the name of Sez'es Veqi. Bothawui was a dangerous world for an assassin, even Altair was wary. Though small, the Bothans had a strong web of intelligence. Altair himself didn't doubt his arrival, although discreet, was detected. Altair knew where to find Sez'es. In fact, most on Bothawui did - he was a well known drinker. Altair waited for nightfall, and captured Sez'es during his drunken walk towards his home.

Captured, Altair used a drug to restore him from his drunken state. After a brutal interrogation, Altair not only got the location of the Bothan's intelligence building, he also got the name - the true name - of Otho: Neral I'ganus. Finished, Altair broke the neck of Sez'es. He then made his way towards the central building of the Bothan's intelligence agency. As Altair arrived, he quickly activated his sonar system. Seeing the compound, Altair used his magnetized limbs to scale to the top of the building. Altair used two EMP overloaders to black out an entire section of the city - one for the primary power source, the other for any backup that may escape the first.

Altair was leaving nothing to chance. With the security down, Altair easily infiltrated the building. After searching, he followed one individual until he was alone, and interrogated him into revealing Neral I'ganus' location. After several minutes of mutilation, the Bothan gave in, after which Altair killed him. He then made way towards, to his personal surprise, bottom levels of the embassy. With the security systems still gone, and the building in a mild panic, Altair easily used stealth to make his way to the base levels. Altair then broke into Neral's room and easily slew his lightly armed and armored guards.

Altair slammed his gun into Neral I'ganus' neck, pointing up towards his head, and put his finger on the trigger. Neral hissed, telling Altair that he'd killed his son. Altair mockingly replied that Neral had destroyed his droid, and pulled the trigger, killing Neral instantly. Altair then, out of spite, slew every Bothan he came across in the embassy before taking his leave.

"So...are you interested still?"

It was several months until Altair, who was on his homeworld of Cinnitar, was approached by a masked person who dropped an information datapad into his hand. Before Altair could look behind him, the person vanished. Altair looked at the datapad, which was encrypted, locked to only his eyes. Making his way towards the Warlord, Altair prepared to take off his mask, though to his surprise, the ocular scan phased though his visor. Even more astonishing, it identified his bionic eye as well as his biological eye. Intrigued, Altair had activated the datapad, only to find that it was only a chart of coordinates past known space.

Altair never fell for the same trick twice, and prepared to discard it, but he was highly intrigued at the technology, and even more so at the intelligence of the people who sent it to him. It had been years since Altair had revealed his face, and the last time was in private. Altair loaded up on his weaponry and headed for the coordinates. The moment Altair had loaded the coordinated from the datapad to his ship's log files, the datapad exploded, shattering into pieces. It took Altair nearly a day to arrive at the planet, which looked little more than a tomb-world to him... at least at the time. Altair landed at the location designated, which looked like the ruins of an ancient castle of sorts. As Altair went deeper into the, he saw dozens of figures begin to appear around him due to his echolocation system.

With his rifle attached to his back, Altair would take a risk drawing it. As the figures approached, obviously believing they weren't detected, Altair rapidly fell into his martial art stance and subdues several sentient beings around him. As Altair used the hard ultrachrome on his knuckles to knock out the last close person to him on the ground, he pulled out his rifle and aimed it, not at the fallen sentient, but into the shadows. Curious, but obviously not wanting to risk death on enemy territory, Altair put his gun back onto the magnetic plates on his back. Several figures emerged from the shadows.

The first was a tall being with a piece of headware that was high-crowned and wide-brimmed. He wore a long, dark trench coat and his body, barely visible, looked like it was covered in some sort of wrappings. The most noticeable thing, however, were his glowing eyes, which were brighter than Altair's bionic eye. The second figure figure was suited in a full exoskeleton body armor like Altair himself was. It was different, the armor plating was thicker, and more resembled anatomy parts. He also had a glowing, goggle-like visor, and partial glowing bands, particularly around the waist. When Altair asked why he was asked to come, the one in the exoskeleton simply told him he was invited to accept an offer.

I've updated it a bit. Hopefully I'll be done with it by Wednesday, Friday at the latest.

Not to bad, interested in a job with my faction? Also Nar Shadaa hasn't been found yet and you wouldn't be able to speak mando'a as it's not a language yet either.

Whoops, my bad on the Mando'a! Yea, this is a character I was making for your faction if it gets approved. Also, I though Nar Shaddaa was part of the Republic since 24,500 BBY. Isn't this timeline in 13,000 BBY?

Your approved to join but I can't give you rank till everything gets cleared up with your profile cause I don't know what you would change if Nar Shadaa isn't a usable planet. Once that's in I'll give you rank.

I'm waiting until I hear from Rhea until I go any further on my profile also. Nar Shaddaa can easily be changed to another urban planet (seems like they are all corrupt) but I'd rather not change it unless it really is off limits.

What is it with people who keep wanting disruptor snipers? No offense folks, but this isn't star trek. The two are clearly impossible to combine, as stated here in the wookiee page:

"The blaster gas used to generate the beam underwent a considerably different transformation that formed the disruptor beam. The resultant blast was short-ranged, less cohesive, and extraordinarily powerful; it differed from a standard blaster in that it created an energy wave consisting of disruptive, nonharmonic energy pulses that excited a target's molecules to the point that it destroyed the bonds that held their constituent atoms together, painfully."

The original link can be found here: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Disruptor

Everything else looks pretty good, tho.

Thanks, but you're referring to disruptor weapons in general. Wookieepedia has specifics on rifles.

A disruptor rifle was a vicious and horrible weapon that disintegrated its target. It tore apart its victim at the molecular level, destroying their body tissues and bypassing most sorts of personal energy shields. A disruptor weapon shot a constant beam of energy that would travel in a straight direction until it hit something, so this made disruptors very popular as sniping weapons, and most types of disruptor were manufactured with built in scopes.

Right, except that the only sources for that are video games (only mentioned once elsewhere). While games are good for entertainment, the decimate cannon for the sake of game balance. The biggest issue with disruptors of all kinds is their lack of cohesion. The bolt disintegrates after a couple of meters, making them worthless for long-range. If you read up on the other weapons within that category, the average range for disruptors is less than twenty meters.

The only exceptions to this (such as the DXR-6) are dictated by game mechanics and thus decidedly unusable. In fact, the first appearance of a disruptor rifle was from a game (shadows of the empire). While there feasibly is a means to turn a disruptor into a rifle, it too would share the cohesion problems, thus making it an incredibly inefficient sniping weapon.

I suggest you use a weapon with a less... ambitious background. At least one that isn't disputed or contradictory. The most common snipers in SW are the invisible beam rifles (essentially high-powered lasers instead of a plasma bolt thrower we call blasters >.>), or projectile. There are some blaster snipers as well, but they too tend to be designed and manipulated by game designers. You could also use a concussion rifle (which, interestingly enough, can't be blocked by lightsabers).

Well, games make up at least one third of Expanded Universe, and with the exception of games that are made for sole entertainment (like LEGO Star Wars or something), Lucasarts games actually make up a large bulk of Star Wars' Continuity Canon. I can easily admit though that the main Disruptor article conflicts with the others in some respects.

The primary article says that the weapons are short ranged, yet they are later referred to as popular and effective sniping weapons favored by assassins. Why the rifles don't share their pistol "cousin's" drawbacks, I can only conclude that it's one of Star Wars' many inconsistencies. (ie one place, you'll read that the bolt had very limited range, and elsewhere you'll read that the bolt shot continuously until it hit something solid)

:CAbove:

I don't want to sound stubborn or hardheaded, but I'm going to stay with the Disruptor. I'm not really interested in the projectile sniping rifle for his signature weapon, but looked for the invisible beam rifles. However, the closest thing that I could only find to what you're talking about was BFII's basic sniping rifles. Concussion rifles are a bit out of my character's preference, so I doubt I'm going to arm him with one.

You'll find it in an obscure reference in the X-wing books. I think it was the Wraith Squadron book...

Updated: Added more to his background. His GEAR section received a lot of attention. Added images to all of his gear items, and added the three final weapons to his arsenal. Check out his 34-SST Projectile Rifle: a slugthrower sniping rifle, his O91 "Blackout" EMP Overloader: an EMP bomb that overloads tech instead of disabling (causes more damage), and, my favorite addition, the B-390 Heavy Automatic Chaingun.
