Personality and traits
Overview
Makara is a good-natured and laid back Jedi, prone to jokes, and tolerant with nearly everyone and everything in general lines. He is a more level-headed foil to the brash actions of most others impulsive Padawans and friends of his, always trying to find peaceful resolutions for any problems he might find when such things are possible. He often gives the impression of being goofy and distracted, and its not uncommon for him to space out and forget what he was doing or was going to do at a given moment in every day life. He is always ready to lend his shoulder or give an ear to anyone who needs it.
Apprentinceship and points of view
He strongly believes he is in debt with the Jedi Order for taking him in, and taking care of him since his first memories. He takes this to heart and is always trying to prove himself worthy of all that, to prove that he is dign of the opportunity that was granted to him, seeing it as a rare privilege. Thus, this compels him to try to be an example for everybody, something seemingly hard considering all his other traits, but he is still very capable despite his flaws, and eager to prove it despite all his patience and his usually easy-going demeanor.
Longing and flaws
Makara desires to be accepted, to find a sense of belonging within the Jedi Order, but deep inside, what he really wants is to accept himself as he is, to find a sense of self that is lost when he is always trying to be nice to everyone else, caused by exploits in his personality during his childhood. Negation and dissociation are not uncommon, hiding his own feelings and thoughts out of contempt for everyone else’s feelings or either their thoughts about him. In the latter case of dissociation, it manifests with things such as neglecting the severity of any situation with an overly relaxed personality, something that often makes his friends nervous or angry when they come to him with their concerns, thinking he is not taking them or the situation seriously.
Lightsaber Form
In his passive zeal and wanting to distinguish himself and accomplish a sense of achievement, Makara studied both bladework and the force extensively from the very moment he had a chance to do so. After a long time, with help from the instructors and the academy blademaster, Makara started to develop a lightsaber form of his own, one to suit his own needs and to make up for his own flaws. Althought its still a work in progress, once its done he would be glad to teach it to other Jedis.
He named it Way of the Voxyn or Fluent form:
Under this concept, his so-called form is free from bondage to styles, patterns and doctrines. It combines everything it deems useful, from unnarmed combat to fencing, since one should do whatever necessary to defend oneself (or attack when needed) regardless of where the techniques come from. It does not only advocates the combination of aspects of different styles, but also can change many of those aspects that it adopts to suit the abilities of the practitioner. This way any practitioner is allowed to interpret techniques for themselves, and change them for their own purposes.
The way of the Voxyn is dynamic and it always should be. It is what enables him to adapt to the constant changes and fluctuations of live combat. Believing that these decisions should be done within the context of "real combat" and/or "all out sparring" and that it is only in this environment that a person could actually deem a technique worthy of adoption.
One shouldn't memorize and do solo-practice moves, as most traditional styles do in their beginning-level training. Doing such without an opponent is like attempting to learn to swim on dry land. Circumstances in a fight change from millisecond to millisecond, and thus pre-arranged patterns and techniques are not adequate in dealing with such a changing situation. Combat is alive and dynamic, and this is what the way of the Voxyn displays.
Relationships
Traven Oli, Jedi Padawan: Traven is a human friend of Makara, an acquaintance of him that comes from the days of the academy, and now he is a Padawan.
Introduction
Outside from a handful of people, only a few people know Makara in a personal level, or his story. It is known that he is an orphan who was brought in by a Jedi master. Currently he is a Jedi Knight and is in his middle twenties.
