Warship Oblivion, Planet Mon Cala, Calamari Sector

From above orbital, the former Imperial warship rained salvo after salvo, targeting one of Mon Cala’s surface cities. Standing proud and rigid in the center of the busy command bridge, Admiral Riri Sozen watched the laser cannons continue to fire. Despite what’s happening the self proclaimed Lord Protector displayed nothing but a neutral expression on his face.

Within his soul was deep contempt at the inhabitants below and the galaxy’s situation.

How could the Sith betray the Empire they made?! All the blood shed and sacrifice our military made for them and those cowards abandoned us.

The very thought finally caused Sozen to scowl and his hands clasped together tightened in grip. The forty seven year old officer coming from a well to do family with a long history of active service to the Empire had served the Imperial navy for much of his life. He had obeyed every order the Sith gave without question that included taking part in the Mandalorian genocide.

We should’ve destroyed those helmet worshipping savages years ago. Their very existence is a threat to Order just as those disgusting fish down there are. They all deserve extremation. The Empire will be reborn no matter what it takes.

Soon the bombardment stopped and the warlord heard footsteps behind him. However, Sozen didn’t turn around to see who it was. He didn’t need when his XO spoke up.

“Milord, Dac City is no more and our navel units are hunting down stragglers . Your new orders?”

“Target Coral City next and inform our surface forces to tighten the blockade around it. The less fish escape the better for us.”

The captain from behind saluted and replied. “By your command.”

There was a plan, one with a slim chance of working but one that had to be attempted regardless. The Admiral wouldn't stop until everything he deemed a threat was ground under heel, leading to countless civilians to die at his hands. As a Hero, Omnis couldn't allow that. He'd teamed up with Commander Ion to take the man down and stop the bombardment, yet first they had to get on board. Two men versus a warship and small fleet, it would take a plan with some serious guts to get them through. Luckily, guts were what the two Rebels had in spades. Omnis would fire on a shuttle Hugo had stolen, making him seem like one of the enemy's forces. Fleeing to the flagship for safety, the Commander would sneak in amid the crew and cause havoc with their defense systems, letting Omnis land and then team up to head to the Bridge. A few butts to kick later and they'd redirect the bombardment to a better target. And hopefully punch the Admiral in a very painful spot.

Dare to be a BADASS

"Ready to go, Commander! Let's show these villains what true JUSTICE is!" With a smile as he closed the communication down, Omnis gunned the throttle and began to fire on nearby enemy ships and installations. He would try to hit the Commander's stolen vessel a few times, making shots he knew the man could dodge and force him towards the flagship. It would get quite dicey very quickly, though with the Force flowing through him he'd focus on just barely dodging while being one hell of a nuisance. He knew his ancestor Dennys would find this to be one hell of a fun situation to be in. With that exuberance and his duty held tightly in his heart he went for another strafing run, his IFF turned off so he would be a complete mystery ship for the enemy forces. Hopefully he'd done enough for Hugo to have gotten on board.

Inside the shuttle’s cockpit Hugo twist and turned the spacecraft while pursued. Disguised in an Imperial uniform and masked helmet the Duros muttered. “Keep it up Omnis. I’m counting on ya.”

Admittedly this whole scheme of theirs was insane. Yet Hugo didn’t no alternative other waiting for Alliance reinforcements. But by then more people on Mon Cala will die. That was unacceptable for him.

Squeezing the flight control with renewed determination the rebel general dive the shuttle in a barrel roll as the shields went down. Just as he neared the warlord’s flagship he called in, projecting panic in his voice

“Mayday, mayday this shuttle 1-A I’m under fired here! Sustained heavy damage. I’m making an emergency landing in the hanger don’t shoot.”

There was silence on the other end. The veteran tense up wondering if the former Imps were on to them. Seconds later he received a reply.

“Acknowledged shuttle 1-A. Help is on the way.”

Soon a dozen fighters poured out from the hangar bay. Like an angry swarm of insects they charged toward Omnis while the ship’s defense turrets activated as well. Meanwhile Hugo flew straight inside the bay and landed in an empty space. He was now inside.

Well, THAT was a lot of ships. For a moment Omnis wondered if he'd bitten off more than he could chew. He'd figured the Oblivion would be lightly defended as the rest of the force was off occupying the resistance forces on the planet, yet this was more fighters than expected. Still, when he saw Commander Ion's ship dock successfully, he knew that they were on the right track. He closed his eyes, letting the Force flow through him, and with a grin and sparkle in his eye he hit the afterburners to start evasive maneuvers. If these former Imperials wanted a fight, he'd give them one. IF they could catch him, of course. That would be the big if, for sure. He was a member of Star Squad, after all, and his number thirteen would be their Unlucky Number.

As he wove around the flagship and other useful debris, Omnis swore every time his shields were hit by lucky shots. He needed to give Hugo as much time as he could, though a sudden rocking of his starfighter told him said shields were down and he was taking more bodily damage. And he'd just gotten the paint job on the "Magnum" just right, too. It was Great Great Great Grandpa Dennys' favorite pattern, as though the man had been a Sith he'd led a respectfully free life. Omnis was following his own heart, the thought of that letting him focus again and dodge a pair of missiles coming his way. Giving a whoop he circled around the flagship again, sticking close to the docking bay he would want to use for himself. He couldn't get shot down here, not yet. The mission wasn't done, the Mon Calamari weren't safe yet.

Sighing Hugo finally go of the flight controls. That actually worked. Now time for phase two. Thinking that the Alliance general stood up from his seat and checked his weapons and gear. Honestly the Imperial uniform was a tight fit but manageable and it concealed his identity for the time being.

Activating the shuttle’s ramp Hugo ran down it and behold the sight before him. Throughout the hanger crew personnel were busy preparing for the next wave of fighters to join the dogfight outside.

I don’t have much time. Need to shut down the turrets fast.

Glancing around Hugo finally noted the exit point he was looking for. Just as the uncovered Duros made a step toward it a voice shouted nearby on the side. “Halt!”

Alarmed but trying not to show it Hugo turned around and saw a young dark skinned woman in a lieutenant’s uniform with two guards on each side. Her piercing eyes scrutinized Hugo before her and barked a demand.

“You’re that shuttle pilot that escaped the fighter. What’s your rank and operating number?” She barked, demanding a quick answer.

She’s a little ray of sunshine. Hugo sarcastically thought though he answered fast possible.

“Uh, yes I’m Shuttle Pilot Deji, number CC-2254.”

Raising an eyebrow in suspicion the lieutenant then noted.

“You sound strange there Pilot. Where do you think you’re going?”

Knowing the next answer was a matter of life and death Hugo stood at attention.

“I was going to find a spare fighter and hunt that bastard that shot at me.” Hugo repiled, letting his voice rise in anger to make the performance more believable.

The former Imp paused before shaking her head. “That won’t be necessary. I admire your devotion to duty but you’re coming with us to be questioned.”

Looking at the trio in front of him Hugo had to suppress a curse from coming out. He can’t start fighting here. Too many hostiles, have to wait till we’re alone. Hold on a little bit longer Omnis. Now flanked by the two guards and the officer in front Hugo marched with them out to the nearest exit.

Another hit, another shower of sparks as the fighters chasing him really seemed to step up their game. Omnis would have been impressed if his life wasn't on the line. He had to come up with an idea, and quick, if he was going to live to the next part of the mission, or in general. Perhaps he had to pull off a crazy move of some kind. The flagship had to be dropping it's shields in order to fire it's turbolasers for the orbital bombardment...if he could time it right, he could probably slip a strike through and hit the ship itself. The debris or panic could give him some breathing room, or perhaps not. To be honest, it was more of the thinking that if he was going down, he'd cause what damage he could before he did. So with that, he turned and flew straight at the hangar Hugo had landed in as a basis for his attack.

He didn't know how to calculate the exact timing and he didn't have a partner in the fighter to do it for him, so instead he opened himself up to the Force. He trusted in it and the BADASS to tell him when to pull the trigger, everything slowing down around him as he waited for that impulse. After what felt like an eternity he felt that twinge through his very being. He pulled the trigger, watching the torpedoes fly through space and slam into the side of the ship with spectacular effect. Anyone inside would know what had happened and hopefully would panic and focus on damage control, giving him and maybe even the Commander some more chances to perform their two-man assault. Man, if this succeeded this would go down in the history books as perhaps the stupidest and luckiest plan ever. It was such a rush to be here, Omnis wouldn't have it any other way.

Marching under escort inside the hallway Hugo considered his options. I can take out one or two of these goons but the last one will get a lucky shot in. The other option is getting an imperial style ‘interview’. Oh the possibilities. The uncover rebel had to suppress a sigh or else make himself suspicious.

Leading in front the lieutenant commented. “Won’t be long now shuttle pilot. Just a routine questioning and this will all be behind us.” The officer’s tone made it clear to Hugo that she enjoyed that line of work.

Just as they turned the corridor alone when the entire ship rocked. All the ex Imps cried out in shock and their charge grunted as he hit the wall with the left shoulder. However, seeing the three hostiles dazed Hugo immediately pulled out his hidden pistol.

Firing the first shot it struck the guard in the head while on his knees. Swifty the rebel aimed the gun toward the one leaning on the corridor blasting him in the back. The lady officer seeing the whole thing subsequently reached for her own weapon. She was able to fire one bolt toward Hugo who narrowly dodged it to the side and shot back.

The laser bolt hit the lieutenant in the center mass leaving a smoking hole as she dropped sideways dead. Panting Hugo whispered through the helemt. “You should’ve checked me for weapons first dumbass.”

Sending a beeping signal to Omnis from his comlink he quickly pulled out the veteran then made a sprint away from the newly corpses.

There, the signal! Hugo was okay and had done his part of the infiltration so far. Omnis gave a pleased whoop as he swung his ship around, firing at his chosen docking bay to clear it of the oncoming ship about to launch. He slowed down just enough to touch down, yet with enough momentum to pop the hatch and leap from his seat into action. Using the Force to control his landing he pulled out his blaster and spun around, firing on anyone about to attack him but letting those afraid to run away. He wasn't a wanton murderer, after all. The surprise of his entrance had given him enough surprise to clear the hangar, though he knew it would be soon for reinforcements to arrive. He had an Admiral to punch before then.

Before he left, Omnis took the commlink and datapad from someone who looked like an important officer. His intuition correct, the commlink had the codes to open the turbolift doors to allow him to quickly leave the hangar before more enemies could arrive. As the lift moved towards the bridge, the Jedi took off his flight suit to let his costume show, cape and all. He was Potencia, after all! The potential for anyone to make the impossible possible and to chase their dreams and change the world. He would show Mon Cala just that as he saved them from the rain of death falling even as he spoke. He could feel the Force flow around him as he let his other side come out, a grin on his face as he flexed his muscles. Oh, he was SO going to punch that Admiral in the crotch.

The general still in his disguise managed to pass armed patrols and hurried crew members, heading for his destinations. From the ship’s comms Hugo heard the alert for Omnis’ forced entry onto the ship. Still masked he smiled at the news but kept on going. Soon that expression turned into a grimace

We need to cut off the head soon or else the sleemos will be in range of their target. Ion’s steps quickened as he finally reached one of the turbolift.

Once inside he closed the door behind and the ascend began. He signaled Omnis again letting the Jedi know of his current progress. Once the former messaged back Hugo checked the blaster pistol and the other gear. Despite having a Jedi for an ally the rebel veteran was well aware of the staggering odds they still faced.

Taking off the imperial helmet and dropping it Hugo took a deep breath and sighed. He had lived a hard life, seeing much death and suffering. Yet there had been wonderful moments as well reminding him that life was worth fighting for. Closing both eyes Hugo remembered his parents, Eli Reach and all the other rebels and Jedi he had the honor of serving alongside.

A new smile came to him when his thoughts turned to Shii, his lover. She deserves someone better. Yet she chose me all the same. The time we have spent together are more than I could ever hope for.

Squeezing the blaster pistol with newfound determination Hugo then felt the turbolift stopped and soon the door slide opened...

As luck would have it, the doors opened to the turbolift at the same time the ones for Hugo opened, the two men stepping out at the same time. The bridge crew and Admiral Sozen were paying attention to their stations and the viewport respectively. The Jedi could see the death raining down onto Mon Cala, wincing with each lance of light that snuffed out another group of lives, all innocent and all causing him pain through his connection to the Force. Part of him wanted to rage, to just go wild and stop all of these people with his bare fists, yet he knew that was wrong. That was the path to the Dark Side, meaning if he did that he would be no better than all these men destroying a peaceful rebellion. It was this realization that filled him with determination, his duty overriding the feelings of anger and hatred that had started to well up beneath him. No, what these people needed wasn't an avenger or a murderer. They needed a Hero!

To Be a Hero

"SOZEN!" Omnis took another few steps forward as the Admiral and others turned to look at him, surprise clearly on their faces. With a flick of his wrist he let his jacket fall away, revealing the superhero costume he had worn during his time with his family's theater. It had been there that he had made his decision to help people, no matter who they were, and that he would be a symbol for those too scared to reach into themselves to be the people he knew they could be. "Your destruction and thirst for power end HERE! Do you know how many you've killed? How many you've maimed, taken family from, left alone to survive in the cruel world you intend!?" This was mainly all to be a distraction to allow Hugo to change the direction of the cannons to the formerly Imperial forces, men and women who had willingly gone along with the genocide. While he lamented their deaths, taking them out would prevent a far greater tragedy.

"Who in the hells are you? Lieutenant, contact security and deal with this miscreant!" The Admiral had a look of annoyance on his face, perhaps still incredulous that anyone would even be trying to stop him. With one smooth motion Omnis turned, bringing his purple crossguard lightsaber to bear and activating it. He slashed at the control panels to the turbolifts, knocking them out of commission with a single spinning throw before the blade's hilt returned to his hand. That sight made Sozen's eyes go wide, backing away from the Jedi and towards the viewport. "J-Jedi!?"

"Not just any Jedi, Sozen! I. AM. OMNIS!" The man made a pose, waves of the Force flowing off of him to give a kind of shining aura, startling all of the former Imperials on the bridge. None knew the name, yet were cowed nonetheless. "I am the potential for everyone in the galaxy to be their best self! The determination to pick yourself up on your worst day and still be the person you want to be! Even for vile oppressors like you, the Mon Calamari people wish for freedom and bend their combined will towards that noble goal! Their desire has summoned me to put an end to you and your rain of destruction! PREPARE YOURSELF, FOR I WILL ENGRAVE THIS PUNCH ONTO YOUR VERY SOUL!!!"

TinyObviousBarbet-size_restricted.gif

Omnis poured everything he had into his fist, lightsaber deactivated and at his belt just before he started to rush forward. Sozen grabbed at his blaster, the holster having a cover that he rarely needed to undo. Those precious seconds taken to remove the clip and draw the weapon were what sealed his fate, the stronger and more fit Jedi closing the distance with Force-enhanced speed, His eyes glowed with his will and desire, not to harm anyone but to save those being harmed. He channeled the power of the Force and the BADASS into his fist, crying out as he punched with all of his might. "MON CALA MASSACRE!"

The punch connected right in the Admiral's crotch, the blow having been meant for his stomach but the man having been just sprightly enough to try to dodge backwards. Whether that had worked out better for him or not, though, was debatable. The full force of the Force-powered punch pulverized that part of the Admiral's body, sending shockwaves that broke his pelvis and nearby bones. Most spectacular of all, though, was how fast the man flew backwards into the viewport of the ship's bridge. A small crack appeared on the interior of the transparisteel, the room silent as the crew watched aghast at their leader's partially shattered and now impotent body, who was still alive to give a pitiful moan of pain, slowly slide down to the lower crew pit. Blinking at the turn of events, Omnis decided against speaking further at the moment. The scene said enough. Hopefully Commander Ion was doing well in his own task.

Taking advantage of Omnis’ diversion Hugo rushed forward to the gun controls. “Get on the ground now!” The Duros shouted at the crew personnel who just witnessed the Jedi punched their commander’s manhood to oblivion fearfully complied;

Without hesitation Hugo began resetting the guns to target the former Imperial naval forces surrounding Coral City below. Soon salvo after salvo began to rain down the besiegers. Death and panic consumed the enemy Mon Cala’s waters.

Smiling at their success the rebel general looked back at the Jedi. “We did it.” Suddenly a blaster bolt by the kneeing lieutenant struck Hugo in the left side, causing the Duros to cry in pain. Twisting around the rebel quickly shot back at the hostile’s head killing him instantly. The rest of the crew stayed down losing the will to fight and lacking firearms.

Gritting his teeth as the burning agony set in Hugo noticed that the dead Imp holding a commlink beeping. Alarmed the Durosian realized that the officer just called in security and they be here any moment. If that happens everything they did just will be for nothing. Perhaps Omnis could survive but more Mon Cala could die the controls were retaken.

Refusing to accept such an outcome Hugo forced himself to remain standing with grunt and issued a final command to his ally. “Keep these Imps down Omnis, that’s an order. Our reinforcements will arrive out of hyperspace soon.”

Turning to the human he added with a pained smile “The force will be with you always.” Saying that Hugo using every bit of his remaining adrenaline rushed toward the two turolifts at the back of the bridge. Already one of the elevators opened, revealing a squad of armed security inside.

The guards in the turolift spotted him and opened fired on the Duros. Their bolts cut into the general’s body as he rushed them. As he began to drop Hugo shouted out in one word. “FREEDOM!” Subsequently with his remaining strength the resistance veteran tossed a frag grenade he held in the right hand and already primed.

Much to the horror of the security detail the sphere flew down into their midst trapped in that confined space. It exploded shredding and killing them all in the turolfit. As it happened the Duros rebel collapsed face first onto the floor. His body broken Hugo could only managed to look and see what happened. Breathing a sigh of relief he thought.

I’m sorry Shii, so sorry. You’ve curse and mourn me for this but you will live on and build yourself a future and for others. We will be together one day.

With tears flooding his red eyes Hugo Ion closed them both. For a moment the Duros saw a great light and figures coming toward him. On the left was his parents in their prime, his Sullustan best friend Duxi on the right side, still a teenager and in the center was the Jedi Master Eli Reach. All of them smiled and the Jedi said.

“You finally made it my old friend.”

Eyes still shut and tearing Hugo grinned and breathed his last. Few minutes later an Alliance strike force came out of lightspeed. They sent boarding parties secured the rest of the enemy flagship whose crew without their leader surrendered. Mon Cala was spared from further genocide.
