It is also intended, unlike it's big brother, the R5, to be sold in the civilian market, to bodyguards, bounty hunters, law enforcement and other security specialists.
Description: When Mandal Arms designed the Mandal R5 blaster rifle, they also designed a little brother in the form of the Mandal P5. Together the two form the Mandal Arms Mark 5 Weapon System. The P5 is a lightweight specialized service pistol designed as a backup weapon to complement the R5, and intended to serve as a standardized sidearm for the Mandalorian military. The weapon was designed with two specific goals in mind, aside from the obvious of being a powerful handgun with enough stopping power to be useful in the mission spectrum a Mandalorian soldier may face.
These two goals were its capability as a stealth weapon, and it's ability to be used as a PDW. The first was accomplished by designing a noise reducer to be attachable to the barrel of the blaster pistol, greatly reducing any noise generated by the weapon. The second goal was accomplished by allowing the weapon through the replacement of a single internal part, addition of an extended barrel and if necessary a forward handgrip, to be turned into a fully automatic personal defense weapon. A laser-aiming module was also attachable under the barrel, and came as standard equipment on many of the P5's produced for the Mandalorian military.
The result was a highly effective short-to-medium range backup weapon. It has become popular for its comfortable design, its versatility and its reliability among Mandalorian soldiers, and has been field trialled by Mandalorian covert operations units who have given positive responses especially in regard to the stealth and sneaking applications of the weapon.
