Affiliation: Mandalorian Underground and Mandalorian Clans
Ownership: N/A
Intent: To update excisting Mandalorian Armor with newer technology and improve combat by Mandalorians overall
Model: Mandalorian 'Vagabond' Combat Armor
Weight: 50kg , Feels like 27kg with the powered suit
Composition: Malleable Gel between two Matrix layers with a coating of plasteel.
Rating: Armor is rated against light and holdout blasters and can stand strong under fire. Armor will buckle under continuous fire by medium blasters. Armor will only stand up to several heavy blaster shots before failing. Can take maybe one blaster cannon shot, crippling the armor but saving the wearer from death. Rated completely against small calibre projectiles. Can deflect medium calibre projectiles easily and will only buckle under continuous fire. Can deflect a good deal of heavy calibre projectiles before buckling. Missiles will destroy the armor completely. Smaller explosions won't do much to the armor while large ones will crumple the armor inward. Rated against EMP blasts.
Description: The 'Vagabond' Armor system is a mixture of the traditional Mandalorian Beskar'gam and newer design techniques. The entire suit is built on a Semi-Powered undersuit. The undersuit takes most of the weight off of the user while the design of the armor itself allows for a good range of movement while not being as comfortable or easy to move as some other arnors, as well as decreasing the user's movement noticeably. The undersuit does not offer the wearer any additional strength. This is necessary due to the heavy weight of the Matrix metal. However, this makes for some incredibly strong armor. The undersuit is also equipped with small plasteel plates which can help absorb damage when the main armor is crippled or damage is taken between the plating. This gives the armor incredibly good full body protection.
The armor uses the traditional Mandalorian designs with several updates. The chest plating is partially updated, using several layered plates for the breaspiece and segmented plating for the stomach piece. The armor is composed of two thin plates of Matrix metal on either side of a semi-maleable gel sealed inside that allows the armor to take damage through one layer with the shock being absorbed by the gel, and another layer behind it to both protect the wearer and further absorb impact. A thin plasteel coating is added on top of the plates to help absorb laser damage. However, depending on the damage taken by a plate, that specific piece might require a patch or replacement due to cracks in the armor and the risk of failure if unchecked.
The T-Visor has been slanted slightly and narowed to still allow a great area of vision while limiting the target the visor presents. The helmet incorporates the 360 degree view present in earlier models, as well as an advanced H.U.D and sensor package. The H.U.D. allows the wearer to mark targets to fellow mandalorians, link to holonet relays and identify weak spots in enemy formations and vehicles, gives up to date information on the wearer and mandalorians in the area, as well as providing a framework for which mandalorians can integrate weapons into the armor, amongst other features like sensors, communications, and various viewing settings like EM, Nightvision, and thermals.
The entire suit is sealed against vacume. Both an enhanced filtration system and expanded emergency air supply located in a dedicated tube mounted on a flexible armor piece on the bottom of the back piece. The suit has a host of survivability features. The undersuit is insulated with a small heating and cooling unit housed near the oxygen reserve and powered by a small generator that powers both it and the armor. There is a water filtration system for prolongued periods without water. Fluids urinated out are filtered into drinkable water that can be consumed through a small extendable tube in the helmet, although this is not advised for long durations and the filter must be replaced after extended use. There are small pouches sized for field rations on the side of the suit's waist.
The armor plating is easy to customize and modify. The only piece needed to secure the suit's seal is the helmet, and even that can be modified as long as it doesn't break the seal at the bottom. All the armor can be modified to fit the needs of the Mandalorian.
Pros and Cons:
P- Rated highly against all small arms.
P- Gives the wearer full body protection.
P- Capable of taking a blaster cannon and keeping the user alive.
P- Capable of sustaining long term operations without external food or water.
C- Heavy even with the weight suit.
C- Cumbersome and reduces agility.
C- Requires frequent checks of water filtration to maintain it's effectiveness.
C- Less easy to modify than modular armor.
