DESCRIPTION
Constructed as a complement to the Star Defender after the Siege of Manaan, the Defiance is intended to be the heavy hitter to the MC200's bulwark. Built for raw firepower, the ship falls apart in some areas compared to its more defense minded cousin, but makes up for it in the amount of fire it can bring to bear. The ship features a great many heavy turbolaser cannons, not bothering with any special variants, or fancy super powered designs. It features a much more advance sensor and targeting system, furthering the ability of its lighter armament to deal with swarms of fighters, though it doesn't bother with pointless close in systems, instead sticking with a lot more tried and true heavy gun designs to take out the heavily armored Imperium designs. The Defiance makes use of a Mon Calamari deflector shield arrangement with a large amount of smaller generators inside the vessel as opposed to the standard, allowing for a redundant system to be easily installed, and making it harder to disable the generators in the first place. Though somewhat lighter than the Star Defender, it still provides more than adequate defenses to let the destroyer slug it out.

For the most part, the ship is simplicity incarnate. Learning from the lessons of the Siege of Manaan, it was designed under the belief that any new assault would force the Manaan peoples to make heavy use of fewer designs going up again a more numerous foe. This would in turn put great strain on the shipyards again, diverting resources away from building new vessels, to repairing those taking part in the defense. Thus the Defiance was designed to have a very quick turn around time in repair work, and even without support services, the ship is well equipped to deal with ion cannon fire that it might come up against. Damage control teams are specially outfitted with gear to replace damage to systems caused by ion fire, and the ship features a number of independent power supplies to ensure that things like gravity and life support stay on to allow them to do their work quickly, and unencumbered.

INTENT

Is there any other rule than the Rule of Cool? Anyway, this piece of art is intended to represent the Rebellion's accomplishment at Manaan and to justify fighting the Imperium on a more-even footing. Still not even at all, but...better. I mean, it's shit wall-to-wall, but it's better.

Hmm, the amount of weapons seems more suited to a Battlecruiser, tbh.
