Ivy_Blade_I_by_Metatron87-600x726.jpg

Affiliation: Nightsisters

Ownership: Xakoxa Kotaku

Intent: This weapon will be used as the primary mid-ranged weapon of Xakoxa Kotaku in his role as Nightfather. Providing its segmented blade, it has the ability to stretch far beyond the reach of a normal sword or most pole-arms, allowing for quick slices and jabs at extended range at the price of exposing the vulnerable segments.

Model: Nightsister Reticulated Blade

Type: Melee Weapon. Specifically a sword-whip hybrid.

Size: 2ft when constructed.

Composition: The blade is composed of ultrachrome with a vibro-generator in each segment, allowing it to still function and combat a lightsaber should it be separated. The segments are attached with a duralastic thread that allows when stretched to its capacity, the blade to maximize its reach fivefold. While the ultrachrome segments can withstand blaster as well as lightsaber abuse, the duralastic chords will snap when in contact with any energy based material such as a lightsaber or blaster bolt.

Range: Constricted blade is 2ft long. at full extension the effective blade length is 10ft.

Description: The Acklay Coil is a purpose constructed edged weapon developed by Xakoxa Kotaku in the mountains of Dathomir. Formed out of ten individual ultrachrome segments (counting hilt and tip) that contain a vibro-generator in each. This allows the blade to maintain its functional resistance to lightsabers, even while it has been damaged or separated. Possessing a double edge and a thick steel construction, when in the hands of a skilled practitioner, the blade can be extended and ensnare an object or individual/creature within the segments, while the blades digs into the material or flesh and the duralastic constricts further tightening around the intended target. While in solid-sword form, the weapon measures 2 feet in length and can be stored comfortably in a sheath on ones person or on a mount. When extended it has a maximum potential of 10 feet extension, however this comes at the price of exposing the vulnerable duralastic segments to a worthy rival who may take advantage of the opportunity and sever the weapon, cutting its range down by 2 feet per lost segment. The blade can be both left idle in "whip form" and sword form, given the preference of the user. The pommel of the grip can be rotated a quarter turn in either direction to suit the wielders need, allowing the segments to slacken and become whip-like. A simple reversing twist can retract the segments and piece the weapon back together in its solid sword state.

Sorry to disabuse you of your illusions, but durasteel can't stand up to lightsabers at all. And it'd be severely dented and warped by most blaster rifles and heavier weapons. A lightsaber would slice straight through a regular durasteel blade like that, and leave you looking rather silly. Or dead.

If you want it to withstand lightsabers, you need to pick a lightsaber resistant material (not beskar), like ultrachrome or something like that.

Make note, out of that list, Songsteel is exceptionally rare, expensive, and difficult to work with, and only master metalurgists/weaponsmiths would really be capable of working with it. Which would make it rather tricky for a Nightsister on the very isolated, primitive, and poor world of Dathomir to own a weapon made from the metal.

Beskar is very limited, and as far as I'm aware, only Mandalorians are allowed a very limited amount of it, and Imperials are allowed a very small amount too, pending Faction Leadership approval, IF I remember the Admins correctly.

Other than that, that list is a good guide.
