In a world where mighty superheroes like Captain Awesome, Birdman, and Master Unusual do battle with dastardly villains like Buzzkill, Electroid the Angry, and Doctor Cerebro for the very fate of the world, there's a lot of smaller, everyday struggles that sort of get set off to the side. Enter the Midwest Marvels- a franchised branch of the World Justice Society and the designated guardian of the American flyover states that more well known and powerful heroes and villains... well, literally fly over. Saving Nebraska from a marauding band of intergalactic space-locusts or defeating a sort-of-supervillain's plans to conquer Milwaukee might not be a glamorous job, but somebody's gotta do it.The Midwest Marvels aren't the greatest heroes the world has ever seen, but they're the best the people of the middle of nowhere can do.
Using the super simple Risus gaming system you'll create a campy superhero of your own (I'm open to practically anything you want to make up- age, gender, species, powers) and then choose the clichés that form your characters strengths and abilities. This could be anything from Amateur Speedster, Homegrown Gadget Maker, Mystic Spellslinger, or Alien Warrior- whatever those mean. Clichés are limited only by your imagination (and some small degree of reason) and a well rounded team may be crucial to success against the forces of evil!
In this RP, the players would form a band of small town superheroes and face down some major existential threats in a campy comic-style one shot reminiscent of the best of the silver age. There's strong influences from things like New Warriors, Teen Titans, and a lighthearted X-Force-- misfit superheroes who don't quiet hold down a franchise on their own, and allow for a little slice of life drama in between panels. It's a freewheeling, casual, forum based superhero RP (with a splash of dice for fun and randomness) ripe with potential for wild action, tense moments, and bouts of hilarity (especially if those dice go south). It will rip and riff from all the classic comic books sources, but isn't locked down by any particular universe and associated baggage, and a lot of it will be worked up on the fly. It can be both lighthearted and serious, or whatever else the team wants it to be. This is a general interest check, and all the finer points can be switched up and adjusted as needed, and I'll work up a character sheet outline.
Who's up for it?

Real Name(s): Am'un Rao / Carl
Bio: When the mighty alien warrior Am'un Rao crashed landed on Earth, mortally wounded by his age old nemesis the Red Freak, he used the last of his strength to transfer his consciousness and powers into the body of the nearest living capable of carrying on his mission of defending the Galaxy against evil. Unfortunately, the nearest such creature to his crash site in rural South Dakota was a North American Tree Squirrel named Carl. With Carl's furry little body and Am'un Rao's supernatural alien abilities, the unlikely pair have been forced to work together, defending the Midwest against galactic threats whenever they're not hoarding food for the winter. Neither are particularly happy with the arrangement.
