My coffee pot exploded!?!

After supper I was walking out of the kitchen when I decided to pick up the phone to call a friend. So phone in hand I turn around and lightly tap my coffee pot with my left hand and KABOOM!!! Glass and coffee everywhere. WTF? Now my fingers are bleeding from tiny cuts after the clean up.
Guess I'm just lucky the coffee wasn't hot.
