All these people posting their siggies and artwork inspired me to try my hand at photoshop. Now I'm already great with pencil-and-paper, but photoshop requires more than that. Still, for a first try at digital lineart (and, not to mention, I am almost completely oblivious to the tricks and shortcuts of the program), I'm fairly happy. May I present you the pencil-and-pen version:

as opposed to the colored version:

It's kind of a grainy thing I had going on, partially because it looks cool, but mostly because it just turned out like that.

Does anybody who knows the ins-and-outs of the program have any tips, or at least a link to a place that does? Post your comments, both about this and about the art itself, here please.

If you're interested in seeing more of my pen-and-paper art, I have handmade artwork for every character on my profile except for Sel's.

What you want to do is either rebuild the image in Illustrator after scanning it or grab some tracing paper and redraw all the essential lines in a much more clean manner before colouring. All that scratchy sketchiness detracts from the quality of the images themselves.

The feet look a bit small, but otherwise everything seems to look good. The stances are good too, very natural looking.

Also, I've heard a program called Corel Painter is pretty good for emulating real materials. A lot of people use it for colouring. I've got it at the moment, but I haven't got anything to try t out with at the moment, so I haven't bothered trying it out yet

Thanks, I'll bear all that in mind in my future uploads.

I have Photoshop, but I don't see myself getting other advanced digital art programs in the near future.

I think the sketchiness is kinda cool...
