Nedaens

Name: Nedaen

Biology: A subterranean species, that developed with a single hivemind, their queen. They individually are not very intelligent limited to what their hivemind either reveals to them. Biologically the Nedaens are extremely strong and durable this is due to their tunneling nature.

Subspecies: No they didn't evolve from a main species.

Sentience: Semi-sentient

Strengths: Nedaens evolved an interesting natural defenses, these included:
Energy/Heat Resistant Exoskeleton:
Due the subterranean dwellings the Nedaen were exposed to extreme heat from the planets core magma. This developed a thickened exoskeleton that is resistant to heat and energy weaponry.

Extreme Strength:
Due to their tunneling specialization, each Nedaen have the ability to move large boulders alone, rip a man to pieces with their bare claws.

Speed:
The Nedaen have an extremely rapid pace, this is due to their constant need to dig deeper and further their queens will.

Corrosive Saliva:
When encountering something too large to move the Nedaens would utilize a corrosive saliva that is known to burn through most alloys known to sentient beings.
Weaknesses:
Unswaveringly Loyal:
The Nedaens are unable to defy their hiveminds will, they seek to further her will.

Sensitive to Light:
Due to the subterranean lifestyle the Nedaens evolved eyesight to pierce through darkness, this means the Nedaens are easily blinded by the any and all light.

Soft Underbellies:
Unlike most their exoskeleton the underbellies of the Nedaens are soft and covered trillions of nerve endings, they are sensitive to touch and the underbelly is believed to be a sexual stimulant for these creatures.

Diet: Omnivorous, the Nedaens will eat anything.

Behavior/Temperament:
The Nedaens are aggressive towards all outsiders, they do not attempt to find peaceable solutions they just seek to eradicate the "interlopers"
Communication: The Nedaens communicate through both pheromones paired with a high pitch chittering noise made when they scrape their mandibles together.

Planet: Nedan

Culture: The Nedaens worship their hivemind as a deity, they seek to expand her empire and extend her influence across Nedan.
Technology: The Nedaens are capable of using their surroundings to set traps and forge kenetic weapons, however they as a whole are not capable of intergalactic expansion, that is unless their hivemind comes into contact with a being who understands space travel.

History: The Nedaens before the birth of their queen were a simple race of tunneling insectoids, that arguably were not even sentient. However due to prolonged exposure to the Nedanian radioactive core, a single egg hatched that was beyond semi-sentient and was capable of connecting the various hives of Nedaens together to forge a subterranean empire.

After centuries, and several more hiveminds (each queen lays a new hivemind at the end of their natural lifecycle. [Approximately 100 Galactic Standard Years]) The current hivemind decided to emerge with her forces and spread her influence to the surface, a short war would ensue between her race and a wasplike race.

The Nedaens easily crushed the opposing race who lacked the unity and intellect of the Nedaens and they began to enslave the remainder of that species before domesticing the wild populous of Nedan. Thus began The Nedaen Empire on Nedan.
