Prospero enjoys playing an asshat too much to be a good Admin.

Edited for greater accuracy. You also forgot the trolling. But I suppose one is contained in the other. There are other reasons. I love my man Sin of the anticapitalism and Francophone irredentism brigade, but he's got it backwards. Any of the newbies would do a better job than me.

Don't feel bad. That's how most exchanges with me end.

Also, Doomsday, when are you changing your honorific to 'Ser?' The 'Sir' is a bit jarring.

The burden of all swrp's dipshits is on you again, Nexus.

May the gods have mercy on your soul.

Welcome back Nexus.
You should change that ‘Sir’ to Ser now that you have admin powers.

Don’t be a douche. This has nothing to do with choosing a new staff member in general. It’s not like we were actively seeking a new admin and chose Nexus instead of someone else. We wanted to bring Nexus back, and we did. It’s not anymore interesting than that. Had he said no, there was no second choice. We wouldn't have found someone else because we weren't looking for anyone else.

Definitely not SIN. No one can fill his void- if he becomes an admin again.

It wasn't "no second choice" in terms of "there's no one else qualified." It was "no second choice" in terms of we were only asking Nexus. We weren't just hiring any old administrator and decided to go with Nexus. This offer began and ended with Nexus.

I'd only offer an invitation to the staff again if Brandon is forced to resign and leave this site for good.

I still remember when I was on the site. I seemed to have had a skewed view of the admins. Matt was the British jerk. Bac was a peacekeeper with a god complex. Lavi was like Waldo. And then there were SIN and Sir Doomsday, whom many people described to me as the mean scary people you don't want to mess with.

Sounds about right.

Only reason I didn't get fired was 'cuss SIN was worse.

This is the first time I've heard Lavi and Waldo in the same sentence.

Back then it seemed like you were barely on. It was always a surprise when your name showed up.

Definitely not SIN. No one can fill his void- if he becomes an admin again.

You’re misunderstanding what I’m saying. Let me give you a recap. Up until last September or so, Nexus had been an admin on this site. He was an admin for a numbers of years, and he did a hell of a job at it. His insight was always good, and he could be very honest when he wanted to—bluntly so at times. Never one to just roll over and change his justifiable opinions because I said I disagreed, Nexus always brought those valuable insights and was always a good springboard to bounce ideas off of.

Additionally, Nexus was always someone who was able to be a fair and informed arbiter of RP disputes. He kept up to speed on the RP when he needed to, and he made sure he heard all sides of a disagreement and got all of the facts he needed to get and could get before rendering a decision. Even if you didn’t like the decision, you could at least respect it because you didn’t think Nexus was doing it because he held a grudge or a bias.

So over the last few weeks and months, Nexus had become increasingly active again. That was good, I was happy to see that. I started to think about whether he was someone who could become an admin again. I kept that thought on ice a bit, because I wanted to see if he kept up that level of activity. When he did, I asked Nexus if he was interested, and he said yes. I then asked the other admins via PM, and, after a few hours, they got back to me. The response was a unanimous yes, and I officially gave Nexus the offer. That’s when I set him as an admin again.

Now that I’ve said it like that, you can see that there weren’t any other candidates. It wasn’t “no second choice” in terms of “there’s no one else qualified.” There are other people on this site who could become admins if we were going to replace an administrator or if we just wanted to add additional ones, depending on our needs at that time. It was “no second choice” in terms of the fact that we were only asking Nexus. We weren’t just hiring any administrator and decided to go with Nexus instead of someone else. This offer began and ended with Nexus.
