NAME: Nezahualcoyotl aka "Nez"
FACTION: Jedi Order
RANK: Knight
SPECIES: Near-Human
AGE: 17
GENDER: Male
FORCE SENSITIVE: Positive

APPEARANCE: Nez is relatively short for his age and is often considered younger than he really is because of it. Though not particularly muscular, he has build up lean and defined muscle thanks to his years training under the Jedi Order. Tanned and olive skinned with dark hair. His stare has been often labeled "intense".

ATTRIBUTES: Nez' original study in the Jedi was the role of Consular in trying to find a deeper understanding of the Force and it's applications. Though he took his studies in the Force and meditations quite seriously, he didn't really like the overly scholarly approach in learning or behaving as a Consular, and enjoyed experiencing things, rather than just reading countless articles and watching holovids of the old Masters talk about boring subjects with no real applications for a young and eager Jedi student.

As a Padawan, his Master however made him reconsider by focusing on the Sentinel path of the Jedi, thinking it suited Nez' personality much better. Though Nez was originally reluctant, he realized his path wouldn't be behind walls, or inside libraries - it would be out in the Galaxy. As a result of this, he has recently begun taking his physical regimen more seriously, though he still rather enjoys the solitude and peace of mind that meditation seems to bring him as well.

Nez is tenacious, willful and not as strong as he'd like to be. That being said, he is always constantly pushing himself to be better whenever stopped by an obstacle, though those times seem to be few and far between in the confines of a Jedi Academy. While highly charismatic to most, he is terrible at diplomatic dialogue, and by all means a straight shooter, even if it means hurting feelings or offending others - a trait he's yet to live down. This tongue might fit him better company with common people in the Galaxy, but not really much with the political class in the Galaxy. The only other teachings he really cared for in the Order outside of the Force mainly revolved on the sciences: star charting, astronomy, xenobiology. Though not an overly serious or genial student, his curiosity in these subjects allowed him to freely absorb and retain the knowledge he’s gained in these subjects and often did well in the courses. He is smart when he wants to, though there are very few things that peak his interest enough to motivate him to learn.

Nez had never been a spectacular lightsaber combatant, he didn't much see the point in fighting with laser swords, he is competent enough to survive without it. He has a natural athleticism that’s helped him excel in more physical hand-to-hand combat which he prefers over the use of a deadly light blade. He prefers to use his small frame to his advantage, and smart enough to do so effectively. And given that he left his lightsaber behind at the temple, any hope of Nez becoming a master swordsman anytime soon have gone out the hyperlift. With little weapons training outside of that, Nez is near defenseless outside of his use with the Force.

PERSONALITY: There's three words that Nez takes great pride in himself: compassion, drive and fearlessness. His mentors in the Jedi Order have continuously used these in some combination when describing the Jedi student. Though his mentor would say he is only hotheaded and stubborn. The Masters have often characterized his eagerness as something to be weary of, he is unwavering in his own set of morality and unwilling to compromise. He is by all means, right, every time. Stubborn to boot, the Jedi is seen as reckless in some ways, but he believes what he does is morally right - even if others question the outcome - his intention is always one, he does things to help.

His sense of adventure, seeking knowledge and understanding of the Force have often helped in his perception around the Masters, though his impatience seems to trump everything else in little time. He is by all means a "good boy", someone willing to help others, even at the expense of his public perception. That being said, he often makes himself look more stupid and idiotic than he really is - he doesn't really care much what others think, so long as he's content in what he does, not what they see.

He's also cares little for titles, and likes to treat even the lowest in the Galaxy like he would any important diplomat, and very much respects all forms of life - so long as they respect him. This doesn’t mean he delicately respect them either, treating them as his equal not above or below himself, and his mouth has often been described as a surgical knife, and rarely does he mince his words which doesn’t help in friendly negotiations. He is highly optimistic though, even to the point of annoyance, and critically urgent when the time comes for it, though the Jedi find it an endearing quality in the boy, and often encourage him because of this.

BIOGRAPHY:
Nezhualcoyotl was born in an uncharted planet in Wild Space in the Southern quadrant, the seventh son of a proud chieftain, and given as a brokering of peace between the Jedi Watchman and his people. Said Watchman would later be killed after the child was taken off planet to the Jedi Temple, the father believing the Watchman would train the child on the planet, as such - Nez knows very little of his own people or where he came from, nevermind that the Jedi had mistakenly kidnapped the child from his family. Still, Nez lived a fairly fun and fulfilling life at the edge of the known Galaxy on Klatooine. A small sect of Jedi held a stronghold academy there, though largely hidden as they focused on exploring the edges of known Space. Still, he was an ideal student, stubborness aside, bright and full of wonderment. The other children and orphan Jedi there helped shape and mold his childhood, being the middle age of the children, he often had to mediate and often let his fist do the talking for him on the bigger kids.

On his fifteenth birthday he became student to a Jedi Master named Keelix, one of the mentors at the academy, and somewhat of a father figure to Nez as he grew up. Master Keelix had often been described as distant but open, a hardass with a sweet heart. He was by all means the perfect mentor for a brandish and bullish student, but he was quick to disappear to travel without taking the Jedi Padawan with him. This frustrated Nez to no end, thinking his master believed Nez weak and did his best to piss off his mentor when he returned. Still, the two had a tight bond, and worked well together. Nearing his age of knighthood, Keelix had informed the Padawan that he would be leaving the Order for an indefinite set of time, and how proud he was of the boy's progress and he apologized for leaving him so close to his Knighting ceremony. Without many other words, the Jedi Master left the room, using his lightsaber to lock the child in his room, and disappeared from the academy. Nez was short of confused, angry and most of all, worried. The two were close, but Nez knew next to little about his Master's past or his real personality, and feared the worst: his Master had fallen to the dark side. The other Masters in the Temple simply believed Keelix grew disillusioned with the Jedi and left to return to his homeworld, but Nez didn't believe so. He couldn't. How could his master be so selfish? He felt his master had fallen to the dark side, yet the Masters disagreed with him at every turn. This in turn angered the young Jedi, as he left the safety of the academy, and left to the last plane had contact on: Nar Shaddaa. His goal was only one - to find his Master and he intended to die for it. He had all but abandoned the Jedi Order’s mission for something personal, like his master before him, but it was only to bring him back to the light. He had become a Knight, and he would make sure his Master knew it.

FORCE ABILITIES: Most of Nez' advanced proficiency in the Force were mainly in Control powers, the root of most Jedi teachings in the Force. Abilities that altered the self though meditation and control of mental stability, he was talented in abilities like altering personal strength and speed in the Force, though his prolonged concentration to sustain these abilities lacks quite a bit in comparison to his peers. His primary focus as a Padawan was the school of Sense, but he lacked quite a bit in comparison to his other studies. His strongest ability in Sense focused around tactus otium, the all-encompassing relationships of the Living Force with the Universe itself. While not as proficient as he'd like to be in Sense abilities, he had a firm grasp in it's teachings. The last stage in his training was the Alter abilities, though quite lacking in this department compared to others, he did spend the least amount of time even trying to learn this. Outside of his telekinetic abilities in this department, he gives very little thought in focusing in this school of Altering Force powers for the time being.

Man am I rusty, took me way longer than I wanted to to do a basic write-up. Still was having a hard time deciding if I wanted to keep him as a Jedi or not, ended up with not, to keep it interesting with his personal struggle moving forward. Still, he's very much a Jedi, just operating on his own selfish vendetta for now.

:O

The idea of a 17 year old knight still doesn’t sit right with me. But okay, I’ll settle for a truce. Reverse that ban hammer.

Oh, really, no need. We don't have Padawan, but we do have Initiate, which you can use instead.

cue SWRP Padawan meme

Regardless, I'm not character moderator so, ignore me. However, after reading in more detail on your character (a great excuse to avoid posting in threads), I will say that abandoning the Order constitutes you as an Exile. Just saying that because you may or may not be considered a threat to the Jedi (along with your Master), given precedence.

I say that because many of the Order's great enemies today were formerly Jedi, so if you go AWOL, you may be lumped with the Sith. Unless you do something to prove your worth to the Order again. Or not, depending on if you plan to stick as an Independent. But I can imagine that proving will be returning with your former Master? Still, he would considered an Exile and a potential threat too, so the Order wouldn't have exactly ignored his sudden departure, especially if he's a Jedi Master.

My Jedi, @Imani Sage, had also unexpectedly left for her homeworld, though at least gave reason to the Order to do so, as her people were under attack. But if your Master left with no reason and explanation, again, he'll be seen as an Exile.

The Jedi Order is saturated with paranoia after the Hundred-Year Darkness, especially when many of their great enemies today (the Sith Empire, their leader Andraste) were former Jedi too.

Just wanted to mention that ahead. Cheers!

I look forward to kicking both Jedi and Exile ass, then. Thanks for the heads up! I figured it would be something like that too, being lumped in with the Exiles. But that makes for a more interesting narrative for me, anyway.

Updated: some minor tweaks, mainly tried to fix my annoying writing pattern. Oh and to save myself the headache of “rejoining” the Order at a later date, I’ve kept him in the faction. Hopefully that’s ok. If not, not a big issue to go back indie.

I’m intending to kept his lightsaber back at the Jedi Temple, to keep the symbolism of his departure from the Order for the time being. Lastly, I’ll be tweaking the last few sentences on his biography as well to reflect the changes, though nothing major, just got sleepy and would rather go sleep now.

Idea: He was given the rank of Knight due to his master gone and rather than get a new one they just slapped him that rank, since they needed to beef up the ranks anyway. Mr. "Coyote In Fast" doesn't believe he is worthy of the title, having been unsuccessful in having stopped his master from leaving. As such, he hasn't abandoned the Jedi Order per se, but rather is seeking out his master, believing it the way to be worthy of the rank bestowed on him.
