The Rebel Coalition

Rebel%20Graffiti%202_zpsiburkq1t.jpg

The Rebel Coalition is a unified front of multiple factions dedicated to overthrowing Andraste and bringing down her mighty Imperium. Once a loose band of insurgents, the Rebel Coalition is now a serious force to be reckoned with in the galaxy, bringing with it liberation and democracy in the form of the reborn Republic. Though led officially by the Council of Leaders, the overall Coalition is, in actuality, led by an enigmatic figure known as Rainbow Leader, who's name signifies the various factions they lead.

The Ranks

General
A small handful of Rebel Generals make up the Council of Leaders. It is these individuals that plot the Rebellion's next move and coordinate Rebel strikes against the Imperium. This rank is not just given out to those who have earned it in the internal political structure of the Rebellion, but those who have proven their ability to lead Rebel operations in the field.

Commander
Rebel Commanders have shown not only dedication to the Rebellion itself but an aptitude for leadership and are thus specifically chosen by the Generals to serve as authorities in the field. These individuals are charged with leading Rebel operations and missions, and they must frequently make crucial tactical decisions in the midst of their operations. The missions they lead are provided and directed by the Rebel Generals.

Veteran
Veterans of the Rebellion have fought and earned the respect of their fellow Rebels and have been given a new rank to signify that. These people are charged with leading their brethren on the front lines of the war. They're not quite as well-recognized as the Commanders, but many are recognized as tried-and-true war heroes.

Member
The general populace of the Rebel forces. Just about everyone in the Rebellion is simply counted as a member of the Rebellion respectfully and it is these men, women, and other beings that will forge the new future.

The Veteran rank is interesting, but I have to ask - what is its tangible, practical use in the operations of the faction? It sounds like it's just a more respected version of Member, but when talking about a ranking structure, what does it actually bring to the table?

Instead of "Member", maybe "Elite" or "Commando"?

Names aren't super important. Differentiating between the ranks is, though.

Plus, who lets Weiss name things?

I do like the idea of a spot between commander and member, though. Just gotta differentiate between vets and members.

I believe it's meant to be sort of a catch all term for the small unit leaders below commander rank. Given that the rebellion is now made up of a variety of different forces that have their own tank structure, it could allow them to take the name of whatever their home organization would use, ie; enforcer, sergeant, lieutenant, ruus'alor, etc.

It's an interesting idea, as long as it's put to practical use. Battles and other operations tend not to have enough people to where more ranks like unit leaders are necessary.

No, but I've seen a few people use it as a justification for people to lead missions with other PCS or NPCs.

That could be fine if there are no Commanders or Generals involved. I would just specifically call out that this is what that rank is primarily used for. That way, people can understand its practical uses.

I feel like it's almost more important for people just to have some sort of goal to work toward, or a tangible reward for being active contributors. Even if "veteran" or whatever doesn't have a huge practical impact beyond just the missions deal. The Jedi and Sith both have real benefits for training and missions, and the Hutt have a good reward system and assets for productive members- the Rebels, by contrast, haven't had as much to offer. At least this would be something.

I agree that rewarding accomplishments is good, and so is having goals to work towards, as long as there's actually something for those people once they accomplish it.
