Of Monks and Sages [Training of Shebashiris | Aderi Order]

[Midian]

The massive Aderi Athenaeum looms over head as two figures make their way through a path through Alaris Prime's foilage from a landing zone. Shadows of the wroshyr trees are cast over the area having only small rays of light penetrating the canopy and reaching the ground below. Luminescent lichens and stone light the openings in the structure that serve as windows. The soft white glow creates a mysical and otherwordly atmosphere.

The pair stops in front of the doorway which was formed of thick intertwining tree limbs. The lead figure dressed in white robes raises his left hand--as his right is occupied by a staff-- and waves his hand toward the threshold. The limbs creek and groan as they untangle themselves and fold back against the side of the entrance. Revealed is a large entryway leading into an even larger hall, which is lit brightly by luminescent crystals in the walls.

The one who opened the doorway walks forward to stand in its center. He reaches the position and turns about on his heels and looks at his companion.

"So! What do you think?" Midian grins cheerfully. "This is my home and the home of the Aderi Order. We are quite proud of our creation of the athenaeum and, mind you, it took us some time to grow it. What do you think of our architecture, Sheba?"

 

[D.C.]

Sheba looked around in amazement. He had never seen such a great place before. He looked at master Orlos and said: "Master, this is magnificent. It's great!"

The Frozian Monk looked around again. He was about to be trained in the Force, in a great place. He knew this would be much better than living in self-exile on Ord Vaug, though he still considered Ord Vaug his home. This would be his second home. A save place.

 

[Midian]

Zeru flies in from behind Sheba and hovers next to Midian. They exchange glances and then Midian speaks to Sheba. "Zeru here is going to take you to your new room. After that he will escort you down to the elemental gardens where we usually practice the Force. We will begin your training immediately. Oh and why don't you let me see your staff, I will give it back to you when you meet me in the garden."

Zeru turns to fly to the end of the chamber and up a flight of wide stairs leading to the upper levels. Midian laughs. "You'd better keep up with Zeru, he's not one to wait."

 

[D.C.]

Sheba smirks. He gives his staff to Midian and then turns to follow Zeru.
"Alright, see you there, master." he says as he begins to walk at a fast tempo.

He arrives at his room and took a look around. He saw a comfortable bed. A desk in the corner and a window through which he could look into the forest. He looked over to Zeru and saw that this guide wanted to go to the Elemental Gardens, master Orlos spoke of. He followed after the bird and finally arrived at the Gardens.

"Here I am, master." Sheba said as he walked towards his master.

 

[Midian]

The Elemental Gardens cover a large area and are enclosed by the trunks of the trees with an open sky view. It has been arranged with nearly every environment and geographical feature thus its name. Streams, small-tree forests, desert, even small scale mountainous area are present in the garden. The extensive grounds allows for training in multiple arenas and exposure to the various elements so the Aderi Sages can be prepared for any environmental background. Each section has a single six-foot obelisk that seems to regulate them.

Midian is sitting at the base of a willow-like tree by a stream in a forest of the gardens. He is dressed in light brown tunic and pants. He watches Sheba approach and acknowledge him. He nods. "This is where all your training and practice will be held. It has all the resources we will need. Take a look around you. We've managed to replicate almost every environment fathomable." He dips a measure of water with his right hand out of the stream. Midian tilts his cupped hand slowly pouring the crystal clear water back into the stream. "Have a seat. We will begin with some basics that it seems you already have some grasp of." He indicates the green grass in front of him for Sheba to sit down.

 

[D.C.]

Sheba sat on the grass and asked: "You mean telekinesis? My father taught it me, but he was not very powerful in it. He especially trained me in meditation and martial arts and I've become a deadly warrior when it comes to staff or unarmed combat, but I can only use minor telekinesis. It seems you're a master at it. Is it telekinesis what you're going to teach me first?" Shebashiris was eager to start and he was very curious.

 

[Midian]

((OOC: Respond as if you were practicing during Midian's pauses. This should give you plenty to reply to and then try out Telepathy))

Midian closes his eyes as if deep in thought then reopens them. "We are going to start with using the Force to sense and perceive. Close your eyes and feel the life around you as you did when you followed me on Ord Vaug. It flows through us, around us, and into us suffusing our being with energy. It can be used to enhance your senses just as much as you can use it as a sense on its on." He pauses for Sheba to think on his words then continues.

[Taught: Force Sense|Enhance Sense]

"Once you are able to feel the current with its subtle movements, open your eyes and allow your vision to be laced with the Force. You will be able to truly 'see'."Again a pause for Sheba to try out the technique.

[Taught: Force Sight]

"The Force exists in all forms of time--past, present, and future. If you focus on a certain one of those, you will be able to view the imprintings left in the Force or follow a pathway of the future, take in mind that the future has many pathways always shifting or changing as so do the tides. Lastly, you can use your attunement with the Force to touch the minds of others influencing or even dominating those weaker than yourself. By projecting your thoughts you can communicate with others through images, emotions, or speech. Try this as well and attempt to speak to me with your mind."

Master Orlos spoke about Sense. Sheba listened carefully and then closed his eyes. He breathed slower and concentrated on the Force. On everything around him. He could sense Orlos and other Force Sensitive beings. Master Orlos told him to open his eyes and so he did. He got to his feet and opened his brown eyes. He saw the world, through the Force. He never really had experienced this and he felt strange. He looked around and saw more clearly.
"Yes, I understand." he said slowly. "I can see..."

After he learned how to see, master Orlos spoke about the future and the past. About how to dominate the minds of weaker beings and last but not least, about telepathy. Though he seemed very calm, he was enjoying this. He learned how to use powers he never dared to dream of.

Then it was time to try out telepathy. A power he was most interested in. He concentrated deeply in the Force and tried to reach Orlos' mind. It took him some time but then he managed to say: Master? Can you hear me?

 

[Midian]

Midian hears Sheba reach out to him with his mind. ~"Good."~ Midian then pushes back slightly with his own mind to try and invade his apprentice's. ~"Now you must learn to keep others from using powers of the mind on you. Defend yourself!"~ He gradually increases the pressure on Sheba's mind. ~"Imagine a wall, or some concept of fortitude and let it envelope your mind, protecting it from intrusion or influence."~

 

[D.C.]

Sheba closed his eyes and concentrated on it. He tried to block out Orlos and in the beginning it was hard. Then he knew he could do this and 'fought back'. It worked, he could block his master from entering his mind.

 

[Midian]

Midian smiles as he feels a smooth, hard barrier form around Sheba's mind. He visualizes it as a sphere in his mind and looks for flaws: it was solid. "Excellent, you have created a near perfect defence of the mind; however, you will not always be able to focus your attention on that one aspect. It needs to become second nature requiring little to no attention to maintain." He tilts his head from one side to the other in thought then looks from the water to Sheba as he speaks. "Now that you have learned the basics of sense, we can move on to control. Abilities in this discipline involve more personal effects. You will use the Force to influence your own body, for the most part. Shall we begin? Or are there questions you would ask me on the Discipline of Sense?"

 

[D.C.]

"Not at all, master. I would like to continue." Sheba said with a smile. He understood what Orlos had taught him and he was eager to continue learning.

 

[Midian]

"Good, now dive in the water, submerge yourself, and hold your breath for as long as you can." Midian points to the stream that at a second look could have passed for a small river because of its depth at the center.

 

[D.C.]

Sheba looked the water and nodded. He was sure it was not dangerous and dived into the water.

He swam under the surface and stayed there and held his breath. He waited for his master to contact him by any means, perhaps telepathy.

However, it would not take long or Shebashiris had to get some air.

 

[Midian]

Midian watches Sheba floating beneath the surface of the water and then waves his left hand at the obelisk controlling this domain. The internal crystal matrix shifts as it is influenced through the Force. It lowers the temperature on the surface of the water causing a layer of ice about six inches thick in seconds. Midian walks over onto the ice and stands near where Sheba is. He looks down and begins instruction through telepathy. ~"As part of the Aderi, our duties may lead us into harsh conditions and environments which we must learn to survive in lest we perish. Above all else you must maintain control of yourself. Let the Force envelope you, let in infuse your body with stability and strength, then focus on slowing down your body's functions allowing yourself to survive with limited oxygen. Numb yourself against the needs of the physical and let the Force sustain you. Do this, or you will drown."~ He emphasizes the last sentence showing the seriousness of this excercise.

Shebashiris concentrated heavy on the Force. This task was very dangerous and if Sheba failed, he would die.

He relaxed and could feel the Force flowing through his body. He slowed down all his body functions, just like his master told him to. He relyed completely on the Force.

He had to catch breath, and a flow of panic coursed through his veins, but then he quickly let the Force drive out the panic and suddenly he had no need of air. He looked up to his master and smiled. He put his thumb up and started to swim around a bit. He then connected his master via telepathy: I have done it, master.

 

[Midian]

Midian performs a graceful backflip off the ice landing near his previous position waterside. He grins while restoring the obelisks original programming. The ice melts from the rapid increase in temperature. Midian projects to Shebashiris. ~"Well done. This excercise will provide a foundation for the next few lessons. I have one more survival skill and then you can dry out a bit and rest before we continue. Afterwards we'll look at two more techniques and have lunch."~

[Midian]

OOC: Haha that's fine.

"If you want to keep that coat of yours soaked you can. Otherwise it will be easier to continue on dry land." Midian motions for Sheba to get out of the water and begins explaining the next lesson. "As soon as you're out of the water, I want you to use the Force to sense the natural forms of energy around you: heat, light, potential and kinetic; these are a few of the many. Then isolate the heat from the others and allow it to flow into you, using the Force to direct the current. Be careful and only absorb enough heat to bring your body temperature to a normal level. This is an essential technique for travel in cold environments. It also can be used--carefully, mind you-- to increase the evaporation rate of liquids. Wet clothing can be a nuisance and particularly dangerous in freezing temperatures. Take a few minutes to practice the technique."

Sheba climbed out of the water and listened to what his master told him.

He then closed his eyes and concentrated on the Force. He tried to do what Orlos told him to, but it was hard. After a few minutes he felt the warmth in his body. Slowly he managed to bring his body temperature to a normal level, like Orlos told him. It took him some time, and he had to try multiple times, but he succeeded eventually.
