OUT OF HYPERSPACE
A HUGE CRUISER drifted in black, empty space. It was an enormous vessel, with about twelve decks. Below were the poor and the beggars, who desperately sought passage to another world. On the higher decks were the rich folks. On the middle were shops, cantinas and other entertainment facilities.
The cruiser's name was the Lightjumper. Its destination was Coronet, Corellia. It came from Coruscant.
Those onboard the vessel had only hours to live...
* * *
About five minutes ago - the cloaked man wasn't entirely sure, but it couldn't have been any more than five minutes - all the lights of the huge cruiser went out. The once so brightly illuminated ship was now shrouded in darkness. The cloaked man had heard screaming here and there. He had heard crying. Cold shivers ran down his spine as he tried to see in the dark, but his mysteriously grey eyes hadn't got used to the darkness yet.
At the moment the lights went out, he was sitting on a chair in one of the many cantinas of the cruiser, on deck six. He was about to sip from his caf, when the ship rocked back and forth and he heard a loud bang. He fell off his chair, the cup shattered on the floor. His hood had fallen off his head, but it didn't matter, because in this darkness it was nigh impossible to see clearly. Nobody would be able to see his features.
Nonetheless, he pulled his hood over his head again. He got to his feet and was dizzy for a few moments. He wondered what the **** was going on. The one moment, the ship was flying through hyperspace; the next it just floated in cold, empty space.
People around him panicked. He tried to listen if the captain of the ship would make an announcement, but as he didn't hear the captain's voice, he figured the intercom system was dead.
The cloaked man made his way to a window and shot a glance outside. He could see stars twinkle in space, but that was all. There was no sign of a ship that attacked the Lightjumper. Of course, that did not mean that there was no enemy ship, for the ship might simple be out of sight. He closed his eyes and concentrated on the Force for a while. He was not trained in the Force, and all he knew was telekinesis and how to sense others in the Force. He tried to reach out and he could sense something.
Something dark.
He quickly turned around, expecting some kind of monster to stand right behind him. Of course there wasn't, but it could've happened. If there was one thing the cloaked man had learned, it was that monsters did exist.
It took a while until his eyes got used to the darkness. He could vaguely see the contours of tables, chairs and people. He decided it was no use staying inside this cantina. He figured it was best to try and find out what the hell was going on here.
The ship dropped out of hyperspace; there was a loud bang (an explosion?); the ship rocked back and forth; all the lights went out; people panicked.
The cloaked man could still sense that dark entity. It gave him the creeps. It was true that his aura was a dark one as well, but that didn't mean he couldn't be scared...
And so he came up with a simple plan. He would try to get to the bridge of the gigantic cruiser, and he would try to find the captain. Perhaps the captain knew what the heck was going on. Hopefully, he knew what the heck was going on.
Thus, about five minutes later, the cloaked man strolled down a dark hallway, trying to find the turbolifts. He was pretty damn sure the lifts didn't work, but it was worth the try. If it didn't work, then he would have to find the stairs, and it would take a long while until he would reach twelfth deck.
He saw clueless, scared people moving about through the hallways.
One thing was for sure; this was one ****ing nightmare.
